I am going to try for a little canning this afternoon after working in the garden and picking some veggies.

Very envious. Wish you were my neighbor, I would have been there with bells on, free labor in exchange for learning how to can . . .

I had planned to Can It Forward tomorrow, but with Farmer's Market from 7 am until 1 pm and a birthday party to go to in the afternoon, I may have to do my canning on Sunday. Enjoy your day! What are you planning to can?

Thanks, I will check at my local Walmart. My tomatoes are starting to come on strong so I will need to get on the preserving! Plan to roast and freeze lots of them, but definitely have to make salsa.

I have gotten them at Walmart & Big R. But they usually dont have enough left to do all my canning so I buy cases thru Mrs. Wages. I can 2 to 3 roasters at a time, each of the chili & spagetti sauce.

I have found Mrs. Wages products at Wal-Mart when living in Missouri and also in Washington where I live now.

I had my first "almost" ripe tomato yesterday! Had to cut it cause it was split, but still delicious!

I have never heard of this product - is it a regional one or available nationally? Where do you find it in the store? Don't know if I would ever use it, but would like to check it out.

I use it all the time. Mostly use the spaghetti sauce, chili sauce & salsa. But in the past I have done the ketchup...didn't get thick enough to suit me. I make sure I measure the right amount of tomatoes for how ever many packets I am going to be using. For the salsa I mix tomatoes, peppers & onions, (celery...optional) then meaure out for each packet used.
I also use the different pickling ones for cucumbers, kohlrabi, asparagus, etc.

I used it last year & it's not bad. I plan to use it again this year if tomatoes ever get ripe!

My husband and kids love salsa but it can get expensive. I have a ton of tomatoes not the other stuff. So while out shopping I picked up a bag of Mrs.Wages Salsa mix. I was wondering if anyone has used it before and if you liked it?
