I am down 4 pounds since I started this - 3 1/2 in the last week. And I am really not following the plan. I even had half an English muffin and one slice of bread yesterday (I really need to go shopping - I am running out of low carb choices!) I hope to plan and shop today, and start tomorrow!

I started a modified South Beach diet Thursday (I am still reading the book, so I am just reducing carbs as much as I can right now) and I am down 2 1/2 pounds already. Prior to this, it has taken me 2 1/2 years to lose 11 pounds due to a dead thyroid and perimenopause. I hope I can keep it up at work this week! I am still figuring out what I can and can not eat.

I am still using low gi which is low carbs and no sugar foods.

I am still holding the loss of 10 lbs so i am ok altho i like to lose more

I do think scales are important as they remind us we are NOT as healthy as we should be

if our numbers go up.

I know i keep eye on mine now as once it goes up it is very hard to get them down.

What is healthy for one maybe not for other. Pal i know says he lost 70 lbs ,

If i lost 70 lbs i be in hospital or just gone so what one needs other does not need

Each of us see our selves and know what we should weight and be so shoot for your own

goal.

To me that is health.

iF YOUR NOT HAPPY TRY TO AT LEAST MAKE SOMEONE ELSE HAPPY. THEN YOU CAN SAY, I LIVED TODAY.

I can definitely say that I have found great success with Smart Carbing, though I haven't always stayed faithful and that's when my weight creeps back up. Lost 60 lbs on the South Beach Plan, and it was so easy to stick with, but after my wedding, I strayed and eventually gained it back. I'm back to South Beach and smart carbing in general, and have lost 37 lbs to date. For me, it's better to stick to smart carbs, because the sugar and the processed stuff is what makes me crave the bad foods and fall off track. When they are out of my system, I do so much better. And the variety of what I can eat is wonderful, the lean proteins, the whole grains, fruits and veggies, all are part of a healthy eating plan. I know that everything I'm eating is good for me, and not eating junk that I would stray towards if I am "allowed" it. At least, that's what works for me!

Thank you everyone for your replies. I just started out and I have lost 2kgs since I last weighed. I'm not weighing again because I don't want to anticipate the weight loss. I am just taking each day as it comes. I am already feeling less hungrier and my face looks thinner too. Well, these are the changes for now. :)

I started with South Beach over 5 years ago. Lost my weight in the first year and half and have been in maintenance since. I still eat beachy although I have tweaked it to fit my lifestyle. I think that is the critical element for anybody doing low carb. One diet will not fit everyone's need. We have to figure out what we can tolerate carb wise and make adjustments as necessary. Because this is a lifestyle and not just a diet, we don't QUIT once we reach a goal or if we mess up. We just keep moving forward and get back on track. Losing my weight has helped tremendously with settling down the stress on my joints (which is critical with living with rheumatoid arthritis) and I am more active now than I was when I was younger.

Many, many success stories from team members. The team is lead by 2 super women who are knowledgeable and helpful. Members are great.

I'm diabetic and smart carbing both lowered my weight as well as my blood sugar numbers. Lots of non-starchy veggies and usually one whole grain serving a day and a small fruit. No sweets or desserts for me. Was just told by a Nurse Practioner/nutritionist that nutritionally I eat very well. Good luck!

There are a bunch of success stories on the team. Kierae for example has been in maintenance for a long time now. We have others in maintenance. Lots of our members have lost 50 plus pounds. My son lost 120 pounds.

Good luck with your plan. I am sure you will find many more with much more success than me.

I don't follow any specific plan but I started out on Atkins years ago. I tend to stay between 50 and 100 carbs now. That is the only way I seem to loose. I eat lean protein and protein shakes (because I love them for breakfast at 6am with my meds..) and I get my carbs in my vegetables, low carb yogurts and a few Atkin bars that I love for sweets.

Since I have went back on my diet I have come back down from 230 at the beginning of the year. It seems slow at times but it is steady and I am happy with it and eating and staying full at all times.

Who could ask for more?

Good luck with your plan and your weigh loss journey. The best part is finding a plan you can follow every day without thinking about it and loosing weight while you do it! This is also a plan that I cook for my family so they eat the same foods I do..
