Found out what your school district and/or community offers. Although my children do plays on sports teams they also have other interest. My daughter loves dance, karate and girl scouts. My son enjoys karate and boy scouts. Both also are on the chess team at school. Our school district offers theater as well but it fills up so fast that neither of my kids ever get in. Our community also offers different art programs from computer art to painting, pottery aimed at all ages which my children want to do as well. Unfortunately we can't afford it. They would have to give up at one if not two other activities and right now they are not willing to do so. I have friends that bring their children to local music lessons. Two play guitar and one the piano. Again out of our league if they want to continue with all these other activities!
I feel any of these activities are great for anyone including kids. Not everybody wants to play a sport. And if your 14 yo is not involved in any activity then even the little more pricey activities would be worth it because it will be just one.
You might be thinking only pf physical activities but believe me a lot of physical activities go on in the scouts that don't seem like it IE: "rock climbing" and gardening. And once they make friends even at art class the "play dates" (not sure if it is called that at 14yo) are usually very active, like bowling or ice skating, bike riding, skate boarding, swimming just to name a few. And yes it keeps them off the couch & from playing video games or watching TV.
Come to think of it there is a program by us that offers, horse back riding and another program that involves kids in farming. Working with animals.
If you 14yo is open to suggestions then jump on the internet and see what your district or community offers.
Best of luck!
