I don't think we've had a full day of sun yet this year so far. LOL.

I AGREE WITH MORTICIAADDAMS!!! We both live in the Northern Midwest so during the winter we don't ever see the sun. Unless its -25 outside. I tan 3 times a week in the winter on the lowest powered bed they have. It works as vitamin D and raises your seretonin levels to help with possible SAD depression

I think the sun is the way to go too, Blue. If you live above the Mason Dixon line in winter you won't get enough D from the sun though. What sun? LOL. So I take it too though I wonder if it works.

My blood work showed I was low in "D". So I'm taking it,

BUT

I DO NOT BELIEVE the D we take orally benefits our bodies the way the sun does, so I'm really not sure if my taking it helps anyone other then the manufacturer.

The only supplement I have ever taken where I actually felt a physical difference (for the good) is Magnesium...

Most medical people are not familiar with herbal remedies and alternative medicine though it is becoming more mainstream in medical schools.

What really impressed me about hte specialist is she actually took the time to read it and thanked my for bringingit! My pcp (male) just glanced at it, and the PA (female) has been better, and read it but not sure how much she understood. She mentioned inflammation & I said but the turmeric is supposed to address that & she looked at it again & said oh right! I'm still considering changing docs, but want to get this issue settled first.

That's good, WW, because the MD knows what medical problems you have and what meds you are taking.

Both docs have a list of what I take & how much how often etc. Actually my old doc is the one who suggested the fish oil.

I would be careful taking too many supplements. Most MD's are against it and it can be very dangerous as I well know from personal experience. Some of the supplements have the same effect. Be sure and run them by your MD.

I am just starting to reevaluate supplementing my diet. I recently added Evening Primrose and Move Free Advanced to my daily multivitamin and calcium supplement. Now I am going to add Vitamin D (we don't get enough sun 7 months of the year here), brewer's yeast, fish oil, and B complex. I might add some others, but I'll wait until I've taken the new additions for a couple of months and decide then.

a multivitamin, fish oil (I don't eat seafood) and a calcium with vitamin D. I only started supplements after age 40 and the latter two since age 47 at the advice of my doctor and dietition.

I take a bunch: multi vitamin/mineral, E, D3, CoQ10, gingko biloba, calcium, magnesium, C, enteric fish oil, B12 every other day, probiotics, two baby aspirin and triple flex.

Most were recommended by my doctor and some by the pharmacy due to the prescriptions that I take.

The more I read, the more I see suggested vitamins/minerals/supplements that should be taken along with low carb diets. What do you take?

Thanks for any input!
