Hi All, I've been using the Perfect Portions bags from Glad (I think) and they seen to work well.
I put the produce or meat in one and squish out as much air as I can and twist it tightly.
Then put them all in a ziplock bag and pop in the freeser.
I just take out one perfect portion or as many as I need and the food is not freezer burned at all.

I have never used. But I did buy a mini chest freezer because I wanted to split buying a half of grass fed beef with someone else (so I'll end up with a quarter) when I get back in my own apt, and I also bought the freezer for extra space because I do love to freeze special buys at home. Also once I'm in my own apt I intend to grow lots of veggies in containers. So since I now have the freezer, maybe I ought to think about this aspect of freezing.

Basically, is the bottom-line reason in a nutshell because you can extend the freezer life and prevent freezer burn? I think I already do a good job of that, so, how much, exactly, is the freezer life extended?

Or is my guess wrong and there's another reason you do it?

Love my FoodSaver, glad my Step-Mother talked me into buying one. I burned out my first one doing corn. I had it for about 2 years. A couple days later I was picking up another one. It isn't on my counter but it is very close by. I get my rolls at Costco, 4 rolls of 11 inch and 2 rolls of 8 inch for about $36, I was paying $27 for 2 rolls of one size at Walmart and Superstore.

I haven't shopped, but it might be worth your while to watch Craig's List or spread the word to look at yard sales. Missnuggy

Not in the budget right now but we have been thinking about getting a machine to vaccum seal food in.

Good Morning...For All You FoodSaver or Vac Machine Users !!!!
I Love my FoodSaver and use it all the time. Has a permanent place on my counter. I have the fold up type.
I use bags and rolls for the Sweet Attack Shop.
The prices are so much better than at foodsaver or a store.
Here's the link to their website...

They also sell on Ebay but the prices are better on their website.
I just bought 12 rolls of each 8" and 11.5" x 20'.
Their bags and bags made from the rolls, are wonderful and reusable.
Do check out the sale tab !!!!

Enjoy !
