We have members on all kinds of smart carb plans and some of them eat grains and soy and we are okay with that as it's a personal decision. I can't tolerate wheat or soy so it's not an option for me. Soy isn't something that older women or thyroid patients should really consume.

Thanks for all the cheerleading and reminding me of how good this way of eating is for all of us!

I completely agree! It's an irresponsible shame the way we're been duped and misled all these years. Look where it's gotten us. I am forever grateful to those who will stand up and be counted (and yes, even ridiculed) for their beliefs. The worst part is that we're STILL being swayed from reputable scientific data by those who would present themselves as "nutritional specialists". Even now the popular "wisdom" is quoting things like low fat and healthy grains and the miracle food, soy. If you dare to step off "the line", you're bagged up with all the other "kooks" or idiots who just don't understand "health". pfft

I believe we're on the right path. It seems to me that low-carbers go the extra mile to understand the science, cut through the propaganda to reliable data, and implement it in accordance to listening to their bodies' own feedback. We apply our minds to our lifestyles, rather than just go along with popular flow to fit in with touchy-feely social mores. Most of us (that I've encountered) try to live harmoniously, supporting local producers and pastured foods.

I love the lifestyle for so many reasons. I'd like to go on a crusade! but you can only teach those open-minded enough to hear things that are new and possibly frightening, and which go against the comfort of what's always been done (and is still being promoted: something that would require them to strike out against that "comfort"). I love the way low-carb makes me feel. I love feeling that I'm a part of the world I live in, responsible in my own small way for sustaining and nurturing it. I love losing all this weight and knowing I'm getting healthier with every bite, and that it will be a longer and healthier life! I love sharing the joy and wonder of its simplicity with all of you, and with anyone I can encourage toward it.

Grok on, everyone!

I wholeheartedly agree that Low Carb is the way, at least for me. I've tried many other "diets" over the years. This I don't consider a diet, it's just how I live!!

Atkins was one of the pioneers to start the ball rolling....... Thank you to him and all he taught us.

As long as I stay low carb I am able to keep my weight off, I am very proud of that. If I eat sugar or to many carbs I feel bad and it takes a few days to get back to my "normal" .

We love the smart carb way of eating. It's a great way to live. We can thank pioneers like Atkins and the Eades for holding their ground and not giving up when the medical community labeled them as kooks.

Last August I read Gary Taubes' Why We Get Fat and it changed my life! I always had thought that low-carb was a fad and it was a shock to realize that I had been DUPED right along with the rest of the world to think that low-calorie low-fat was the "right" way to lose weight.

You can read more about me on my Sparkpage if you feel so inclined, and I hope you'll read my blog entry today so I can share my joy you over all the wonderful food that we get to eat while losing weight the low carb way!
