We do have cats roaming all over the neighborhood, but they must be well fed and lazy because they haven't ever stopped the influx of mice. There's a fox that lives fairly close too, but he/she rarely ventures into the housing area.

I used to use D-Con, but now that I have a dog, that's not an option. Guess I'd better get out more traps and steel wool. The weather has started to cool off a bit here. It's a welcome relief from the outrageous heat that we've had this summer. I wonder how the drought has affected the mouse population.

Remember, nobody can go back to the very beginning and make a brand new start, but anyone can start here and make a brand new end.

Can you encourage neighborhood cats to take care of the mice?

Nice site. Thanks for the post!

They have an organic fertilizer that I might try in the spring. After getting overrun by mice last winter, I was afraid to compost. Every few years they descend on our suburban neighborhood and last year was bad.

Found a real-life nursery whose online presence caught my eye.

It's called Florida Hill Nursery, and GUESS where it might be...

Ordered three OXALIS ("false shamrock") plants. Two of one type, and a third that's a bit different.

I've had great luck with oxalis before, as a house plant. They are hardy, and grow pretty fast!

You also may plant it out (in the yard)!

All three arrived, efficiently packed, within days, and in excellent shape for potting.

Potted one this morning and brought it to work. Will do same tomorrow for the other two, though I'll probably carry them to work one-at-a-time.

If memory serves, all three eventually should get little, white blossoms, which close in the evening, and open mornings.

Here's the nursery's site:

It's so great to share something other than exercise and food.
