Thanks for sharing the article. Finally more people are paying attention to our foods and the manufacturing companies that control the government decisions etc on the food industry. We all need to refuse to purchase the foods and products that are not healthy for us.

Keep on track

There is a good article on obesogens in the January 2014 issue of Prevention magazine, pages 104-111. It's a special report entitled, "What's Making Us Fat?" One of the culprits is hand sanitizer.

Thanks for the comment Terri. I always try to see the silver lining in every cloud. I kinda have to. It emoticon for 7-9 months each year here. And NO... I do not live in a rainforest.

I didn't read the whole article. I was just interested in the info on chemicals and never saw the part about the government.

@ Dorothy - I like your comment "Got to get rid of the long term so-called reps in the house of Representatives and Congress and have terms so that the industry will not keep buying them." That would take an act of God. Or another American Revolution, something my generation started chanting in the 60's with Janis and Jimi. Big governments are corrupt. This "Republic" was founded, "...of the people, by the people and for the people...". Now it is "of the politician, by the politician, for the politician and let everyone else fend for themselves". Man did I clean that one up. emoticon I remembered that this is SparkPeople not Facebook.

Okay. Calm, OOOOMMMMMMM!

So do I and another group that we have to worry about is the Codex that is trying to get rid of all the healthy foods and vitamins and minerals along with the herbs.. Got to get rid of the long term so-called reps in the house of Representatives and Congress and have terms so that the industry will not keep buying them.

I agree with TERRIJ7. There is way too much government involvement in our lives now. I feel so over-regulated, no pun intended.

I am also leery of all these studies. There are so many of them that conflict in opinion. Who do we believe?

I'm not surprised at all about these findings. Even trying to grow your own food organically, as we do, I still wonder what kinds of chemicals are in the soil already. And since I rent garden plots from the park district, any chemicals that my neighboring gardeners use can still end up blowing in to my plots or get mixed in to the soil when they plow everything after the season is over. Very frustrating.
The more I read, the more I am determined to buy organic whenever possible, and to grow as much as I can myself.

Interesting article but I would definitely not be in favor of more government regulation of just about anything. I no longer trust them--consumers need to inform themselves and make good choices.

A good discussion on the chemicals that contribute to weight issues. This is one of the reasons I eat organic when I can. I like to grow my own food to be sure of what I get.
