There were a couple of reasons for this ideas not working. Some were:

1. Safety (People can get too into the game and lose touch with the reality of where they are, or their balance, and of course risk of epileptic attacks)
2. Production costs
3. Space constrictions for gyms

Virtual reality games were also being developed and halted because the producers realized that "when you are in a virtual reality, reality does not happen" and it was deemed dangerous on a variety of levels.

If you *think* you can do something, or that you cannot, either way, *you are right*

Yeah. I like that idea. Rampage for the Wii. And to punch down the buildings you have to punch with the Wii remotes. That would be awaysom and if you wantto smash a car coming down the street punch downwards. Yeah yeah. I can see it now.

I remember that Bike "game" too. And you've reminded me that I have Rampage for the Wii. That might be a good one to use to do upper body work.

I totally agree tho. Video Arcades for adults with showers and tokens and prizes? lol. I can't wait

I think I remember seeing them but never at the gym. I am starting to think that with the sucess of the Wii with Wii Fit and Sports and people having fun while burning calories gyms in the very near future are going to tap into that market of people. There are some places already starting to use Wii Fit during the workout routines. So it is starting up. EA is desiging a fitness game so be ready for there to be a flood of fintess games coming in the door.

About 10-15 years ago I saw a workout machine that had a video game on it. Basically it was kind of like a stair stepper with added arm movement to simulate a ladder climb. With it was a screen that had a Rampage like game on it. You were a gorilla or a lizard monster and you raced the other monster up the building.

During this same time, I saw a gym that had bikes with screens. It showed a bike rider in a race. You could either race the computer or race the other bikers next to you.

I also saw a rowing machine that did something similar.

These were at all different places, but during the same time frame. Now, I don't see it at all. I haven't seen it at the gym or any workout stores. Do these type of machines still exist? Why would they stop making them?
