I must not be doing something right - I am off the chart! BMI is Overweight, but I am 5'2", with a supine waist of 37 (less when standing). My HWI appears to be 39.35 which isn't even on the chart for that height. Did I do it wrong?

emoticon if i read that right i'm obese ! Now i weigh 146 and i am about 5'4 at present my waist is a whopping 40" i don't look like it is and if i lay down maybe it would be different. I have an "apron belly" from yoyo diets and losing to fast also. As of now my BMI should be about "normal range" although in high end. So i'm a bit confused with the link. When i weighed 132 i had a 28" waist and it wasn't bad but could have been smaller i guess. My hips are about 38-39" HELP ?

Yes, thanks for the link! I find I'm still obese and two inches more than the BMI indicated. This is better cause I've felt like even if I get 1 inch off, I'll still be heavy. This is good!

It took me a while, but I finally figured it out. For me, my waist size should be 28 - 31" at 5'2" tall.

At 5'9" normal waist size is 31.2 to 34.5.

On the left column, find your height in inches. Go across the row and you will see a range of numbers on the top row. The range from 10 to 20 is normal weight. Everything outside of that range varies from underweight on the left to overweight and obese on the right.

I like it. It gives me a new goal that's not based on the scale. Thanks for the post!
