My 6 year old daughter has actually be listening and taking my lead on healthier eating.
She told me she pretty much only chooses the salad option at school most days. I was so proud when she told me that. Of course I'm not too surprised really. She loves her veggies ESPECIALLY broccoli. At 2 she shocked the server at Outback one night when she ate the entire salad plate FULL broccoli she was eating. The lady's mouth practically hit the floor. She's one of the more rare kids that eats their veggies first. Lol It shows she has had a couple ear infections but otherwise nothing but the minor allergies or colds 1-2 times a year at most despite being subjected to strep throat numerous times and even the flu including exposure to H1N1 flu.
And she is growing very interested about where her food comes from. When we eat meat lately she has been asking which animal it came from. Then used her own Easter gift money to buy a planter and soil to plant cucumbers. That stems because I want to get back to vegetarian and then all the way to vegan and have been reading about it a lot.
I'm avoiding meat more so because of a scare from my last blood work up. I'd have mildly elevated triglycerides on my cholesterol but the total was fine. This time it sounds like the HDL is low and LDL is higher than they'd like. I haven't see the numbers nor discussed it with my Dr. She did not really ask for an appointment to talk about it. I got to go this month for my BP pill refill which I hope to come off for good this year. I've been reading up on the nutrition and macrobiotics to learn how to flop those numbers.
