I am all about gadgets for weight loss and fitness. I am currently using the Striiv device--I like the challenges on it. The game isn't much, but overall I think it is worth it, and I like the fact that I can use my energy to donate to charity.

I have an elliptical that has programs on it. It also has a Heart Rate Monitor which is a huge help. It keeps me honest XD I also use my laptop for the most important part of my exercise: Music!!!!!!!!!!! I used to have a pedometer on my cell, but it used so much of my power that I got rid of it.

I dont think I use any gadgets. I was using my son's 3DS as a pedometer as I put it in my side pocket and just walked around getting him coins to use on mini games.

I use a pedometer to track my steps. That's about it. I thought about getting a fitbit, but haven't made a decision yet.

I don't use any gadgets but the fitbit looks very interesting. I, too, have a lot of trouble sleeping and staying asleep, and I think I would find that information helpful and informative.

Well, I don't really have a gadget I work with, I used to have a pedometer I'd use to track my daily steps but that was all. Since my knees aren't what they used to be, I've been limited to walking the dog as my form of exercise. I also purchased an Elliptical as my huge non-impact gadget to work out with. I'm not fond of doing the same exercise over and over again, but so far I can tell a difference in that it seems to be strengthening my knee joints as I've used it (alot less "clicking" when I move).

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a cheap cheap model of an elliptical due to my height. I bought a Sole E-25, which is the cheapest model they had for that brand, but it feels sturdy and has the minimum 20" stride length I needed to keep from making it an awkward movement. I noticed alot of really cheap walmart-type ellipticals which maxed out at 14", this would have been fine if I was 5'1".

Besides for that, I used to use the Wii, but now perfer the Kinect and Move as options to keep me moving. I had to stop playing the kinect for about a year because I was temporarily in a third floor apartment and my neighbors were complaining that I was making their ceiling fan "Break Dance on the ceiling". Oh well, I'm back to it now!
:)

Any recommended Heart Rate Monitors out there?

I love the fitbit. The sleep feature sold me on it, as I have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I like the ultra, which tracks steps/hills. It has shown me that one of my regular dog walking routes is similar to walking up seven flights of stairs. No wonder the dogs and I lost weight on our walks!

I also feel that the fitbit community adds value to the gadget - there is a fan-run facebook site and members encourage each other to get in as many steps as possible. The posting to facebook or twitter keeps you motivated not to embarrass yourself by being too lazy. Although, I must admit, that I haven't been feeling well lately, so I haven't been getting even close to my 10k steps daily, so I haven't set my steps to post automatically to my fb or twitter.

I'm bummed that the fitbit is not integrated with Sparkpeople yet. They are working with other sites, like my fitness pal and health record but I don't know that I'm ready to test out another site just yet. I'm inputting food data into two websites as it is. (I prefer sparkpeople's nutrition tracker for specific nutrient tracking.)

I looked at the bodybugg, but the subscription fee turned me off on it. I've noticed a few other similar pedometer gadgets being released, like Jawbone's "UP" product (but reviews on that have been very poor.) There's also a cool Nike bracelet with gps releasing soon, but it is pricey, and I doubt I'll try it.

I've put Fitbit's Aria scale on my wishlist for my birthday in May, but it's not a necessity. It's a wifi scale like Withings body fat scale, and it uploads your weight, body fat, and lean mass measurements wirelessly onto the fitbit website. Up to eight separate people/accounts can use one scale, so if you have several people in your family, that may offset the $130 www.fitbit.com/product/aria

Not sure that it counts, but my biggest gadget and the one that I've used a lot to lose weight is my treadmill. When the weather was better and I was feeling better, I would walk with the dogs for one hour in the morning and walk on the treadmill for an hour or so in the evening. I bought a surfshelf for it, so I can put my laptop on it and facebook or play casual games while I'm walking. I sometimes use a nike+ pod in my shoe which transmits my pace, etc to my ipod touch. I don't run, so it's probably not as useful as my pedometer.

I also have a Wii, which helped me lose the first 15 lbs, but I've gotten away from using it. I should add it into my daily routine to ease myself back into exercising. I'm still walking the dogs when the weather isn't too bad, but the winter weather gets me down.

I have used the fitbit and the bodybugg....I liked the bodybugg but not the fitbit...it just didn't impress me so I ended up taking it back to the store....it tracked the steps you made and your sleep habits but I then realized that tracking my sleep wasn't really that important to me since I slept like a baby....the only draw backs to having the bodybugg is I didn't want to pay the yearly subscription fees with that I can't remember but I think it was something like 75 dollars someone correct me if I'm wrong....

I want to try the slimcoach but haven't really heard anyone else give it a review yet so I'm holding out on that one
