I couldn't wait !!!!

I made a deep dish pumpkin pie this morning with my pumpkin powder...

I used 1/2 cup powder to 2 cups hot water and it came out just like the puree I freeze...And the Pie looks Wonderful...
I'll wait until Jimmy comes home to try it.
I won't tell him it's from the powder and I should get an honest opinion ! Hopefully a Good Review !

I suppose so...
I just finished grinding the dehydrated pumpkin and I got 1 pint of pumpkin powder...
At 1/4 cup powder to 1 cup of water...that means with that 1 pint, I can make 8 pies !
I usually make deep dish pies so I would probably use 1/2 cup with 1 3/4 cups water.

I'd reckon you could do this process with just about any vegetable. I'd imagine, peas, peppers or potato would be something you could use dried

Got 2 large pie pumpkins yesterday, baked them, pureed them in my food processor (nice and creamy and did not add any water) and am dehydrating them to make powder.
Dehydrator was on for 14 hrs, then went off thru the night. I just turned it back on as there are a few places that need more drying.
When finished drying, I'll run it thru the food processor first, then thru my coffee grinder to make a fine powder.
I'll let you know how much powder I get. Takes 1/4 cup powder to make 1 cup puree when reconstituted...

Made Ravioli Lasagna for dinner. Gave some to my BIL and made 2 dinners for the freezer...

That's a bummer Linda about no power in the shed. Not that it would help this Winter, but is it possible for power to be dug in and connected for the next???

It must be pretty dark for solar panels not to work at all.

Canned 34 pints of pickled peperoncini peppers and 7 quarts of vegetable-tomato juice last weekend. I hope my husband likes those pickled peppers as much as he thinks he does. :)

Yes, I could run an extension cord, but the sad thing is... The dishes have a safety feature. If you try to plug them in with an extension cord, they automatically trip a fuse inside them, and will not work.... ever again. I made that mistake a couple years ago. I found out what happened after checking on the manufacturers sight. It sucks that you can not use a cord with them.

Thanks for trying to help... Sadly, these will not work for me... I live too far north... Our temperatures reach far below the temps that they would work for. Also... the food and water is kept inside the shelter, so there is no sunlight to use for those using solar energy... The only thing that would work, would be the electric dish... but I do not have electricity at the shelter / shed...

Oh I keep piles of straw in the shelters for them, at all times. They can at least bury in that to keep warm. I just wish I had electricity there, so that I could use the heated dishes. The water freezes in a short time, during the height of winter, and so I have to go out several times a day, to check the water...

Well, it froze last night, and it is zero this morning with drizzle and a wind chill of -2'C. I am not looking forward to going outside to do my morning chores. I am not feeling well today, and this wet and cold weather, is doing my joints in.

I feel sorry for the strays. They have to suffer through this wet cold weather. It is on days like this, that I wish I could afford to put electricity to the shed / shelter. At least then I could use the heated dishes, so that the critters water would not freeze...

We've had a cool snap over here as well. I've been feeling very ordinary after my root canal appointment on Monday and I've had appointments all week at doctors, vets, hospitals etc etc etc. Hopefully I'll feel like doing something tomorrow morning before I have to go to the hospital and sit for God know how many hours

We had a roasted chicken with dressing and mashed potatoes...So 2 dinners went into the freezer and 2 containers of dressing/ stuffing....
I'll make some more soup or stock today, with the carcus.

Cold front coming in from Canada around noon...I need to get out and get my pretty yard decorations put up for the winter !

Linda, Your bread looks lovely !

Jules...once you have sweet peas, they are sure hard to get rid of...The birds must get the seeds and plant them every where...

Only made one batch of cabbage, bacon and onions and we had company and they ate it ALL !!!

Thank Goodness I didn't make it all or I would have none for the freezer !!!
I will finish it today !

That's a nice looking loaf Linda. I rarely make bread anymore, I end up eating way too much of it when I do. I ,do still make my pizza dough, nothing beats home made pizza dough.

I've been wondering why I was not getting any peas on my plants, I checked the label on the punnet, it said peas (whatever variety they were) but now they have started to bloom!!! I think somebody at the place where they put them into the punnets must have stuck some Sweet Peas in with the wrong name tag. Don't get me wrong I love Sweet Peas but I was hoping for peas in pods.

Well, it looks like my garden finally froze. I feel a bit guilty. I did not pick the last of the collards and Swiss chard that came back yesterday. I simply was too tired...
*sigh emoticon

Today I am going to take it easy, since it is Sunday. I am only making a loaf of oatmeal bread, and I used my bread machine to mix it. I need to do that, because we more or less used up the last of the bread this morning. I just finished free-form shaping it, and placing it on a cookie sheet. Once it is raised, I will bake it in our oven. I love the scent of freshly baking bread.

Thanks Patti, that was one of the recipes I saw. I'd have to change the bulgar rice for something else, not really fussed on that stuff. I don't even use it in Tabbouleh, I usually use wholegrain cous cous. I do have a packet of Freekeh though so I might try that. It's an toasted green wheat product that is an ancient grain. It's got a really lovely flavour.

Cleaning out the frig and the garden and putting it away.

We harvested the garden yesterday, we have 3 pumpkins, 3 teeny spaghetti squash, 2 buckets carrots, 1 bucket tomatoes, a few green onions.

My DD made Carrot Cake and made 24 Carrot Cupcakes and a round cake, she also made Cream Cheese Frosting. We froze the cake. I froze the rest and about another 1/2 lb I had in the frig. I also froze the Brussel Sprouts and the last 1/4 head Cabbage. Then I made 3 dozen and 5 Pumpkin Cookies. I also froze 10 of the 12 assorted Peppers I had in the frig.

I still have a couple beets, sweet potatoes, some celery, mushrooms to use up.

Lots of gardening and mowing today. I think I sweated off a couple of pounds!!

Finally pulled out the Collards, I'm currently looking for a nice vegetarian filling for Cabbage rolls, so I can use the Collard greens instead

I thought I seen something like that before, but I couldn't find it, but then I wasn't looking too hard because I am usually using my tablet.

I really do have to get to the garden today. There was frost on my window this morning and it was anywhere between +0.6 and -1 C this morning. Depending on what thermometer you where looking at.

I know what you mean, sometimes you sort of outdo yourself with the "putting up" and just want something different to do with things.

I'll have a chat to Patti and we'll see what we can come up with. It's nice to have ideas for what to do with your produce as well as some recipes and different ways to eat the same old same old.

Do we have an "Using Up" thread? LOL

I do have a few things to get out of the garden still. Still haven't picked the pumpkins, have some tiny spaghetti squash out there and my carrots too. I have beans and tomatoes still, but I put up enough, and the last time I brought them to work hardly any where taken.

I should do something with the Honey Crisp Apples I bought, and the brussel sprouts too.

I have some broad beans that have sprouted just outside the compost heap. I left them to grow and I know have some broad beans to pick. Not sure if they'll be enough to put away but it'll be nice to have fresh broad beans.

On Tuesday, I made another Community Lunch. This time with 2 helpers. I made 6 hotel pans of Lasagna, we put out 2 hotel pans Garlic Bread and 1 bus bin Ceasar Salad, and 2 purchased desserts. It was so much easier with extra help, plus one stayed until the kitchen was cleaned, even mopped the floor for me, and she was the one I thought would be the first to leave.

I am still completely exhausted, but that should be my last community meal until November 10th, that day I am hoping to do my usual 2 kinds of soup and buns, for Remembrance Day.

I have been digging into some of my Put Up items. We used frozen mixed fruit for smoothies, baby potatoes and pesto for one dinner, frozen veggies for another, and tonight as I pulled dinner out of the oven I put in a frozen Apple Pie for dessert.

Good Question...Powdered Sugar is the white fluffy sugar you use to make frosting.
Is that what you call Icing Sugar?

Do not use granulated sugar as it is to heavy and will go to the bottom of the mix.

Sure...Let me go get it !!!!

Ok Here we Go ....

Hot Cocoa Mix

3c Un Sweetened Cocoa
6c Powdered Sugar (I used a 2 lb bag = 7 cups)
10c Powdered Milk
2c Powdered Creamer

Mix all in a huge bowl and store in an air tight container...
Makes approx. 21 cups mix, enough for 50+ servings...

For 1 serving of Hot Cocoa...
Mix 1/3 cup mix to 3/4 cup boiling water.
Here's where I add my dehydrated mini marshmallows !!!! Yummmm.

To make some fab modifications that will really knock their socks off, try adding 2 tsp ground cinnamon to the mix for Mexican Hot Chocolate. Or for a more festive variety, reduce the sugar by 1/2 cup, then powder 12 candy canes in the blender and add into the mix for a nice Candy Cane Cocoa!

You can, also, add flavored creamers!

I have peas just starting to come to fruition, but I think they'll be eaten long before I decide to store them. Not sure what to do with the Collards, will probably have to freeze them, or I might go hunting the web for preserving recipes for them.

You ladies are so right. We seem to be living in the age of entitlement, some people have absolutely no shame.

The trouble is you end up throwing the baby out with the bathwater sometimes when you try to stop some people taking stuff. Usually the ones that really need it are the ones that really don't like having to take it.

Harking back again to the time with the bushfires here, we weren't sure if our house had survived and the Salvation Army had arranged for a caravan to be given to us to live in along with a trailer load of all sorts of stuff to live on. When we found out our house had survived we told them to make sure they gave it to people who really needed it.

I saw so many people whose houses survived, taking caravans etc that people had donated and keeping them at their homes. I would have been horrified if I had done that, but it seems that, as I said, some people have no shame at all.

I hear you on the food bank thing. I and my mom used to volunteer at our local food bank, just for something to do.

Tho the majority that use it, truly do need help, they could be helping with packing things, and only a few of them will help pack things... even tho it would be helping themselves in the end.

The saddest thing with many of the volunteers... Many of them are on work for welfare. That program just asks that they do a bit of volunteer work for their welfare. Some are honest, and do honest volunteer work for their welfare, but a fair chunk of them maybe show up, but then do not do much, and will watch people like my mom (who is retired and not on welfare) struggle to lift and move things.

I think it is sad, that a healthy strong young person, would sit and watch an old lady like my mom, or someone who is fairly crippled, like myself, do the work that they could be doing... Like the work of filling and moving all the boxes, cleaning up the area, and getting things ready for distribution... which most of them also receive... while they sit around, drinking tea, and eating cookies or donuts... I can't help but think... If I were in their position, I would be happy to help... Mind you... I like being busy, and working...
emoticon

On a better note... I managed to get a batch of healthy zucchini muffins baked today. Aside from making the muffins, and doing my regular chores around the place, I took it fairly easy today.

I know at our church food pantry, they ask no questions but you are able to get food. Now, there was one lady they had to ask to not come back because she said she was picking up food for a large family-8 or so. What the people in the community came back and told us was that she was keeping the extra food and selling it to others!! REALLY!!

Our biggest months are NOV. & DEC. We try to have a Thanksgiving meal for them in NOV, along with a homemade pie. And that is when you sign up for the giving tree for gifts for DEC. So, they come back in Dec. to get the food, gifts and homemade cookies & candy. I am always happy to see the families there for the gifts. I always want to make sure kids have gifts at Christmas time. But they have had to limit what the adults can get for Christmas to cleaning supplies, home items, ect. like that. People where asking for bed set and getting upset because all they got was the sheets and not the comforter too. It is very sad.

I love to help those who need help and the ones who don't need help, I PRAY a lot for them to see the picture and to realize what they are doing.

Young people today have things mixed up some, NOT all, but some do!! Pride and self respect are hard to come by. Young people need a little kick in the buns!! Ok, I am a mother of a 20 year old who still has to kick him in the buns sometimes. emoticon

I give to food pantries as much as I can. They are a good thing.
Hope you all have a great day!!

Blessings are coming your way!!
Rhonda

We have the same problem with our Food Pantry...
They just grab everything insight and come in new cars...
They are more than able to work but choose not to as they get everything Free !

We used to have Community meals at most of the area churches. But they all quit doing it as most of the people that came were really not in need... They looked at it as a social event rather than helping the people that really needed help...

Well, our food pantry may not be in existence for much longer...
Everything is donated and the donations are going way down...
They volunteers are getting older and fewer.
I wonder what the entitled users are going to do now that we may close...

Is there no sense of Pride anymore ?

Oddly Beetroot is about the only thing I haven't got in my gardens at the moment. Maybe when one of the crops finishes I might be able to get some in.

CRAZYNDNCOOK don't you just hate greedy pigs??? Surely you could just take what you need instead of taking everything that isn't nailed down. I remember when we had the terrible bushfires here in 2009, we couldn't get out of the mountain to do any shopping so we had to rely on what we had at home (thankfully quite a bit here) and what was donated and offered at the local hall. Most of the people who went there took only what they needed, but there was always a couple that seemed to think it was a supermarket for them to stock up.

I just hate greedy people!!!

Did beets today, 16 widemouth pints, only 8 wide mouth jars fit in my pressure canner at a time, I can do 10 regular pints, which makes it quicker, but I am running short of pints. I have tons of quarts but I don't do much in quarts anymore. Also I made 6 pints of beet pickles, and still have a 5 gallon pail of beets left.

Also made Cider again today, the apple trees still have tons of apples on them, my neighbor was picking up the wood from the tree that fell down and helped with the cider, good thing too since I had way to many apples picked, we each got 5 gallons of cider out of the process. I am going to make some vinegar out of some of the cider, I like the taste of the homemade vinegar better then the store stuff.

My pumpkin was too far gone to be saved. I did cook it up, but after a couple complaints about the smell, I tasted it after it was cooked and it just tastes Off a little, so it went to the compost. But I did make 23 Burritos and 2 lb Mini Meatballs.

I want to do the same thing, but my pumpkin has a bruise and it is only getting bigger. Luckily I had planned on making it into puree already.

Plus I should make the burritos and meatballs. I bought the meat a few weeks ago, but knew I was too swamped so I put it in the freezer.

Edited to add:

Most people around here are hopeless. So much entitlement in this community, a majority of them feel that they are owed everything. It is kinda sad when there are no potlucks because most people don't bring food, all community meals are catered or food provided. As the school cook I don't get help until the food needs to be served at community meals. I finally have a boss that is willing to hire only 1 helper for me to pull these off. Then we have people either grabbing huge plates of food and even throwing it out, or taking 5-6 plates of food home with them.

Yep, they can be pretty hopeless can't they??? I remember years ago when I had a flat tyre, I had the tyre changed and I was putting the flat in the car before anyone offered to help. All this with my good clothes on (I was a salesperson then) and I never even broke a nail emoticon

I was thinking of trying to can sun dried tomatoes. I have a lot of tomato plants to go in the garden this year and I thought I'd see what the dried tomatoes would be like if I marinated them (al la bell peppers) and canned them the same way. I think it's worth a try, sort of like a test run.

I had help loading the SUV at the farm stand, my 16 yr old son came over to help. I picked up one bag of potatoes and put them in emoticon , he grabbed the other and almost dropped them emoticon , I had to rescue him and grab the bag. All he could say is I don't know how you did it. I laughed and said I do it almost on a daily basis. Kinda sad only my son helped out, there was another man around, but they all thought I was buying for myself.

When I got to the school, I had to unload by myself as I made it back before the bus, but then again there were 2 men there and they didn't offer any help.

At home I did most of the unloading because I had the kids packing all our bags and blankets in.

I was able to find room for all my treasures at home. A little moving around of things but they all went away. I do need to get into the kitchen and finish up making the Swiss Chard and Italian Sausage Lasagna I started making the other day. I didn't have enough butter the other day to finish making them. I also need to cut the Brussel Sprouts off the stocks, dice and freeze the peppers.

The salsa turned out nice. emoticon It usually does.

Today I am baking some bread. I am making a large loaf of cracked wheat bread, and some sweet raisin bread.
Mom is going to make some jam today as well.

I think that will be it, for anything special or out of the regular cooking routine.

I bought lots at the Farm Stand today. We were there for a Field Trip with the school, a Hay Ride to the Pumpkin Patch, I picked out a huge 20.2 lb pumpkin. Then when the kids were going through the Haunted Barn I went into the store to buy like crazy.

For home I bought: 50 lb Yukon Gold Potatoes, 5 lb Carrots, 12 Assorted Peppers, 20 lb Honey Crisp Apples, 2 stalks Brussel Sprouts, and 2 Butternut Squash.

For work I bought: 50 lb White Potatoes, 5 lb Carrots, 12 lb Onions, 40 lb Honey Crisp Apples, 4 Butternut Squash.

It was funny hearing the kids scream while I shopped. I am guessing it is a good thing I didn't go in.

Today Mom and I will be making our green tomato salsa. (My aunt gave us a bunch of tomatoes yesterday. I posted the recipe in the recipe area.) That is all we plan to do today. We want to take it a bit easy today.
Today is also the day of the charity event that I donated the basket and cakes for, and Mom and I will be going to that. I am looking forward to it. It is usually a fun event to attend, with lots of jokes being told, interesting speeches, and the silent auction. I love looking at the auction goods, and placing my tickets into the boxes for the items.

2 am to water????? Never mind that most plants would suffer from fungal infection if you did that.

I have lost this thread yet again!! I hate when Sparks stops notifying you of thread updates.

I had a couple of punnets of baby cukes in the fridge that I got for salads this week. The weather has turned really cool and nobody wants salads so I did 5 small jars of dill pickles. I also did 3 jars of Mangoes as well. Now the fridge is cleared all ready for the next shopping trip.

It is a shame about the watering restrictions. I take it you use a sprinkler system then? I just use my hose and spray attachment to water my garden. When it was gardening season, I was getting up around 5:00 a.m. ( sunrise ) anyway, to feed our critters (they poke me until I wake up). so then right after that ( around 6:00 a.m. ), I would head out and water the garden. I found it peaceful, sipping from my travel mug full of coffee, while holding the hose as the sun came up, and watching the water spray fall on the plants. Now that is one of my favourite memories about gardening. The peace I felt, while tending to it. I am sooo looking forward to next spring. I already miss it...

Our watering restrictions this summer went from Even Days to Even Days between 6 pm and 2 am.

Who gets up to turn off their water at 2 am? I would water as much as I could between 6 and until it got dark out. I live in the country so there are wild animals around, lots of bear sightings in this area too this summer.

What time do you usually water your garden? I switched my watering time around from evening to earlier in the morning. I found that it helped me to do that. The early morning activity also benefited me, by getting me outside, and giving me fresh air, which helped me be more alert during the rest of the day.

I am just dead tired this week. I am barely keeping on task at work, I really don't know how I am getting meals ready on time. Yesterday I was at work or doing work related stuff until late. It was almost 6:30 when I got home, I left home at 7:40. Today I ran out of work as soon as I could. I didn't want to stick around any longer. I think my kids are happy being home on time for once, it probably been a couple weeks since I left on time.

I really do need to get to the garden and grab what I can. Most things are dieing back, mainly because I haven't been watering. But I just don't have time or energy. I have 3-4 pumpkins, tons of small tomatoes, some carrots.

Well, I finally got my jam swirl coffee cakes made for the fundraising event, and put a basket of home made canned preserves together and decorated it for the silent auction. Now I can finally relax for a bit.

Well, it really took 24 hrs to dehydrate those little tiny marshmallows.
I bought a bag to try and when I went into my pantry the other day, I found that I had a huge new bag there. So I dried both bags. Now I have over a gallon of dried tiny marshmallows !!! I'll send a bunch to the grands, but I'm surely set for years !!!

Debbie, can you post your recipe for Cowboy Candy in the recipe box. I would like to try that next year instead of my usual Pickled Jalapenos. I am kinda hooked on the sweet banana peppers at Subway, but couldn't find any canning recipe that was deemed safe.

Gemini, the only way I like eating pumpkin anything is if it uses fresh pumpkin. I hate canned pumpkin, but I will use it at work because I just don't have time or energy to make them fresh puree. But at home, I cook up multiple pumpkins every fall so I have enough to last the year. We eat pumpkin year round, especially pie. My older dd declared Pumpkin Pie is the best pie ever, I said because they don't let me make any other kind of pie. LOL Is the recipe you used for the corn bread sweet? I am looking for a sweet cornbread recipe.

Goldenrod, happy to hear your platelet count is going up. Keep up your walking as much as you can.

Me, well I am getting ready for Thanksgiving, I am trying to make Pumpkin Knot Yeast Rolls, but my yeast was dead, hopefully this new batch isn't dead too. I also make a pumpkin pie, and will start the turkey, sweet potatoes and Stove Top, yeah I use Stove Top around 2-3 pm. I am happy that this year it is just my family of 5 here. I am just not in the mood for other people right now.

Barb...I'm So Glad that your numbers are heading in the right direction. Take Care and don't worry about things...Everything will get done, just don't over do when they release you.

Linda..;There's nothing like a fresh, homemade from fresh pumpkins, pumpkin pie !!!!
I love them this time of year and it's so nice to be able to go to the freezer and make one !!

Debbie... emoticon Look at You Go Girl !!! It sounds like you are having fun with your new hobby... Isn't that Ball book Great !!! Well worth the investment.

I'm dehydrating mini marshmallows. It takes 24 hrs at 130F...
I just hate when I open a bag, use a few and then go back to get more (sometime later) and they are sticky and all stuck together !
This will solve that problem !!!!

Hoping you get better soon.

I haven't been putting anything up. Been too busy with work to think of anything else. Plus a massive heartbreaking thing happened on Sept 30th. One of the students from our school passed away. I have known him most of his life. This last school year him and my older DD became very close friends when they were training for the 10 km run we did in April. He walked it with me, my DD, and DS. So I have been helping my kids deal with this, plus keeping a food program running around all the meetings and rituals that needed to happen.

His funeral was on Monday, I brought my girls and only did what they felt they could do. Now is the time to get back into routine.

I also started shopping for kour food program, in order to try and save money, so I have taken 3 trips this week alone to pick up food, probably 6 trips in the past 3 weeks. We also had a Harvest Feast at the school on Thursday, we expected about 80 people to come, I planned for 100, and ended up with way more than that. Me and 1 main helper made most of the meal.

I made 2 massive turkeys (about 28 lb each), the day before, I deboned them to make them cook faster, used the bones to make stock for the stuffing and gravy, had one helper come cut up some of the squash, I finished up the rest. Ended up with a popped blister from all that cutting, and ran a full food program for the school, breakfast, snack and lunch.

The day of me and my helper roasted the turkeys, roasted the squash, cooked 7 lb carrots, 25 lb mashed potatoes, I prepped the stuffing ingredients (the boss came in and finished that up), made 6 liters homemade gravy, cooked up 5 lb rice (but forgot to put it out), 6 lb ceasar salad. All while feeding the kids breakfast and snack.

We also had donations of wild meats, deer and elk roasts, 2 hams, that someone else cooked up, and 5 pumpkin and 5 apple pies.

The only thing we didn't have enough of was the mashed potatoes, of course someone just had to complain about that. Seriously? Lets see you do better. If they were to try and cook that, their turkeys would have still been in the oven, by the end of my meal. Thankfully the boss was there and said something before I could blast that person. For one there were way more people then planned for, and by oversight, because I was too busy trying to finish things up, and deal with a million freaking questions, and a sudden influx of "helpers", I forgot the rice that was sitting in the far corner, in the rice cooker.

By the end I was ready to tell everyone to F-off, I am too busy to answer stupid questions, or to chat. All day I was being asked how to set up tables. I have NEVER dealt with table set up ever.

Sorry for complaining. But I have been putting so much energy in and to have someone complain like that. Also the reason behind making 3 trips this week is because my first trip, on a Saturday, the Purchase Order I had was turned down by the store, so I couldn't buy the food. So I had to go back in another day.

I walked the halls this morning for 1/2 hour, I think they think I am nuts, but this enforced lack of exercise is making me nuts! My platelet count was up to 12 today, good sign, maybe they will let me go tomorrow if it is up to 20 I will have to bribe the people I know in the lab.
emoticon
But the sad part is my K+ is low so they hooked me to a IV, klutzy like I am I don't really like walking around with a IV pole. Only 3000 steps in so far today, looks like I won't make my goal for the first time since I have been here.
You would love all the stuff I have to put up, need to dry the last dregs of the plums, I dried celery leaves and parsley the other day and the rest of the tomato skins, that is a really good idea! makes sauce and stuff much more rich! I am glad that we finished the cider the other day, before I landed here. I want to work on drying a bunch of herbs, I am thinking of getting some add on trays for the Garden Master, it drys things so quick and they say it will hold up to 20 trays, I have 8 now, but 10 or 15 would be great doing herbs, but I guess a couple at a time would be wise so I can gauge when it starts to lengthen the drying time. So much warm air blows into the kitchen might as well use it!

We are roasting up a big pumpkin, to get it ready for canning today. We are also going to make some tomato sauce today. Busy, busy, busy.

I went out on Thursday and picked up my squash, out of 6 seeds I got 50 huge buttercup, the acorn didn't do so well, only 4, and carnival only 6, but the pumpkins produced 32. I also picked a couple of pails of apples wanting to do some more slices to can, but unfortunately I went to work Thursday night and they were prompted to do a CBC because of all the bruising on my arms and legs and the nose bleed that wouldn't stop, so off to the ER I went, and found no platelets, well only 3 but that is very critical low normal is 150-450. So I was shipped off to Bangor that night to St Joseph's hospital and then the next day transferred to EMMC across town. So my stuff all sits at home without me to can it.

Hi I used to just cut up my cabbage and put in in FoodSaver Bags, suck out the air and pop it into the freezer.
Worked very well and it was quick and easy.
I thought i's try to can it to save space in the freezer.
Here's the link to a YouTube video that I followed for pressure canning...
