They can be both! I have 2 Bob Harper strength training DVDs that use kettebells, and 1 of his using kettebells that is cardio. But my muscles still feel it!

I have lupus (congenital) and use 15 but I want to move up quickly cos it's not really enough to *challenge* me.

I'm finding any Lauren Brooks youtube how-tos are AWESOME. I'm so impressed with her form!

I just started with kettlebells, 8 lbs ones. Any recommended online videos that are simple? I can't do 20-25 min. Fibromyalgia, but the kettles are only strength work I can do without hurting badly other than bodyweight exercises.

Runkeeper is *very* popular but may be the most expensive one--thought I'd mention it since it's sort of the standard.

I also used to use iTreadmill "all" the time. I liked how it has so much feedback in one screen. Also, I only like the ones that allow me to listen to MY music through their app...

Nike+ is a simple one that is also effective but iTM and Nike+ don't offer coaching.

There's a BUNCH. I use 5K runner for daily runs. I also have bigger, fancier running apps (for longer training) but I like the simplicity "ding ... run" or "ding ... walk". :)

I just ordered a gymboss - which is an interval timer. I think its going to come in handy on my walk-run cardio workouts and also to set up a routine with the kettlebells. You can set alot of different interval timer sets ------------------------------ and pick an exercise - and do it for a minute or so - then set a 15 second rest break and then go to the next set............... Im looking forward to that.

I just started with KBs (mine is a 15lb due to torn rotator -- I was afraid to go higher but I can already see I'll need more soon).

I find it's MORE cardio (sounds like we're doing about the same kind of thing, changing exercises, one after another -- I do about 25 minutes before saying, "Okay!").

I just found out about KB *LADDERS* -- if you're new to it, check youtube for that. I'm going to do it next with some of my favorite moves. :)

Yes, agree with Nancyanne, if you do them like you would a circuit with breaks in between, it's strength. However, if you do them one right after the other only breaking when you reach muscle fatigue, it's a form of inteval training where you're doing both cardio & strength at the same time. I love interval training. I've done it with dumbells and saw improvement in both areas fairly quickly. I also enjoy interval training on the stationary bike, but this would be cardio intervals only.

It's strength training, but depending on how high your heart rate gets up, it can be counted as cardio too. Sounds like this is the case for you!

I've never gotten into them, but from what I've seen kettlebells give an AWESOME workout! You are on a great path!

Can anyone tell me if kettlebell workouts are cardio or strenth training? Ive been doing a Danskin dvd that has 3 workouts on it ----- and I found a great workout on youtube so Ive been alteranting between these to hit different body parts.
Im liking the workouts................ and starting to feel a difference....... maybe even see one.
Strength training is the hardest thing for me.................... I just cant get started with a good weight training workout - so this is my first baby step toward that. Is it strength training? Im using an 8 pound kettlebell.........
