Story is a great way to push games. The Maddens and COD game are mostly multiplayer games that just should come out with a base game and have DLC addeded to it yearly.

I am 100% with Moxy.

I am AC biased so I have no issues with a new game coming out every year. The story is amazing each time and they make great additions to the gameplay. I think it works for games with a deep story like AC or Mass Effect. Other games, not so much. I have grown tired of CoD. I recently sold MW2, Black Ops, and MW3. It's not fun for me anymore. Sports games would also benefit from using DLC instead of the annual iterations. I don't play Madden, but being in the Philly area I wouldn't buy one with the Giants on the cover even if I did play. I love FIFA games, but I only buy them every other year. I'm happy with just a roster update and new teams being added.

Well Moxy, I think if the game is going to take you to a new place and show a new style of area then it will be worth having a sequel if they can do it yearly. Call of duty is the same game only different locals and different weapons and perks. That could easlily be its one dcl or game update. I think it will be awesome to see an assassin in New York during the American revolution. No tall buildings but lots of wooded areas. So the game mechanics would have to change drastically for it be a whole new experience. I have been getting weary about the call of duty games because they change a couple things in it but it still plays the same. This year the only thing I can say that they changed was support, specialist, and attack packages that will allow people to do more with the experince. I can never get 21 kills in a row to get what is it MOAB so support works fine with me.

AC is going to be very different this time from what they are saying (yay Revolutionary war! As a denizen right next to Valley Forge I want this to be awesome!!) They are rebuilding it from the ground up and I like each time having a few games to really explore it (though I guess this will be the last set, sigh)

That being said, yearly releases have led to me getting regular V-day gifts for the first time in my life :P And yeah, the Madden's etc have gotten tiresome- we are not Giants fans so will NOT be getting this year's, but if ever they change it remarkably or the Eagles win the Super Bowl, we'll get it again :)

The easiest way for me to look at it is like a book series- used to be sequels could take their time, now they can't. But the books/games still tend to make me happy and are enjoyable!

Assassins Creed is getting a little dusty for me. I'll play every other game. Madden could get away with an online roster update. That said, I do enjoy the yearly release of Call of Duty. I like the current pattern of flopping time periods: historic and modern.

I personally think that they should release a game every two to three years but then they would not make as much money and some of the games should have come out as DLC instead of a whole game....it's a scam if you ask me

There are talks that the yearly sequels to games are getting pretty old. Every year there is a call of duty game, madden, and now Assassin Creed. Does yearly release give developers the ability to create something new. Or should they release the games every 2 to 3 years?
