actually i cheat nowadays i buy ready made marzipan and ready to roll icing althoughi might do the same as last year, i had a new kitchen last year and it was just finished before christmas so i made some individual cakes, i rolled some icing out and cut it into rings, i put a ring of icing on each cake and decorated each with a silver or gold ball. they went down well, to be honest too well i had to more and more emoticon

i donīt celerbrate christmas any more i turned muslim in 1998.otherwise you would have been welcome.i live in germany now.lol

i donīt know about tuppence but we normally put some apricot jam over the fruit cake then a thin layer of marcipan then some royal icing either levelled out with decoration on top or formed in to peaks to look like tufts of snow.

yes thanks for your input, yes i mean friut cake i make it then wrap it in fiol and give it a drink of brandy every so often i ice it about a week before christmas

hi,you have just brought back memories from my childhood.my aunty mona used to make christmas cake for the whole village.she would soak the dried fruit from march in alchol and bake the cakes in september to mature for christmas.thanks for the memories on my aunty mona who died ages ago.

i am not diabetic but my sil is and she eats normal cake provided she can work our the unit of be or ba canīt remember which one it is.my seggestion to you would to be to contact the local diabetic association in youir area.they might
a#have a reciepe for you.
b#be able to adapt your own reciepe for you
c#be able to work out the be/ba worth of your cake.

i think it is great that you are thinking to prepare the cake so your other guest caneat it instead of preparing two seperate cakes.the other option youn can ask them what they normally do for cake at christmas.not everybody is a fan of fruit cake.

another idea is to check on spark reciepe.com or ask one of the diabetic spark teams(there are lots of them)if they have a reciepe.

It looks as though www.cooks.com provide some diabetic fruitcakes but didn't see one to make months in advance.

about this time of year i cook my chistmas cake so it can mature but this year we are having guests staying over the christmas perid and they are diabetic i am looking for a diabetic cake recipie or somthing as an alterative? can anyone help?
