BodyMedia reports *all* moderate and vigorous activity as 'fitness minutes' for SP purposes. If you think it's overreporting, you can adjust what is counted as 'activity' on the BodyMedia site by going to Settings, Preferences, and adjusting the METs for moderate and vigorous activity. I'm using the default settings (3.0-6.0 METs for moderate activity, 6.0+ METs for vigorous activity), and that seems to be about right for me. Hope that helps!

Apparently I grossly understate my fitness minutes according to Body Media.

I think at this point it's only from the website, but I don't have the iphone spp, I have the android one. It would be nice if we could do it from the app as well, though.

Nice! They are also offering one and two year subscriptions now, not sure if the discount will work for those but it's worth trying if you go that route.

I had let my subscription lapse (oops) but the good news is when I went to reactivate it, that spark15 coupon code worked for subscriptions too, not just hardware. So if this applies to anyone else...

So far it seems to be syncing up properly for me, I just have to remember to reload the BodyMedia page if I have it open when I do the sync. What's happening when you hit the "Send foods to BodyMedia" button, are you just not seeing the calories show up on the BodyMedia site when you go in there?

Still having trouble sending foods to BodyMedia from SP, even after clicking the "Send foods to BodyMedia" button. Anyone else having this problem?

I have been asking BodyMedia company every time I would call about this feature. It's a glorious day for us.

Progress may be slow, but it happens!

So happy about this!!!!! I'm doing the happy dance.. but you will never know cause my body media is still plugged into my computer. HA.

I wanted to let you know that you can go back in time and sync data from the past. I just did it for the whole month of January. LOVE that feature!

This will motivate me to wear it more, and to log into spark people too.

You all just might see me around a bit more.. and get tired of me.

When you sync up you get 500 points and you become part of a new bodymedia team as well.

At this point in time, the meal summaries transfer from SparkPeople to BodyMedia. You can do that from the SparkPeople nutrition tracker by clicking on "Send foods to BodyMedia" at the very bottom right.

I don't think the food transfers, but the activity now seems to transfer automatically from BNF to SP. I'd love to see the food log transfer from SP to BMF, but I'm very happy to at least haveţhave the activity sync for me

I only logged my food on sparkpeople, so not sure if BMF will transfer to SP, but SP did not transfer to BMF.

S it does put in your steps as well as fitness minutes...I am still not seeing my food entries though....and it could be because I use MFP to enter food and am linked with it as well....so my food on Activity Manager simply say MFP entry then the amount of cals.... I wonder if I add to SP if it will duplicate?

with My Fitness Pal, the sync automatically does exercise and food, never have to instruct it otherwise....perhaps it will be added at a future date? Can't see the MFP site getting a better sync option for longer......they want to keep people using their site I would imagine Sp will catch up soon :)

While I was a bit thrown off by my apparently busy day yesterday (still cannot think of what I did other than general picking stuff up around the house), I can see it being a plus for those that have a physically active work or home life that they normally wouldn't think to count toward activity, since sparkpeople does not really differ between someone like me who sits on the couch all day with their laptop (I do contract work as an editor) versus a nurse who may never sit down on a 12 hour shift or a construction worker swinging a hammer all day.

Thanks for posting the info! I didn't see a way to sync the food either, but having the activity sync will be nice. Glad they are working together, it's a great combination!

I used the sp food log yesterday but did not see any option to sync to BMF (or vice versa). There is always just adding a final daily calorie amount to BMF rather than log food there, but it would be nice if the food synced as well. Granted it may very well do so and I am just blind, but I do not see any syncing option for food on either end.

So it appears it doesn't sync our food....or is it just me? I use My Fitness pal to enter all my food, I like it better than SP or BodyMedia....so when I sync, I get MFP info in my activity manager, however that info doesn't drop into SP. I wonder if I use SP food tracker only, if it would update the activity manager.

I synced yesterday's activity. It adds a little block at the top of your fitness page right under the date to give exercise minutes, calories, and steps. Beside this box is an option to sync that particular day. It adds the information to that block and as an entry to the cardio/strength training box.

However, it may take some getting used to as it all moderate/vigorous activity and not necessarily what you would normally count as exercise (not saying this is good or bad). For example, yesterday, I did Day 1 of the Sparkpeople 28 Day BootCamp DVD. Then I had entered it as 25 minutes and 177 calories burned based on my polar heart rate monitor. My results from my bodymedia exercise log on the phone app was 160 calories, 1629 steps, 22 min moderate, and 0 min vigorous. Reasonably close enough.

When I synced it all today, it synced the whole day activity, which resulted in "BodyMedia Entry" for 163 minutes and 928 minutes. And I cannot even think of what I did yesterday. Sure I did a load of laundry or two, but I didn't think I had gotten that much movement in being a lazy Sunday.

Bodymedia can now sync with Sparkpeople. (Will give links and directions incase I screw up the links, Ideally just the last link will be enough if I did it right). Go to bodymedia site and click on 3rd party app link (bottom of page). www.bodymedia.com/3rd-Party-Apps/Apps
Then scroll down to the sparkpeople entry and click on link at bottom of page.
www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/loginpage.asp?
whereFrom=../bodymedia/connect.asp
And follow directions.
