I was on the road traveling this weekend. 4 points for Saturday and 5 points for today. The points really reflect how I feel. I started to get shaky yesterday and felt I was crashing big. It was a scary to feel that falling apart feeling, I was at a big event and needed to be on full force and feel strong. I ate some turkey meat from a sandwich and that helped a bit, but didn't make up for all the rest. I love this challenge because it helps me keep track of a full spectrum of healthy living/eating. I feel so much better when I end the day with more points.

A nap would count toward both stress reduction and the sleep goal. Deep breathing would count too as would any number of things. It is kind of individual - what relaxes me may not you. - I like taking a stroll, having a long soak in a hot tub, a hot bath. Reading a book. Doing a puzzle. Playing a board game. Listening to music. Singing. Dancing. Meditation. Yoga. Qigong. Playing with a pet. Window shopping. Talking to a friend. Aromatherapy. ETC.

8 points for me today. What are people doing for #5, de-stress? I haven't gotten that point yet. I've been taking a few deep breathes for getting oxygen to circulate, but I don't have a relaxation practice. I do find exercising relaxing though. I love my Classical Stretch program.

11 points today. I tried a new recipe and a new food to bump up the points. I got really sleepy around noon and took a nap, it was good though. In the past I usually would eat sugar and carbs to boost my energy.

Well, I got 7 out of the 13 for today, so all was not lost! It's been a hectic day. Took a friend home after she'd taken her car in for some repairs, so we stopped at Goodwill and shopped around, and found some dandy bargains too. Then went and had coffee. I went to the farm and got some produce, came home.

And I had my newest great granddaughter born this afternoon, for which we are all elated. She's a pretty baby (but guess all great grandma's think that, huh?) Unfortunately, I probably won't get to see her until spring when I go back to TX.

Thanks for the visualizing help everyone. I realize that I've been thinking that my goal is to weigh 150 lbs, but I didn't have the complete picture, just that number. I've heard athletes talk about how they visualize their performance and how that helps them win. It's funny, but I have some sort of block about this. I think at 150lbs I would be able to get dressed easier, not so much to camaflouge, my body would ache less, I'd have more energy, I would feel more comfortable taking photos and videos, I think it would be nice to just not have to worry about how look and just be free to live life. This is how I visualize. - Write down your goals and read them out loud. Sit down and relax. Take some deep breaths. Visualize them in vivid detail with you in the picture. Use all of your senses. See yourself achieving this goal. Allow emotion to enter your vision. Continue this for 10 minutes. When opportunities present themselves to achieve your goals, jump on them.

Visualization.....I don't know that I'm very good at it, but when I visualize I visualize my two biggest problem areas (stomach and butt) are firmer. I visualize that I don't have that muffin top anymore and that my butt doesn't enter the room 30 - 60 seconds after the rest of me does. lol

Hi all!

I got 8 points today. I need to work on getting enough water, getting more Spark Points (not sure how), remember to visualize, and make sure I get enough veggies. But, it was a great day. it's been 2 days since I 've been eating mindfully and not doing the constant snacking. I actually felt hunger today. The kitchen is closed for the night!

Well, summer is over. Fall is here and it's time to get off your butts. We are having a challenge this month - The Great Pumpkin Challenge. The challenge runs from October 2 through October 29. Each day you will get a point for every one of the following challenges you do. Do as many or as few as you like. You are on the honor system and responsible for keeping your own tally. At the end of the month the members with the most points will receive a pumpkin goodie but more importantly they will be healthier and most likely thinner.


1. Track your food every day
2. Eat in your calorie range
3. Eat in your carb range
3. Get in at least 30 minutes of exercise
4. Drink 8 glasses of liquid a day
5. Do something to de-stress every day such as mediation, yoga, deep breathing
6. Do something fun every day for at least 15 minutes
7. Get at least 7 hours of sleep a day
8. Get 75 spark points a day
9. Get in 5-9 servings of veggies or fruit
10. Try a new healthy recipe
11. Try a new healthy food
12. Practice visualization to realize your goals.
13. Practice mindful eating
