subtracting sugar alcohol from carbs along with fiber puts that into the same category. Thats not exactly true.
I would put them more in the category of cheese, artificial sweeteners, nuts, fruit etc. Things that might ruin your plan, or stall you, even though they are allowed on Atkins. Things that should be tested to see if they are OK. If you are consuming sugar alcohols, and cheese for example, and do not lose any weight.. Was it because of the cheese, or the sugar alcohols? Or both?
Fiber, meanwhile has no affect, and can be subtracted by everybody to get net carbs.
