Well I got a hold of Customer Service as I encountered another problem. They are sending me another replacement. I don't know why I'm having to go through so many replacements. Anyway, I talked with them about the weighlifting issue and 4 of the reps (including Kellee if any of you spoke with her) mentioned that the update at the end of this year will be correcting that. Somehow they figured out how to adjust the algorythms to determine if we're walking, biking, weighlifting, etc. It's not an update on our devices though, it will be with their website, so I was advised until then if I want to keep the steps separate, as I am in a 100K and want accurate steps, to just remove the device while lifting weights and then edit off body. But they are aware of this and are working on it. Now I just wish they'd make these things waterproof.

I was linking constantly doing it as I had the workout section of my iPhone app on constantly. I set to burn 300 calories so set it to that on the app and while lifting I kept an eye on the workout part, and it did record my arm movements as steps walked. The same goes if I'm jumping rope.It showed 4716 steps walked during that time I was weight lifting and jumping rope.

You can see on your downloaded data, what was recorded and when. I very much doubt that arm motion while sitting is recorded as steps.

Zumba is recorded as steps and effort. You will see the spurt of energy burned during that time period. You could take the armband off so that the steps AND effort is not recorded. Rather than taking the armband off I would suggest that you put a pedometer ON and subtract the steps from the pedo from your armband total. emoticon

I don't know if this was covered but again all Bodymedia does is tell me how to wear the armband. No real solution. I'm kind of anal about my workouts. I like to keep the actual workouts separate from steps taken each day......like I do Zumba but don't want the steps in Zumba to count toward steps taken. I want the steps taken apart from the steps in my Zumba. Anyway, I know that the armband picks up the movement but how can I lift weights without the device counting each arm movement as walking? Do any of you just take off the armband during that time and then edit off body? Sorry for all the questions. Hopefully this question is easily resolved.

I'm asking because I"m in a 100K group to be completed by October 31 and really don't want those extra steps from weightlifting to count. I usually do the weightlifting when I sit down to watch Netflix at night. Thanks again for listening to all my questions. :)
