I am probably the "perfect Nintendo fan"...I'll accept that one...BUT I'm NOT a new fan! I loved the N64 (even though I never had the privaledge of owning one), I have 2 Gamecubes (one we had given to my Hubby's brother, then got back when he got a Wii--the second we bought with Wedding gift money), I love my Wii system...

And besides that, I have a gameboy advance (so does Hubby), 2 DS systems (old and lite)(Hubby has a lite, too), xbox (junked from linux), xbox 360, PS original (not hooked up), PS2, PS3 (for blu-ray and media stuff), a dreamcast (also doesn't work), a Nintendo Virtual Boy (does work), a Game.com, and...I think that's about it.

While I don't play "hardcore" games---I still play plenty, and then I'm a "hardcore" gamer in my own right---other than the fact that I have no time to play anymore. And I'm definitely the hardcore gamer on Wii Exercise (and pretty valuable over there, since most don't have a gamer background there, even if I do say so myself). So, please, don't just assume that I'm JUST Wii...I'm just a big fan of it and do prefer it over others. (Except when it comes to things like "TNA Impact" the video game---got that for 360--some things are just meant for buttons!)

Oh, and forgot the "techy geek" part---Does a degree in Computer Science count? Cuz I got that part down too. lol.

I guess I should also include that I'm not doing this to argue or debate back and forth about this...just to give some background/insight into me. I'm just trying to understand lately---I know that you had a Wii and decided to get rid of it...then you were joking around about hating Nintendo "because you didn't have a Wii" (at least I think that was you)....but now you really seem to hate them...and I'm just trying to figure out why...since it seems that the two of us have at least slightly the same background/understanding. For that matter, do you even like DDR?

The Wii came out 5 years after the Gamecube, so a 4 year plan is not a longshot. I just see it as a way to milk every dime they can out of the Wii technology without doing vast improvements. I don't think I will get the new wii because A) I have an SD card, and B) I don't want to see my blocky characters in HD.

You also have to understand where I am coming from to see my 'dislike' over what nintendo is doing for me. I am not a Casual Video Gaming Mommy, I am more of a recreational/core gamer and techy geek. The Wii to me is not worth the price, the price tag is way to high for its limitations with "core" games. With the Wii Party system, you're likely to buy 4 controllers for your family (4 x (39.99 + 19.99) = $240... Not encluding the Motion Plus), with the High-End Gaming Systems, you're likely to buy two Max (roughly $100). The 360 and PS3 fit my personality right now, 360 for entertaining games and PS3 for an entertainment/game system. Nintendo is targetting someone else besides their previous fanboys. This is old news. Many of the Sparkers on here are Nintendos new audience, Mommy_T sounds like a perfect example (no disrespect intended).

Regardless, the Wii is a GREAT money maker and will continue to be dominant throughout this generation, thanks to the casual audience who love the Wii. Especially with the new "Target all moms!" strategy to gain new audiences they admitted to at E3. I'm just one of the older school nintendo junkies who feels left behind as they compaign for those new audiences.

What's funny is that a study compared the Wii to a Virus. This being that people were spreading it around to their friends: Group A takes the Wii to Group B's House, they play together and interest Group B in a Wii. Group A takes Wii home and continues to play the Wii for about a month longer and then let it collect dust for a few months. Meanwhile, Group B has bought a Wii and taken it to Group C's house, thus continuing the cycle of buying, playing for 2 months and 'infecting' another person. I thought it was humorous. Since it had been about 5 months since I had turned my Wii on.

I'm just tired of Nintendo relying on my fanboyism to keep me attached to their merchandise.

Now it is true that its too soon for a new gaming system just 4 years after the release of their best seller but they have the cash to do it. I think it would be great to have a hard drive and hi def capabiities. I probbrably will not buy it right away but I will get it a year down the line from its release since they are known of being out of stock for years.

First of all, for it being "too soon"--the Wii was released in November of 2006, so it's 4 years before a new one in 2010. It's about standard for a new game console/generation to come out.

And as far as opinions go, I completely disagree, DRWALKERIT. I like the Wii--it's my FAVORITE console by far! As for those games not going down in price---those are the ones I like the most. Most of the ones that have gone down in price aren't worth it. And talking about it costing as much as a "high end system" AFTER getting all the controllers!! Shesh, no matter which system you pick, you only get ONE controller with the system, so that really doesn't matter, since you have to pay $50 for ANY controller you get (unless you really like those cheap pieces of 3rd party junk).

I shake my head at thee, Nintendo.

As I appreciate the better graphics, 2010 is way to late for it and it not being a new generation. And I would love nintendo if they would lower the prices of some of their games after 2 years of having them on the shelves. Nintendo games hold their value longer than any other console game brand... and not due to quality. I will agree that Nintendo can create some games that just BLOW the other WII games away. However.. I feel like nintendo keeps spitting in my eye after being a loyal fan for so long. I feel like I am paying a price for a high end console (20 buck difference from a decked out PS3 AFTER I buy all the Wii controllers/nunchucks) however I feel like I am playing a Gamecube with some waggle action. There is no power! Nintendo is the cause for me not walking down the Wii Game aisle anymore..

And what the heck is up with this new DS?! You finally are releasing it once the sales finally decline... YOU BUILT THIS MODEL 2 YEARS AGO, ADMIIIITTTT ITTTT! And I hate that you want me to buy a new DS everytime you release a new case color. I do not care that it is cobalt blue. No. I don't. Really.

All this said... THANK YOU FOR RELEASING MARIO RPG FOR THE VC! God I love that game. So much that rebuying it for a third time was worth it.

I hope that this will make MS and Sony squirm a bit more and try to get back up there challenging the big boys with next gen console with almost the same graphics.

Thanks for the article. I still am a little miffed they're talking about a new version so soon after the initial release. This was a huge investment for me as it was, and two years for a new one, that's way too soon. Just my personal feeling about it.

Make it a good day,

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated that they are in development....here's the story I found when looking this up....although it really doesn't have much detail on anything other than possibly the way they will store the data on the system.

(although, there's already been an anouncement on a new Nintendo DS system--at least an updated version...again.)

There's rumors in the game magazines. I don't think Nintendo has officially commented on it.

where did you find this info? (There's someone in Wii Exercise asking about a new Wii, and I'd like to post it on that thread, too.)
