subtracting sugar alcohol from carbs along with fiber puts that into the same category. Thats not exactly true.

I would put them more in the category of cheese, artificial sweeteners, nuts, fruit etc. Things that might ruin your plan, or stall you, even though they are allowed on Atkins. Things that should be tested to see if they are OK. If you are consuming sugar alcohols, and cheese for example, and do not lose any weight.. Was it because of the cheese, or the sugar alcohols? Or both?

Fiber, meanwhile has no affect, and can be subtracted by everybody to get net carbs.

The response definitely varies from person to person and product to product.

I can eat the sugar-free brownies that are made, I think, by Russell Stovers. But the sugar-free peppermint patties - I threw away!! The sugar-free pecan clusters by R.S. are delicious, and give me no problems at all.

They had some bags of sf bags of candy on clearance at Wal Mart a couple of weeks ago. I have to go slow with them also, because I definitely feel the reaction hours later. It's almost not worth it....notice I said "almost" because I still eat them. lol

yes, you can subtract the sugar alcohols from the total carbs.

LOL, what have I done! Ha ha ha ha! I had 5 and I hope that work goes ok tomorrow. At least its weigh in day ;) I need to stop listening to my sister, she's just carb trouble. Ok, so I can delete the sugar alcohol from the carb content? There are so many rules to this diet and I'm trying to learn.

yeah I also suffer greatly from even small servings of sugar-free chocolate containing sugar alcohol.

Splenda does contain some carbs unless it is the kind with fiber added which negates it. Splenda is not a sugar alcohol but sometimes sugar alcohols are added into the ingredients with splenda.

You can subtract sugar alcohols from net carbs. Can you eat an entire bag of candy made with sugar alcohols? Not a chance. They cause severe gastric upset in large quantities. You will think you are going to explode. I can barely eat a serving without symptoms.

I eat it too so they are a life saver sometimes when I am wanting to have a treat.

Its the Dove Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Creme. This one doesn't have splenda, it has the alcohol.

Does the candy contain sugar alcohols in addition to Splenda? That would be sorbitol, mannitol or xylitol, possibly erythritol. They do contain some carbs which I think you'd have to count. It's not like fiber.

I don't think that Splenda is a sugar alcohol, I don't count splenda off my net carbs....that being said still look at the carb, fiber if any and eat the serving size. I too have sugar free Easter candy.

In my Easter basket I found 3 bags of sugar free candy that is sweetened with Splenda. My sister said that you can subtract the sugar alcohol from the carbs to get the net carb. Is this true? Can I eat a whole bag, you bet ;) HAPPY EASTER!!
