That is really cool. More channels should do the same thing, but for adults too.

It's not the first time they do that, so maybe it was accepted by lots of people. They even did it with their sister channel Noggin, it went off the air about 12 noon and came back on at 3pm, at least what my guide said. Yeah my son looked at me and pulled me to the remote because it went off while he was watching. Noggin at least has a moose and bird that kept talking as if kids were watchin, " What are you doing there? Go out and Play." and then it explained how it was a go out and play day. It was neat. We went swimming.

That is cool. I wonder if they got complaints though?

I did not notice we were at a birthday pool party. I am glad to see they did that though.

Didn't notice as we were out, too. It is sad to admit, but mostly my kids watch tv during the week when we are rushed and I need a couple minutes to shower and get ready for work. Weekends are much more relaxed and we do the fun stuff we have been wanting to do all week!

Nick teamed up with the American Heart Association. Since Saturday was the National Day of Play they agreed to run a black screen with the words "Go Out and Play" (or something like that) across the bottom. I didn't check it out, but our AHA leison for school told us about it before hand so we could promote it.

Trying to get back on track after the worst year that I can remember.

We don't watch TV at all (only dvds), but when I heard the story about Nickolodeon on NPR during my workout, I almost cheered out loud! Woohooo for them - hope many more follow suit.

I am proud to say that my 2 almost 3 year old played at "his" tree most of the day Saturday and Sunday. He was so messy. lol

I did notice it. I kept the kids outside until about 4 but then lost them to the computer...but not the TV!!! I was also proud of TV Land which did a Family Dinner thing last Monday. It was very cool!! I am lucky enough to have a family dinner most nights but it's nice to see a media outlet promoting it for those who don't!

Did anyone notice that this weekend was Nickelodeon's national kids go play day? The entire network shut down for a day and didn't show programs. It was to encourage kids and adults to go outside and play. I say "Way to Go Nick!!" My kids were all too happy to go outside. We went looking for Halloween costumes and went to the park most of the day. We do these things regularly, it was just a good reason to get out. Anyone else notice?
