I can relate. I start taking Airborne or Airhealth and zinc at the first sign of any problems.

I like that elderberry is relatively cheap too. One of the "health nut" guys went home sick this morning and a couple of others aren't looking too good, so I'm going start back up with the elderberry tonight. I can't be sick, I have too much to do!

Wow, I read your blogs and you had a really bad winter! I learned a few things this winter. I added elderberry capsules to boost my immune system. For me, it either stops fever blisters if I catch it early enough or makes them heal quicker with less pain.

It helps to take vitamin K along with the vitamin D to get better absorption. Reed's Ginger Brew is fantastic for nausea. It has 17 mg of real ginger in every bottle. We had something like norovirus at work a year ago and I was only out for a day while the young guys that I work with were out for at least 3. Ginger Brew got me back on my feet quickly. That was a bad virus. I threw up for hours and the dog wouldn't leave my side except to get DH every time I started throwing up.

We were at the chiropractor when DH started running a fever, chills, etc. Several patients recommended this stuff:
Boiron Homeopathics Flu Remedy Oscillococcinum Flu Remedy

Within hours he began to improve and by the next day he was fine. That's where I found out about the elderberry. The company where I work stocks Emergen-C in the kitchens. It's just like Airborne and I drank a lot of it this past winter. It really helps me too.

I was surprised with a respiratory virus in April. I had stopped the elderberry because it was spring. Cold season should have been done! I ended up with a painful ear infection that woke me up at 3am one Saturday morning. We happened to drive by a Whole Foods that day so I made DH stop and they stocked colloidal silver. DH put warmed drops of colloidal silver in my ear a couple of times a day and by Monday I was fine. I'd used it on the dog's ear a couple of years ago with fantastic results and I'm really pleased with the results for both of us. I'll do almost anything to avoid prescription drugs and our health has improved significantly. DH has gone from 26 to 2 prescriptions in 14 months.

Glad you are all doing better and hope you have a good summer!!!!

i had a rough winter but I'm working on getting back to a healthier lifestyle.

I'm not a fan of facebook like most people. For one thing, I never understood how it works very well and it seemed like it is mostly people playing games and looking to get others to give them things for the games. I could be mistaken about that because I still am confused about the site. I didn't learn much about my what my friends are doing which is why I joined. They wanted me to join.

Every time I have to go to the city it reinforces to me that I am not a city person. The traffic is too stressful for me. Waiting in traffic - taking a half hour to go a few blocks. I give up a lot of perks to live here like good shopping, fun things to do but I know I could not handle city life.

How are you doing Morticia? It's good to see that the group is still going strong.

I subscribe to a pet health group and our list leader let us know today that Facebook is sanctioning people who post pictures of the Monsanto protestors. They also sanctioned Natural News. I closed my facebook account.

I wish I lived in a rural area. It sounds heavenly!!!

Nice to see you!! We saw Monsanto protestors on Saturday in a small college town in Southern Illinois. I live in such a rural area that it is nice to see things like this going on.

Wow, it's been ages since I've had time for Spark People. LadyIrish317 told her team about jigzone.com and I'm now addicted. If you like jigsaw puzzles, don't go near this site.

We hit 90 on Saturday. I pulled weeds all day wherever I could find shade. Today it even hurts to sit down, so I've been taking it easy.

I didn't know about the Monsanto protests, or I would have joined. It bothers me that unless I buy organic, we're probably eating GMO's. Organic meat is so expensive, but that's all I buy now. We just eat a lot less meat and a lot more beans.

Tomorrow should be hot and dry, but we might get some rain by Wednesday. Hoping we get rain and not dry lightning. Don't want a repeat of last summer's fire season.

Happy Memorial Day!

No plans for tomorrow--unless I get brave and go car shopping! I have the money to do it now. Went to Jason's tennis tournament consolation match today. It was gorgeous outside--blue skies, low humidity and almost cool. He lost in a hard-fought tie breaker but played much better than I have ever seen him play. Things seem to be coming together finally. Alison's dad and his fiance are here spending the night on the way back from a wedding in SC and checking out the local real estate. Not sure whether I do or don't want them to move nearby!

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend!

Linda

Yesterday was a gorgeous day, we went to our local Saturday Market - a very eclectic mix of goods from produce to jewelry to pottery to wood carvings, food booths, etc. Had a wonderful time. Even a bunch of protestors at the free speech plaza going after Monsanto because of all of the GMO foods. For once, I agreed with their protests!! (But I didn't join them) I bought a pair of hand made earrings, inexpensive but cute. It was a fun day!

Today it's been rainy cold and windy all day, so I actually haven't been out of the house. Caught up on a couple of movies I had on the DVR, so that's been my day. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and wet also, so whatever I do will most likely be done indoors.

Just being lazy!!

Traffic wasn't too bad yesterday. Today it was a little busier but still not bad. I think most people are staying home. Our neighbors seem to have gone somewhere and while they were gone someone dumped a puppy at their house.

Okay that is very cool Tish! We aren't doing anything but hiding from the traffic. Weather is it's normal rainy/grey so maybe the mister will work around the yard and I will work on some batch cooking in the kitchen. Such an exciting life emoticon

You are awesome! The nearest family graves are 2,000 miles away, so not an option for me.

Do you have plans for Memorial day?

Hubby and I went and decorated the graves yesterday. We got to 5 different cemeteries up to about 80 miles away and decorated graves for my cousin, mom, step mom, maternal and paternal grandparents, great grandparents. and even great great grandparents plus my in-laws. People ask me how many it is and I have no idea. I don't count them. We always have the truck full of stuff to clean the graves and 2 leaf size bags full of flowers plus the tools to do it with. I do some of them before I get there but do the urns on site.

I am trying to come up with my menu for tomorrow. It will just be my hubby and me. I don't worry about what I eat much on holidays other than I eat very small portions.
