Has anyone heard anything on how Vita sales have been since the first week. I have not heard anything since then.

Oh okay. Thanks for looking on that for me. I have been paying close attention to what they said and the way the say it in recent months when they were trying to show that they had a sucessful playstation move launch when they started though in the word of shipped rather than sold.

I checked the Press Report and Sony has sold 1,198,812 devices in both Japan and USA. Not sure how many they have shipped.

I do agree though, I think they system will have to have a drop in price to succeed. It's smart to wait for that drop. I wouldn't be suprised to see the WIFI only version drop to 199.99 in the next few months. The only reason they wouldn't is if Sony can't justify dropping it due to the fact it has a quad-core processor and a quad-core graphics processor. That's kinda cool considering that most new tablets only include a dual-processor.

Not to correct you but Sony said 1.2 million shipped...not sold. They have been acting pretty sneaky when releasing information to investors lately. LOL. That is a good sign but in reality we have only had the system out 1 week in the US and I am very curious how it does this week. I have a bold prediction but I think in 4-6 months you will see a price drop.

Well the good news for early adopters and those planning to buy a Vita is Sony released an announcement that it's sold approximately 1.2 Million units (approx 400,000+ took the first 2-3 months to sale in Japan), but UK, US, PAL areas seem to be doing good in their first week. I'm going to assume it's mostly bulk sales made to the stores, how many actual customers purchased them off store shelves remains to be seen. Regardless, this is good news to encourage developers to think about creating more games. So far there are 25 Vita Games with 70 in development for 2012 release (not including the 275+ psp & mini games you can currently download).
I'm just looking forward to games dropping in price soon. I would really like to play Rayman Origins (beautiful game in my opinion) for a little less than what's out there.

I was an early adopter getting the 3DS, so when they dropped the price by $80 I was initially upset, but now seeing how all the free games I downloaded are equivalent to about $100-ish, I'm not so sad. It's not games I'd think about downloading directly, but I have enjoyed the majority of them since they've become available (waiting was the hard part).

Oh, and I was able to hook up my BluTooth headset to it. What a nifty little trick, makes shifting around/moving a LOT easier than with my wired headphones. Though, when devices are stored, I still pipe my music to them through the iPhone and not the Vita.

I wonder if PSP sales will be higher than the vita this week like what happened in Japan the following week afte the Vita released. I am sorry but I could not find any reason to fork over 299.00 for the wifi version of it that i had preordered. I actually went to the game store and had them transfer the money to the Mass Effect 3 collector edition. I had the money to blow but I got burned with the 3DS already where I could have gotten it almost a 100 bucks less than when it first came out. I will wait. If trends in Japan continue like they did this go around I see the Vita dropping in price in about 4-6 months. By the hopefully there will be games i can find myself playing for about 30-45 mintues on the bus to work.

Well I got mine on Wednesday, and have only played around with it for about 3-4 hours or so. I decided on the 3G/WiFi model due to the bundle pack, though I didn't realize you have to sign up for 1 month BEFORE you can receive the free month of 3G service...Also your free game only comes after 30-days of being signed up (I hate you AT&T). The free 8GB memory card was nice though, and I guess having the 3G option isn't so bad IF the price for service comes down in the future. I also received Uncharted as a gift, though I am hoping to find some gamer deals on cheaper memory cards in the future, so I can keep my games on one card instead of many.

My Thoughts?
The Nice:
It's a nifty little device with alot of power and controll inputs. I can see the screen extremely well while in bed, and decently when playing outside, though playing in some of the night-time scenes in uncharted became a little difficult to tell any details of objects. I pretty much used ALL of the control methods when playing the game, including the accelorometer and both touch-pads.
The device comes with AR Cards to work the with systems camera. You can download 3 free AR games (i'll probably only play 1 or 2 more than once though). Eye of Judgement is also a downloadable games.
Social Apps just included, and I've already spent some time watching Netflix (though I have like 10 devices I can watch it from now).
NEAR-app, as creepy as it sounds, i do enjoy seeing what people around me actually play, it's also encouraging to see so many people playing the Vita already. (There's like 30 people who show up on my 2-kilo radius).
PSP and Mini Games Galore, there are a ton of these to download if you just want games (assuming that your willing to buy PSP games instead of Pirating them). Way more options than the 3DS has out in comparison.

The Ugly:
AT&T doesn't want you to use the device like your smartphone. Meaning you can't use the voice-chat unless one of you is on Wifi. Also all those games/music/movies you want to download on the go? Not allowed. The only thing you can do with it (so far) is limited chat, Updates, Maps, Some Apps, and mobile gaming. It's not bad, it's just... My iPhone can do so much more on the go (just not as prettily).
There is alot more content than my 3DS had after 6-8 months of it being on the market. Still, there isn't alot of options out there, I figure that like with all lauchs the developers are doing there standard "Meh" titles to see how the market takes them. I'm enjoying the titles I have already, it feels like I am playing a console on the go, just there aren't as many options as I'd like.
This thing only fits in Large Pockets! It IS a mobile console! HUGE compared to the DS... but much more professional looking.
Expensive Games! Uncharted was 50 bucks ($45 downloaded). Other titles range $29.99-49.99. You can always buy Minis and PSP games for it though in the $1-$30 range.

Recommendation?
Yes and No. I only bought it because I had money to blow, and love toys. All my other devices can give me the entertainment that the Vita has given me so far, but I wanted it because I've already invested alot into Playstation and look forward to the future (playing a game I really enjoy on my PS3, then able to play it on my PSVita while travelling).

If you have a device that entertains you, then you don't need a Vita. If you have money to blow and you enjoy toys, or are a playstation fan, then by all means, enjoy it!

I think I am going to let my reserve go and get my money back on it. I didnt feel the vibe that they were trying real hard to sell this and with Japan only having big sales the first week and then getting beat out by the PSP the following week in hardware sales doesnt look to be very promising for the price they are trying to sell it for.

I too don't think I will be getting the Vita on day one but I think before the Summer is over it will be in my possession. I just have to find a good plan to work with it. WIFI option is nice to have but unlike my 3DS having a 3G option would be good too. Lots to think about thanks for putting up some facts/thoughts.

I am on the fence to in forking over the money for the Vita. I find myself debating on ATT wifi because I have an Iphone with unlimited data but my wife fell into the the top 5% becasuse she was streaming pandora on her phone and was warned by ATT that they will be throttling down her 3G speeds. I am sorry but 3G speeds on ATT is terrible. I cant even get it inside my house. So gaming on it will be very hard to do on that network. I tend to watch videos on the bus to and from work but I have to wait 5 mintues for a facebook picture to load up. I will have to try it out for the free month subscription but will cancel it as soon as i can. The only game I want to play is uncharted.

So only two weeks away from when this little gaming device comes out and it seems like I'm receiving a wealth of information on it from my gaming sites. It's got me excited!

I had no plans on purchasing this, but recent reviews and what it can do are making me smile. The device is $249 ($299 for the 3G version, AT&T Data plan available but not required), and though it would be nice to have gaming and updating on the go, I think I will be fine with the WiFi for now. The Monthly Data Plans AT&T have are: $15/250MB, $25/2GB, and $30/3GB... I don't know about you, but I use my smartphone so much if I didn't have unlimited data I'd be spending $1,000 or more a month! These plans just don't fit my lifestyle of movie watching and music listening on the go.

If you can get past the large pricetag, the device is compatible with over 250 titles and minis at launch (more expected to be compatible by then also). These aren't all *new* titles though, but consists of many PSOne, PSP, PSN and PS Suite Games that are already on the market. I've invested a good sum of money and look forward to porting these games over to the new device (here I come FFVII, and thank goodness I put your save file on the cloud!). You'll also be able to play games over a network between the Vita and the PS3 via CrossPlay, and if you don't have anyone to play with then you can setup your PS3 to RemotePlay to your Vita Screen.

I enjoy my 3DS, but mostly I find myself playing old Nintendo Games on it, not many games out that really appeal to me yet besides Mario 3D. My iPhone is great for games also and has kept me satisfied for quite some time. Don't know if I will buy a Vita on day one, but it seems kinda cool that I can get it to work with my current setup. Now if only it'd play games in 3D...
