I hope the new one works well for you. In two years I've never had a problem with mine, so hopefully that was just a fluke for you!

I"ll be glad to get the replacement. I gained .8 lbs but that could also be because for the next 2 weeks I'm on Amoxicillin for an infection in my gums, more than a defective armband.

Oh good, I'm glad you're not having to ship the defective one back and wait! Hopefully the new one will work properly for you.

She's sending me a replacement. She said I could still use the one I have until I get the replacement. At least, even if it's defective, I can have some kind of ballpark figure to work with. My steps seem to be ok today but it never should have calculated weightlifting as walking to begin with. Thanks everyone for your help.

Well I hope I don't have to wait that long to get a new armband. This one is a mess. It shows me as asleep when I'm doing dishes, it takes 2 hours to charge, it won't link properly to my bluetooth on the iPhone when other devices will, it won't register the bike and now it's picking up weightlifting as walking.I don't know how accurate this thing is anymore with all of this going on. They are investigating but it seems like forever going round and round with them on this issue.

Mine worked fine - for two weeks. Then, all of the sudden, it wouldn't sync at all. Tech support put me through three weeks of back and forth emails trying everything I had already tried before they agreed to replace it if I shipped it back. I did - and it took more than a month for them to ship a replacement (even though I was in touch constantly, and kept getting assurances that it "should have already shipped). When it did ship, it was shipped overnight (I got a shipment notice). Pretty sure someone messed up on that one.

Hope this one works! I'd hate to have to go through that process again. emoticon

Good deal! I hope you get some help soon--getting an open ticket with them is key, otherwise it is too easy for things to drop through the cracks. I'm a software tech support person, I know from hard experience about that kind of thing!

Thank you. I reset the device so I'll see now what happens. But I got a hold of someone from Bodymedia and there is an open case now so let's see how that goes as well. I am going to contact Amazon as well, where I got the device and speak with a manager there about this issue.

I'm sorry you've had so many problems with yours; I would be very surprised if Bodymedia does not do something to help get things resolved. They want people to be happy with their product and to have a good experience with it. I had to contact tech support once for an issue with mine (did it via email), and when I pressed a bit because I was not satisfied with the response, they came back with what I needed. Good luck!

Where did you order it from originally, from Amazon or somewhere else? That's where I'd start and keep asking for a supervisor until you get someone who will listen or do something. It's obviously defective if it won't charge completely.

Now the thing won't charge on me. I had it plugged in for 2 hours and it's still flashing red. It was only down to 85% and they won't replace this for me. I keep getting referred to the 1 800 number and when I call that number I'm told that they only handle website issues and that I need to contact Bodymedia. I am very sorry now that I got this thing. It's been one headache after another

I try to remind myself that even if the device isn't registering everything completely, my body is still registering it, and that is what really matters, right?

I wear it on my left calf when spinning and I double checked it with my heart rate monitor. It was within 100 calories of my HRM which I consider to be pretty accurate particularly since it was lower. My only gripe about it is that it doesn't register when you are doing a really hard climb on the spin bike and your legs are moving slower. Obviously, you are working pretty hard - but it doesn't show up as vigorous on the Body Media. At the end of the day, neither of these are big issues. And I end up working out longer because I want to get all of my vigorous exercise in for a day!

My biking varies greatly based on speed(biggest factor) and hill steepness...If I'm pedaling at 20+mph on a hill course set to level 10 I can burn about 11 calories a minute...if I slow down the calorie burn drops radically. I had to re-set my device a couple days ago because the sync wouldn't display, I just followed the directions on their website . Good Luck!

Yea I know what you mean about the targets. Some of it does seem pretty unrealistic which is why I like to pedal away while watching my movies on Netflix at night. lol

I don't know, unless it's to allow your arm time to air out and breathe. I know my arm gets pretty sweaty under there. I was using a bodybugg up until last week (same device, different website), and the only time I had it off was when I was showering or charging it, not an hour a day. (Hey, I want CREDIT for any activity I am doing, it's hard work to get to my targets!) I am doing the same with the BodyMedia LINK, and I haven't had any problems. I think that some people with sensitive skin might have a reaction to having that area covered without a regular break.

Ok, thanks. Out of curiosity, why do we remove the band for one hour a day besides the obvious charge of battery? It just dawned upon me when I was looking at a youtube video and a Bodymedia spokesperson was mentioning about wearing it 24 hours a day vs the 23 we've been told.

That seems a little low but not radically off; usually when I'm using the exercise bike, I'm seeing a calorie burn around 6-7 calories a minute or a little more. I think the SP rate for moderate activity on an exercise bike is 8 calories a minute. I burn a little less than what SP lists, it seems--it takes a lot more activity to burn calories for me. It really depends on your body; if you have other activity you do where have more confidence in the numbers, try checking what SP says you burn and compare that to get an idea if you tend to burn more or less than the SP estimates.

I would but since I'm kinda homebound right now while getting things taken care of at home and unable to make the gym I was wanting to make use of the exercise bike. Does 5 calories a minute on exercise bike sound right to you?

That's too bad that they aren't being of more help on that issue. I do put it on my calf when using the exercise bike because I've found it registers more activity (which I believe is more accurate), but there is no way to be absolutely sure. Hopefully if enough of us contact them about this, they'll come up with some better answers for us. For the majority of things I do (running, walking, working out), I find it's pretty accurate, it's just the exercise bike that I see a problem, and I can live with that.

They still aren't helping much with the bike issue though. I know one of the reps told me to wear on the left calf, but how accurate is that? They tell me to try a day or two and call back if it still doesn't register and when I do I get the same thing of trying a day or two and then call back. I'm getting very frustrated with this device.

That seems like a kind of an odd answer, but whatever--don't we WISH we could just watch horror movies to lose weight! Hopefully resetting things does take care of it; glad you at least got some kind of more helpful response.

Well she had me reset the Mets, somehow that got messed up. I'm not sure about her one statement of how I burned a bunch of calories just watching TV. Yes it was Pet Semetary but she tried saying we can burn a bunch of calories watching horror movies because it raises our heart rate. If that were the case I'd be skinny as a rail lol

Good luck--hopefully you'll get the help you need! I hate it when a tech support person spits out what is obviously a standard, canned answer like I got; I worked in customer service for years and now am in tech support, and that just doesn't fly with me. Give me at least something to work with or some alternatives, not 'we don't support ______.' I'd get fired if I answered that way!

Are you contacting them via phone or email? I would try both avenues and ask for a supervisor. I had to contact them for something and initially got an obviously canned, standard answer. When I went back and let them know I was both unhappy and disappointed inthe level of tech support, I finally got the info I needed.

I"m sorry to say but I'm not getting a lot of help from Bodymedia on this. I was thinking their Customer Service would be better than that but I've been going round and round with them on this device since I got it 2 weeks ago.

It's got to be something with the device, then, for it to not sync and especially for that kind of reading--you shouldn't have a problem with Windows 7 and IE 9.

Definitely sounds like it isn't working properly. I'd love to burn 2000 calories standing around for four hours... ;)

Definitely time to contact tech support then. What operating system and browser do you use? I have heard of some problems with Macs, but most people have been able to get things going.

My auto sync was still enabled. So not sure what is going on with it. Yesterday it showed I burned 2000 calories just standing for 4 hours. Something is definately wrong with this I'm sure. I didn't do anything but stand. I doubt dipping a tortilla chip in salsa or guacamole for a customer is going to burn that many calories.

Mine wouldn't the other day. Somehow in my preferences I had auto-sync disabled. I found that out by reading through the help page on their site: http://www.bodymedia.com/Support-Help

I think I always wind up getting defective merchandise. I have tried for 4 hours to sync my Bodymedia, even upgraded the software and it just won't sync. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
