I am probably not as good at keeping track of them as I could be, but I try.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to have to do this because I exercise quite a bit, and it's been very slow coming off. I think that is my problem (and potato chips). I've only had one cup of coffee and an Activia Fibre yogurt so far today, so I can start now.

Hi Donna,

Tracking food has been the one thing that has 100% helped me throughout my weightloss. When I didn't track, I wouldn't see any results. It was another SP member that encouraged me to track and that's when it all came together for me.

At the very least, track for a week and don't try to be healthy. Just eat whatever you normally eat these days and track. If your experience is anything like mine was, you may be surprised to find some serious calorie bombs in your diet (mine were french fries and soda).

That is a great idea SohoJose. I'm guilty of the BLT's as well. I've actually got to track my food. I have the exercise part down now, but I've got to start writing my food down, as I have no idea how many calories I'm taking in a day. Should actually start that today which would give me a good idea of what I'm actually doing.

AnthonyF, I made a custom food called 'Calories' set to serving 1 and calories 1. If I want 100 calories, I just type in 100 servings. Works like a charm.

It's also a time saver if I want to log something that I know the calories of but don't want to spend the time adding the custom food. For example, say I buy a energy bar and I know it's 100 calories. I just enter 100 calories via my 'calories' food. When I have time, I'll go back and create a custom food for the energy bar.

This one way to deal with 'BLTs'. I go to costco and my kids love the samples there. I usually add 100-200 calories if I do the samples too.

I don't really concern myself with it. I think overall it is not a big issue with me.

I was thinking of making a "100 calorie" food to add to the tracker. I would add that on days I feel like I had a little of this and that. You could also do different amounts. That way you don't have to go nuts trying to add .00008 oz of peanut butter!

I remember from a weight watcher meeting years ago, the leader talking about the dangers of BLT's. What are BLT's? Bites, Licks, & Tastes.

How often do we take a little taste of something? What about licking the knife after spreading peanut butter? Have you ever thought about how these calories accumulate throughout the day?

Personally, I need to work on this...especially with two young kids in the house. Not only are there some BLT's available while making their food, but also when they leave just a bite left on their plate.

Does anyone have any methods to prevent themselves from taking BLT's? What about tracking methods? What works best for you?
