I'm set at 30-100, but ive ventured up to 125 too and still lost weight...i think it's up to the individual. (However I'm on SB so I only do whole wheats and fruits - no real sugar except for a tiny bit of brown sugar here or there).
You can always go up a little see if weight loss cont. or stalls...
I have been exercising a lot too though!

This is a great topic for me right now; I'm doing the Atkins induction starting today, but am also reading Protein Power and a women's nutrition book whose title illudes me at the moment, but it has a low carb bent as well. I've done SB in the past but didn't actually track carbs with it so this is all new to me. I'm glad to see that there is a lot of leeway and support here as to what works for each individual. You are all so wonderful!

I love Mexican food. It's so worth a splurge occasionally.

I see. I'm on few cylinders tonight. Actually, I'm 100-120 carbs usually (today was high because of Mexican food)and know it's high, but I'll drop a little at a time like some have recommended.

Each person is unique and the amount of carbs that can tolerate is different. Some people can't ever handle more than 20 a day for life but they are in the minority. Most can handle more. So experimenting is a good idea. If you start having cravings or stop losing or your blood sugars are becoming problematic in diabetics then you have reached your limit.

I've noticed since I've been cutting back on my carbs and eating less sugar that I'm not hungry and thinking about food all the time! I am also keeping well within my calories and sometimes exceeding my fats by a little. I haven't noticed a significant drop in weight but I am doing the 28 day bootcamp and I will mark my weight when the bootcamp is over. thanks for everyone's input.

I'm aiming for staying below 20 carbs but what with learning about the glycemic load and glycemic index--sometimes I go over that carb limit. I had 50 today. I don't know if it will stall me or not. Guess I'm just kind of winging it for now and seeing how adding some of the lower end glycemic-load carbs affect my blood sugar levels, appetite and weight loss.

I can't say I honestly count total carbs. I know that everything I eat I try to make it a low carb food. (except for an occasional intentional splurge) I would have to say my carbs are kept between 20 & 30 though on a regular day. I also watch calories somewhat, or make sure I don't overindulge myself. When I feel comfortably full, I stop eating. I don't watch the fat count at all.

I like to stay around 20 total carbs for now. I don't do the net thing. It seems to work for me, and I feel so much better. I am trying to drop 20 pounds, so gradually I will up my carbs, just not sure when, since this is working so well for me.

I'm on a MD plan. I try to always keep my net carbs below 150. I usually stay in the 80 to 120 range. More often in the lower end of the range.

My goal is to keep the carbs under 20 ... and generally I am between 3-9 net carbs, that is over the last 2 weeks.

Welcome!! emoticon I think you will find that the answer will vary from person to person. For me personally, 100 grams is a good day of binging! I try to stay around the 20-30 range. But, again, locarbing varies from person to person. I had consistant fasting blood sugars of 150 with spikes of 250. I had to do something pretty drastic. So
i dropped carbs to 20 grams a day, began walking daily and lost 6 inches and close to 20 pounds. My blood sugars are now stable and consistently in the normal range. Hope this is helpful to you!

Mine run 75-125ish (this is not net carbs). Occasionally I run over but I am on South Beach Diet so it is a bit more forgiving on that.

Hi, I'm new to Smart Carbing and hope to lose some pounds this year. I'm doing the Low Carb because I tend to crave bread! I've never been able to go no carbs because of the medical dangers, but I manage to keep it down to 100-120 grams of carbs a day. I've been losing slowly-- how have you done and how many carbs a day do you eat?
