I suspected for a while now that my CORE was giving me a low reading for my treadmill workouts (worn on arm) and a high reading for my bike workouts (worn on calf). So, I decided to wear both my CORE and my HRM during my cardio workouts for a full week. During that time I did all three workouts for Couch to 5k, Week 3 on the treadmill and two endurance training programs on my recumbent stationary bike.
For each workout, the CORE reading is listed first and the HRM reading is listed second: C25k - 432, 563 C25k - 434, 545 Bike - 569, 445 C25k - 418, 554 Bike - 565, 467
Just as I suspected, the CORE readings were low on treadmill days and high on bike days. Fortunately, over the course of the full week, the discrepancy was only 156 calories. I can definitely live with that. Besides, I'd rather my CORE readings come in a little low overall than a little high and trick me into thinking I'm burning more calories than I actually am.
