Well I got mine on Wednesday, and have only played around with it for about 3-4 hours or so. I decided on the 3G/WiFi model due to the bundle pack, though I didn't realize you have to sign up for 1 month BEFORE you can receive the free month of 3G service...Also your free game only comes after 30-days of being signed up (I hate you AT&T). The free 8GB memory card was nice though, and I guess having the 3G option isn't so bad IF the price for service comes down in the future. I also received Uncharted as a gift, though I am hoping to find some gamer deals on cheaper memory cards in the future, so I can keep my games on one card instead of many.
It's a nifty little device with alot of power and controll inputs. I can see the screen extremely well while in bed, and decently when playing outside, though playing in some of the night-time scenes in uncharted became a little difficult to tell any details of objects. I pretty much used ALL of the control methods when playing the game, including the accelorometer and both touch-pads.
The device comes with AR Cards to work the with systems camera. You can download 3 free AR games (i'll probably only play 1 or 2 more than once though). Eye of Judgement is also a downloadable games.
Social Apps just included, and I've already spent some time watching Netflix (though I have like 10 devices I can watch it from now).
NEAR-app, as creepy as it sounds, i do enjoy seeing what people around me actually play, it's also encouraging to see so many people playing the Vita already. (There's like 30 people who show up on my 2-kilo radius).
PSP and Mini Games Galore, there are a ton of these to download if you just want games (assuming that your willing to buy PSP games instead of Pirating them). Way more options than the 3DS has out in comparison.
AT&T doesn't want you to use the device like your smartphone. Meaning you can't use the voice-chat unless one of you is on Wifi. Also all those games/music/movies you want to download on the go? Not allowed. The only thing you can do with it (so far) is limited chat, Updates, Maps, Some Apps, and mobile gaming. It's not bad, it's just... My iPhone can do so much more on the go (just not as prettily).
There is alot more content than my 3DS had after 6-8 months of it being on the market. Still, there isn't alot of options out there, I figure that like with all lauchs the developers are doing there standard "Meh" titles to see how the market takes them. I'm enjoying the titles I have already, it feels like I am playing a console on the go, just there aren't as many options as I'd like.
This thing only fits in Large Pockets! It IS a mobile console! HUGE compared to the DS... but much more professional looking.
Expensive Games! Uncharted was 50 bucks ($45 downloaded). Other titles range $29.99-49.99. You can always buy Minis and PSP games for it though in the $1-$30 range.
Yes and No. I only bought it because I had money to blow, and love toys. All my other devices can give me the entertainment that the Vita has given me so far, but I wanted it because I've already invested alot into Playstation and look forward to the future (playing a game I really enjoy on my PS3, then able to play it on my PSVita while travelling).
If you have a device that entertains you, then you don't need a Vita. If you have money to blow and you enjoy toys, or are a playstation fan, then by all means, enjoy it!
