I have found my way back to a feeling I had when I was twenty... I used to bodybuild when I was younger with some close friends and a brother who pushed my motivation. He would say; "Wow your calves are awsome...they are bigger than mine! How'd you do that?" but he passed away in 1998 and ever since then I had tried a couple of times to go back and it just wasn't the right time, gym or atmosphere.

Now eleven years later I rediscovered STEP (I hate tredmills, bike, eliptical...boring)and with that a few other group classes that motivate me because of the other people there are just as pumped as me.

I train in a group for strength lifting weights to music three times a week and I do cardio 3 times a week. The cardio is a 55 min go go go 600 - 800 calarie burn and I also slip in a taichi/yoga/pilates class on Saturdays too, just to relax!

As for diet - EAT CLEAN by Tosca Reno
No pop or juice, just poweraid, water and lots of it, tea, and some coffee.

I may have not lost the weight but I feel way better!
I used to weigh 125 lbs when I was younger and I dont think I will ever be able to get back to that weight nor do I want to. I have maintained a weight off 150 - 155 lbs and the fat has melted away and turned into muscle. I just cant get rid of the spare tire that 2 births, one with c-section has

Hi, I am 44 yrs old, I am the mother of three boys, 14,10,10, and I have been married for 20 years. I work full-time. The only way I was able to drop 40 pounds and get in the best shape of my life was to make a commitment to myself and with alot of help from my DH. He feeds the kids most nights. On Sundays, I cook up most of my food for the week. Last Sunday, I pounded chicken breasts to make them cook faster and then grilled them on my George Foreman grill. I cut them halves or quarters and place them in individual baggies. Then, into a freezer baggie labelled chicken and the date which goes into the freezer. I roast asparagus with several tablespoons of basalmic vinegar, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of minced garlic. I roast for 12-15 minutes and let cool. Then, place in individual baggies and into the freezer they go. I do something similar to green beans. I measure out blueberries, strawberries, and cherries. I remove any pits or stems and freeze in individual baggies. I may cook some brown rice and freeze in containers for quick meals. I boil eggs and place in fridge. I measure out spinach and bag. I measure out hummus and nonfat yogurt with nofat ranch dressing mix into containers. I cut up broccoli and cauliflower and bag. Whew! Now, as the week goes I carry a big tote with an ice pack and all my food for the day. In case of emergency, I keep a protein shake mix in a shaker in my purse. As for workout, I love to train, but time is of the essence. I do cardio 7 days a week before I eat first thing in the morning while the kids are sleeping. I either hike or run/walk on the treadmill. Then, after work, I will train 5 days a week for 45-60 minutes of weight training and 20-30 minutes more cardio. My DH takes care of the kids. He usually works out before work so it is a trade off. We both want to be healthy. I hope this helps. Sorry I am so detail oriented. Can't help it;I'm an accountant. LOL.

I don't know that I have a "bikini body" yet.. but I wear one anyway! LOL

I work full time outside the home, and I am married and have three children. My workouts usually consist of a FIRM workout, P90X workout, running, or free weights with my hubby.. or a combo of these.

My meals are usually pretty easy.. baked or broiled chicken, brown rice, veggies, things like that.

I am learning that it's a lifestyle that you have to adjust to and learn to fit it all in.. it takes some getting used to and I am still working on it. I work from 6 am to 2:30 pm Monday thru Friday, so my workouts are usually in the afternoon, and my runs are usually in the evening in the summer when it's scorching outside. I get up at 4:15 as it is to get ready for work, so getting up any earlier for morning workouts is out of the question for me.

My kids are getting used to me working out regularly again, too... so that helps. My husband has recently started working out as well, so we try to work out at around the same time every day so that we aren't both taking too much time away from each other or the kids. Luckily, my kids are getting older(16, 13, and 11), and can fend for themselves while we are working out. They aren't toddlers who need to be watched every second.

Hi Pam, this time around since I had a smoked turkey wing that was already cut-up I threw some of it with some onions in the crockpot and boy does it taste good. I put a "little" Lawry seasoning salt and pepper.

Also yes, what I ususallycook on Sunday lasts until at least Friday maybe Saturday. But if it only last until Friday that is OK because the batch cooking is suppose to help me with time management during the week.

Thanks for sharing, Charlene! I'm definitely going to steal some of your batch cooking ideas. Do you season your beans with anything?

Kat, I do batch cook for breakfast. I make a pot of steel-cut oats porridge on the stove and then put it all in the fridge to eat from for several days. It even freezes well in individual portions. I like my oats warmed with nut butter stirred in it. My other batch-cooking idea for breakfast (or snacks) is stewed rhubarb. I like it with vanilla yogurt. I keep a batch of this in the fridge, too. It also freezes well.

Hi Kat,

My goal is to build muscle for the next two months prior to leaning down for a figure competition this fall.

Today, all within a two hour period - but practice make perfect.

1. Put 1/2 bag of red beans in crockpot - low for 12 hours - will cook over night. Will eat red beans and rice this week.

1a. Place dice up turkey wing in large pot with water to boil - will use when tender with frozen greens

2. Sliced partial frozen chicken - seasoned and placed on grill - 5 pounds

3. While chicken cooking - keeping an eye on grill - placed pot of water on stove to boil for wheat spaghetti

4. Placed five 4oz portions of salmon in non-stick pan. Diced up green, yellow peppers, tomato and onions. Placed all on top of salmon/wrapped - placed in oven - 400 degrees for 30 minutes

5. Cooked pound 1/2 of ground turkey with onions and seasoning

6. A couple of times I have checked on the chicken, turning sides

7. Turkey and spaghetti is done - mix together with Spaghetti sauce and let simmer for a while

8. Take chicken off of grill, place in stackable plastic container and place in refig. (have 5 pound of chicken breast for various meals - quick stir-fy, salads, quick snack or for meals

9. Place two cups of brown rice on stove to eat with red beans.

10. Make turkey sausage for breakfast - turkey, unseasoned apple sauce, red peppers and onions - place on grill - make 6 patties

11. Place 5 eggs on stove for tuna salad

12. Take salmon out of oven - place in stackable plastic container

13. Spaghetti is done simmering - dive into 5 small plastic containers - need it to be equal

14. Turn turkey patties

15. Brown rice is done - season and place in stackable plastic container - place in refrig.

16. Turkey patties are done - place them in stackable plastic container

17. Open frozen greens - collard, turnip and mustard greens and place in pot with turkey pieces and onions - cook for 30 minutes

18. Clean asparagus and place two bunches in steamer for 10 minutes

19. Wash dishes - mostly pots

20. Open five cans of tuna - rinse - dice eggs and onions - mix with Omega mayonnaise - put in plastic container for refig.

21. Placed cooked greens in plastic container for refrig.

For the week, I have turkey sausages, chicken breast, salmon, tuna salad, red beans and brown rice, spaghetti, aspagerus, and greens. Plus I have in my refrig, fresh spinach, mixed lettuce, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and cottage cheese

All of this took me little over two hours. Unlike SUNNYGRRL86, I do not portion anything until I make my lunch or I eat dinner. Also I do not do breakfast. I usually have oatmeal or cream of rice in the morning w/egg whites and I usually cook that in the microwave.

Usually what I cook on Sunday will last me until Saturday.

FLKAT777, I've been batch cooking since 2003, with some months in between when I got burned out! :P I'll decide on Thursday, ideally, all the meals I want to cook for bfast, lunch, and dinner and create the grocery list. I'll shop either on Friday after work or Saturday morning, and set aside 4-6 hours (I'm a slow cook) on Sat or Sun, whichever is more convenient. I just go for it and cook one meal after another, including breakfast, if it's a meal I can refrigerate. I have a bunch of different sized tupperware containers and as soon as I cook my meal, I portion it out into the containers and refrigerate them. This can be tiring, but it's worth it, because during the week I don't have to do anything more than wash tupperware containers, and then I can focus on working out and other things, instead of cooking.

I hope this helped!

Thanks for your comments, ladies. My diet has been very good, so I assumed I had to kick-up my exercise to loose my love handles. Fixing my diet further is going to be tricky, but I'll give it a shot. Thank you.

Bikini moms can work out as often as they want but it all comes down to nutrition really like what Discdob said and planning like what Marvelous said! I work out early in the morning and try to make sure I get both ST and cardio in. You need to try to eat clean if you want that great bikini bod! When my sodium is very high it causes terrible bloat so keeping that in tact and eating clean really helps me feel lean and trim in my bikini! If I have way too much processed snack and junk food it just doesn't do wonders for my body. I try to push the protein and keep my portions under control. I have a darn sweet tooth so sometimes I get out of control but I usually have an easy time getting right back on track. When I eat terrible, my body punishes me and I just feel gross and miserable.

Pam, I think it's going to be a matter of personal preference and what works for YOU. Try it out and see if if suits your needs. As others have said, planning is everything! It really does make it so much easier. And just the fact that you are motivated enough to want to do the best you can is half the battle so congrats on that! emoticon

Charlene... I would love to hear your ideas on batch cooking! I feel like I'm in the kitchen all the time and I KNOW there has to be a more efficient way to utilize my time (and have a cleaner kitchen, LOL). Would you mind sharing some of your ideas?

Thanks!

I am 41, work 40-plus hours a week, and have a 14-y/o and and 2-y/o. Except for my breasts (let's just not talk about them!) I have a bikini bod, I think.

I do not exercise 2 hours a day, twice a day. My daily runs last 40-60 minutes, depending. Strength is about 25-30 minutes, 3-4 times a week. My daughter comes for runs in the baby jogger (she's getting heavy!!!) and she loves the socialization at the gym's kiddie room.

It's all about the food. If I didn't eat well, it wouldn't matter if I exercised 5 hours a day.

Sally, thanks for sharing. My own bedtime is a big issue, too. I've been working on a new weekday schedule. It has me getting up at 5 and in bed at 11 pm. That's 6 hours sleep -- if I fall asleep right away -- and my goal is 8.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I work 10 hour days, 2 kids, a hubby, pets, goats and 10 acres to help care for. Sometimes when I get a "breather", I dont take the better choice.

For example, my HUGE struggle I have right now is bedtime. I know that getting to bed earlier would help me meet my goals, but by the time I get home -745pm...I have to make dinner and do all the "mom stuff". Put the kids to bed (which is another struggle I'm working on- they share a bedroom RIGHT next to the living room and when they hear Dad watching t.v. it's a distraction...yada yada..). By this time it's 930 pm. My hubby leaves for work at 10pm, so I want to visit with him, he leaves, I exercise, get on the computer(probably should cut this out , but it's my ME time) and catch up on stuff.
BAM, it's midnight. I'm exhausted every morning.

Soooooooo... Iguess I say this because I really relate! lol or maybe I'm venting..heehee

Anyway, my new goal is to try to get to bed by 930 so I can get up a little earlier and get the exercise out of the way. I'm not a morning person, so I'm not looking forward to it..lol But, I'm sick of being 15 lbs overweight.

I make poor decisions food wise when I'm tired, so I need to make that a priority.

Good luck!
Sally

Charlene, many congrats on all you have achieved. Thanks for your ideas on packaging meals. My kids are not quite to the age where they are alone in their rooms ALL THE TIME yet, so while they are asking to be with me I want to take advantage.

Anyhow, I have three kids, run my own daycare, and exercise at least two times a day! Believe it or not, it keeps me sane! emoticon

There are a lot of moms on Body, Building, Fitness and Figure for Women team, who seems to be doing the impossible, just like you and they have bikini bodies

For me it is all about planning. I do batch cooking on Sunday and do not deviate. My batch cooking usually takes two hours out of my day. I am one of the lucky ones, because my teenager cooks for herself and usually does not eat what I eat. Also she is in that stage where she hangs-out in her room "ALL THE TIME."

As for working out. I work a 8:00 - 5:00 job. When I was training, I had to do double cardio, am and pm. I just got up at 5:00 and went to the gym before work. Then after work, I would go to the gym and complete my ST and additional cardio.

Also, congrats on the 50 pound weight loss. You look great.

Charlene

Every evening I would take out my plastic containers, and make all package all of my meals for the next day.

This works great for me.

LOL! Well, I wouldn't say I have a BIKINI BODY, but I have lost 50 poiunds. The only time I can find to fit in my 1 1/2 - 2 hour workouts is at 5:45 AM. I get up at that time everyday, so as to be out the door by 8:30 to drop kiddie of at school.
Although, I do work at home so that definitely makes things easier. But, I have to be even stricter with my schedule, otherwise i end up SPARKING all day!
Oops! Gotta go! LOL!
