Hi, Well I am a runner, too. But, I did ride my mountain bike once in a while. After I did a couple of marathons, I was looking for more challenge, so I started triathlete training.
I've only done 2 so far. But, being older (67 in a few weeks) my improvements are slow in coming anyway, so I don't worry too much about it. I have noticed my endurance seems to be improving now that I swim and ride more.
My swim improvement came very quickly, and I don't see my running suffering as a result. But, like I said, I'm not a really competitive or fast runner anyway.
I'm training for a marathon, and for triathlons at the same time. Two days ago, I did a Sprint Tri, yesterday rode the bike for 8 miles, and today did a long run of 20 miles. My legs are sore right now, more than usual for a 20 mile run, probably overdid it, but that's okay, I have a few weeks until the marathon race.
Good topic, though. I have been wondering how everyone else balances tri and running training too. Now you know my story. :)
