I think all goggles leave some marks, but they shouldn't be severe. It's important to find goggles that fit well. The best way to do that is to hold the goggles up to your face without the strap, press them against your face, and see if, for the most part, they stay on (for a second or 2) Try is with a few different brands. If you get a pair that fir your face properly, you shouldn't have to wear the strap so tight.

Good to know. Given how I look in a swimsuit, if people are going to make fun of me it probably won't be for the raccoon eyes. emoticon

I think it's normal to have SOME mark, that goes away over the next few minutes. But they should not be so tight as to give you a headache, nor so loose or with gaps that cause leakage. I wouldn't worry about the marks as long as they go away fairly quickly.

I'm a beginning (and really struggling!) swimmer. When I take my goggles off, I have raccoon-like suction marks around my eyes. That leads me to think the goggles are too tight. But I've also had the goggles on not tight enough, and ended up with water in my goggles. That kind of threw me off my entire workout. Prior to getting out of the pool after my last swim, I adjust the straps so they were a little looser. It felt like they were snug enough, and during a few test dunks no water got into my goggles.

Am I worrying needlessly? Is it normal for goggles to be so tight they leave marks? Or is this just one of those matters of personal preference: people like me who really don't want water in their eyes wear them tighter than people who are less squeamish.
