Everyone around me is eating Fast food, candy, cake cookies ice-cream chips or just junk food, I ate a cup of Dutch oven potatoes and a hamburger totaled up the calories I owe myself, at least 4 extra hours of hard riding on my bike to burn up the extra calories. It took me about 15 minutes to eat the food. I've made a deal with myself if I eat more calories then I should per meal I'll exercise the difference.

Wed. OCT. 10th- Checked my AC1 went form 9 nine months ago to 6.6 finally some good news. All the tracking and work was not for-not after all
My glucose # are still high, Fasting # first thing in he mornings still to high any ideas?

Bad weekend Carb wise. Traveling killed my control over my carb intake and my calorie count. Did ok with the glucose /insulin ration though only 1meal over 200 which I know isn't good but this is my first time traveling and trying to track what I'm eating when other people are doing the cooking so I'm ok with it. Couldn't ride my bike, just a bad weekend all around traveling. Need to plan ahead a little better next time.

Relatively new here just got my first good news in 9 months of dealing with diabetes and out of control glucose counts no mater what I did. My AC1 went form 9 nine months ago to 6.6 almost normal. guess all the exercise and weight loss made a difference after all. A little good news did wonders for my attitude.

I have always used medtronic and think it works great ,but I also have never used anything else. Right now I have the Paradigm. I go to the Vanderbilt diabetes clinic and this is what they recommended to me

Depending on how much insulin you use (I use a TDD of about 23 units), the Animas Ping is awesome. Customer support is stellar. I love the small size of the pump and the Inset infusion sets are perfect for me.

I didn't think I'd care about bolusing from the remote (which is also the glucose meter) but I love it because I wear my pump either in my bra or my underwear.

I've been with Animas for about eight years now (this is my third pump) and while I don't have another brand to compare to, I know I'll be a long-time Animas user.

I am planning on buying a new insulin pump this summer, would like some input on what people have, like and don't like. Thanks and best wishes to all! emoticon

I have found that I enjoy the group classes at the Y better than just working out alone in the fitness center. Some of the classes I do with my husband and daughter (power step and bootcamp) and I do zumba without them. In each class I have met alot of nice people who seem to notice if I miss a class, which makes me look forward to chatting with them while we work out. If you haven't tried a class...try one. I really feel like I work harder to keep up with group. Hope this helps someone! Keep up the good work everyone. Denise

Hi Mistik and NESEKS,

Thanks for the updates. Your progress reports are encouragement to others. Neseks, how I wish I would take advantage of that Y membership like you. Mistik, my mom mentioned that I might be going through premenopause -my body is just playing all kinds of tricks on me. I wish for the day where I see some stability again.

I had a full hysterectomy on 21 Nov. Full menopause kicked in. I've been adjusting my levels since then. My basal bolus went up 3 units, but my fast acting ratios have decreased a lot. Morning still at 10:1, lunch is 15:1 and dinner is 20:1. If the weather would make up it's mind (been varying greatly) I think my levels would stay on par continuously.

I recently went for my check up and my A1c was 6.8 and all bloodwork looked good. I've lost about 18 lbs since last summer. I go to the YMCA 4 nights a week (mon - thurs) for step. bootcamp, and zumba classes and I feel pretty good. Hope everyone is doing well. Denise

I'm doing well, although I have managed to overpack my schedule like nobody's business... Trying to figure out how to unschedule volunteer responsibilities that SOUNDED like a good idea when I signed up, but are not working out very comfortably any more. Oh well, live and learn maybe?!

Happy 2012!

I'm coming up on one-year of faithfully sticking to my diet and am down almost 60 pounds.

My insulin needs have continued to drop and I'm fighting lows quite often. Down to a TTD of about 27 units and still adjusting about every 10 pounds lost.

Be well!
Valerie

I guess I've been doing SOMETHING right. My A1c had been 8 for about a year. In January it was 6.9. I honestly don't know of any drastic changes on my part, but it made me happy.
