I talk to my plants inside the house and out, as well as the trees and shrubs. Not nice to leave anybody out of the conversation, after all!

Yes I do...and you know what? Plants are known to respond to light, but they can respond - and produce - sounds as well, new research says.

Remember the Andy Griffith show where his girlfriend decided to grow a garden for the first time? Her veggies were bigger than his. He was jealous.

She talked to the plants.

So, he talked to a couple, feeling very uncomfortable about it.
AND, he got caught talking to them!

Remember?

Oh, I love you guys! Gabby, you're absolutely right---CLC I can relate! For the record I found myself apologizing to my grapefruit tree when my little black cat used the pot for a litter box, telling it how sorry I was, that she poops in my house, too. P.S. I should add that I apologized to the chair for accidently kicking it one day.

Golly, that was going to be my next question: what do you say to your plants. LOL

I wish we had a big animated ROFL emoticon to put on here. You had me laughing at talking to your peppers! Hahaha I love it! I can see doing that, too.

Okay, 1st of all, I talk to EVERYTHING! lol. But, I figure that Jesus talked to a fig tree & told us to talk to mountains...so, seems like we are supposed to talk to everything!
But, I have to laugh because last summer I was in my garden singing the "dr pepper" jingle to my pepper plants (you know...I'm a pepper, he's a pepper, she's a pepper, wouldn't you like to be a pepper to?) and look at my dog & said, "we had better go inside before one of the neighbors hears me singing to the plants & thinks I'm crazy", right then I looked over & sure enough, my neighbor was out & laughing hysterically!

The only thing I usually say in my garden is in the Spring especially: "Are you a weed? Should I pull you?"
What I've learned is that perennials are real shy and don't reply. The weeds lie...

Oh my gosh I was young when that book about talking to plants came out. And of course I read it and yes I do talk to my plants, sometimes. I have no idea how much it actually helps, but I do know that if I am talking to them and fondling them gently, I am also looking for pests and disease symptoms. I can catch them faster by really focusing on my plants, talking or not... but why not talk to them? It certainly can't hurt.

I'm serious, here. emoticon And does it help????

Just read in a an adult fiction book, she said, 'I heard it's the oxygen you breathe on them."

He said, "You emit more carbon dioxide than oxygen. Perhaps it's the sound of your voice...."
