Great idea, Betty.

I've sometimes packed the goodies in small zip lock bags and hand them out on the corners to some of the panhandlers. When I worked, we had a lot of them come by the shop too and they always made out well at holidays. (We had an agreement... if I had something, I offered, they were NOT to come in and ask). It worked too!! Did that for several years.
(My shop was in a part of town where there was a lot of foot traffic of the homeless).
They were/are happy to have a treat.

I like the good advice of everyone and what you said too.. It would be so good to wrap them up again and possibly like you said, to give them away as gifts. I think that I would feel so guilty at throwing them away after she went to all that work. Good luck to you this holiday season! I know I surely need it! emoticon emoticon

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

That was very good of you to pass that along.

I also have someone in my life that questions my low carb eating, as soon as she walks in the door she askes me what I ate and was it low carb, before she even says hello...

I have learned to just let it go and live my life.

I also think it was a good idea to give them away. This time of year it's hard enough not to eat goodies. My willpower is practically non-existent right now.

Hopefully the lady isn't passive-aggressive. I'm always suspect when someone who knows you are on a diet gives you 10 pounds of cookies and truffles. I think you did the right thing and if she asks you about the goodies you need to be honest with her about what you did with something along the line of. "Thanks for the wonderful goodies. I'm not allowed to have them on my diet but my family and friends loved them."

Maybe she wanted to give you something she made special for the holidays. I think it's a good idea to regift them instead of just throwing them away. That way someone else can possibly enjoy them. And you can feel good about giving them to someone else to enjoy.
I don't eat fudge and no bake cookies but I make them for hubby and friends every year for Christmas. Our friends say they look forward to the goodies cause they know it's made with love.

A lady I work with just gave me a gift of about 10 pounds of cookies and truffles. I was partly annoyed because she knows my struggles with these foods.. She asks me every Wednesday how my weigh-in went at TOPS. I thanked her of course and then felt anxiety on the way home about all those goodies. Until I have better control of my eating (or maybe I never will) I just can't have this stuff in my house. I just couldn't throw them out after all the work she put into making them. I decided that I would repack them in those holiday containers and I gave them away. I feel a little guilty, but I would feel a lot worse if I ate all those goodies.

emoticon Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
