The silly way that you will look doing that in your living room and someone happens to look into your window. I still can not get past some of the games for the wii due to the wacky hand movements or gestures that are needed. PS2 had the eye toy and it failed miserably the thing with the ball looks like that cheap 19.99 cam game that you can get at walmart and play. What is that game the one where you swat bugs or something while on the cam on your tv. Same thing same concept. They look similar in my book.

The key to keeping core gamers is to keep the controller. We love the controller! Peter M. of Fable, has hinted at some ideas for the next Fable. Since you will be king, you will have the opportunity to interact with your subject. While he can't be too specific, you will be "touching" people. So move (via the controller) to a person and you can hug, hit, etc. them via Natal.

For FPS games, using the controller, combined with squad commands using hand singles would be cool. Or what about throwing grenades? The controller kind of feels like pulling a gun trigger, imagine using Natal to see you throwing frags? Tell me that wouldn't be fun?

I'm not sold either. Wii and Natal are great for non-gamers and non-gaming applications (ie control like turn xbox on) but gaming is still up in the air.

Hopefully with people like Kojima (Metal Gear Solid creator), we may see something new that will push things in a new direction.

I'm with Anthony on this. For starters, there are a few interviews with the Metal Gear creator and his vision is pretty solid (no pun intended).

MS is usually pretty good about keeping out a lot of shovelwear titles, but there are still a few.

Imagine playing CoD or a squad based game with the controller, and then lifting your hand up to issue squad commands.

Or imagine getting ready to watch a movie on Netflix or your computer's hard drive and saying, "xbox on" and then being able to flip through your movies without ever having to pick up a remote or controller.

This should be sweet. The one thing they are working on that needs fixed is the response time. Currently they are about on a 3 frame lag, but are trying to get it to 1. At least they are aware of it and are trying to get it perfected before release.

Dude, still have to disagree. Check out the e3 demos, and Peter Molyneux demo of Milo! www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPIbG

If natal is implemented correctly it will open a new world. Still will be determined by the developers.
The wii is not good because nintendo doesn't give the developers freedom.
But that is just my take.

you should also check this one of Brittney snow, actress. She is a loon, it is just funny

I still don't see the need for these additional devices. Most of the games on the wii that use it arent doing so well. Why even go that route on a high def system? I still see a bunch of crappy 3rd party games on ps3 and xbox 360.

Microsoft held a panel discussion at the Toyko Game Show yesterday regarding Project Natal. The panel included the creators of: Metal Gear, Mega Man, and Monkey Ball. For starters, I think this is a genius way for the 360 to get into the Japanese market. Secondly, I think we are going to see some really great things. The creator of Metal Gear seems especially pumped and mentioned he wants to create a new gaming experience that will attract his following of core gamers as well as attract new ones.

EA also mentioned over the last couple of days how they are trying to create a sports games.

rofl, after seeing that lady play the soccer game...I got scared. If I tried doing what she was doing...

She was jumping and head butting and using her hands and kicking...it was crazy. There was also a video clip of a fighting game where the kid was throwing punches and doing kicks, also crazy looking.

As for the video, I got DSL and just had some of the video download in the background. You can probably go to youtube and see it. Or just check out Major Nelson's webpage. Even from Tokyo he is doing a good job of updating stuff.

cool thanks. I am going to search later. My xbox speed is bad, so I can't really watch videos online like that.

Oh, and not to get on your case, but you need to be thinking about getting OFF that couch, not ways to stay on it! haha

For the PS3, it looks like two sticks with lighted balls on the end. There are accelometers (sp) and gyroscopes in it. I'm guessing this is pretty much like the using two wii-motes at once with the motion-plus. The lights on the end, I'm guessing, should act like the Hollywood style white balls to gather motion in animated films and video games. This hopefully will cut out on things like re-caliburation such as the motion plus on the Wii.

Yeah, the video clips of Natal are interesting. The lady they used to demonstrate the soccer game was really getting into it. Looked like crazy exercise. The soccer game looks like it can be split screen, where one person can kick the ball and the other person can be a goalie.

I'm interested in the small details, like flipping your hand on the coach to select movies. Or opening your mouth to breath fire. Or moving your hands and feet to steer a car and accelerate. They also showed a clip of a guy holding up his skate board and it took a picture of it and was able to use it in the game. It sure looked like the Wii Fit type of balancing, but minus the board and controls. Of course these are promotional videos and we've certainly learned our lesson from similar videos of the Wii. We'll see. Anyone remember the one of the guy doing a flip over his couch while playing Metroid. Lol

BTW, the Tokyo game show videos are found on the "inside xbox" videos on the xbox dashboard. There are some Sony related ones on youtube, along with the announcement of the 250 GB Final Fantasy PS3.

natal looks awesome! that minority report deal would be way cool. I am sure they could do that with photos and such also. Not sure about the ps3 deal. I will have to browse around and see what it is like. Any word on how well the PS3 works?

The Tokyo game show/conference is showing some interesting things this week. First, Sony said their motion control is coming out in the Spring. Some new games and some old games will use it. I think they are remapping some of the controls that will allow the motion controls to work, such as in baseball games, etc. They are using an updated eye toy and two wands with light sensors on the end.
Project Natal hasn’t been given a release date, but most of the third party developers have confirmed they are working on at least one title using this feature. There was one game they were showing where you walk around as a Godzilla-type creature. You move your arms to knock buildings down and when you open your mouth, fire comes out. Also, they showed a clip of someone flipping their hands to browse through their Netflix streaming collection. They were sitting on the couch and browsing their selection in the same manner as Tom Cruise in Minority Report. Just moving their hands w/o holding any remote or controller.

Not positive. Looks like 2010 though. Maybe during E3 (not sure when that is, I think like March?) Rumor is a new xbox design might be involved, but it may be just a new bundle, that includes the natal.

from the showing of it on the Jimmy Fallon show. It looked like it could be amazing. It was able to recognize when a different person showed up, and really seemed to mimic the persons actions.
i am sure the first couple versions will be buggy, but eventually I think it will happen. And before you know it this technology will be everywhere!

I saw an interesting quote from Bill Gates about this. He was talking about it and said something like, "imagine being able to pick up a baseball bat and playing". Someone said, "yeah, that is already out...it's called the Wii.". He said, "no, I mean picking up an ACTUAL baseball bat".

We'll see though. Right now it seems more hype than anything. Bill's goal is to eventually run it into the PC and being able to move files and interact with your computer without touching anything. Again...we'll see.

Hi, I'm new to this team, but thought this was pretty cool. They had a bit about it on our local news tonight.

It's the new camera controller for the Xbox360. Looks pretty cool, has voice recognition as well as motion sensing.
