I don't think I saw them anywhere listed yet....
Just about anything by them is nice and funky enough to work out to.
Mumford and Sons
Tegan and Sarah
the Flaming Lips
Noah and the Whale
If you need more, I can give you more. ;D
I hate having a standard playlist of only a few songs... the music gets old too quickly. So I just have a huge one on shuffle. one for mellower activities, one to get me motivated, and one to just entertain me through the middle. Right now I have a lot of:
... and of course lots of one offs that I just keep hitting repeat on. :)
Blur- song # 2
Le Tigre- decepticon
Prince- lets go crazy
Prince- u got the look
Pulp -mile end
Tom Tom club- genius of love

And the entire girltalk "feed the animals album"
These bands are on my workout mix:
The Go! Team

Beach House (for the cooldown & meditation)

What a great list! I'm really into Metric and Stars right now. Tegan And Sara's got some great ones too.
I'm a huge fan of The Flaming Lips. Some of the songs I like to work out to by the Lips are:
Race For the Prize
It Overtakes Me
Yeah Yeah Yeah Song
Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell
Only a small sample!
Not indie, but fun to add to your eclectic mix, if you have one like me. Jump in the Line by Harry Belafonte. If you don't know the song, you might remember it as the song at the end of Beatlejuice that the ghosts put on and let Lydia float around to after she gets a good grade. Plus the lyrics are motivating! "Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake your body line;
Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake it all the time;
Work, work, work, Senora, work your body line;
Work, work, work, Senora, work it all the time"
Hope I helped!

Yeah, some good songs/bands have been posted! I LOOOOOOOOOvvvvvvvvve Camera Obscura's Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken. One of my favourite songs. I saw them in concert a couple months ago -- they were awesome live!
Some new faves for working out to:
Shut Up and Let Me Go - The Ting Tings
Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
Countdown (Sick for the Big Sun) - Phoenix
I'm getting a lot of good ideas here:)
Here's what I like:
Sugarbaby & Jetsetter- Morningwood
Le Pastie de la Bourgeoisie- Belle & Sebastian
In the Aeroplane over the Sea- Neutral Milk Hotel
The Infanta- The Decemberists

Bright Yellow Gun- Throwing Muses
Knights of Cydonia- Muse
Maybe Tonight- Nicole Adkins
Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken- Camera Obscura
And pretty much anything by Delerium or the Postal Service:)
Florence + The Machine - Howl
I'm loving this song in general but I've found I move really fast when it's playing. Great beat. Some of her songs have periods where the tempo slows significantly but this one just keeps driving.
I tend to go for electro tracks on my ipod for working out, so I like a lot of the remixes of indie songs.
The Rapture - Whoo! Alright ...
Chromeo - Bonafied Loving
Chromeo - Fancy Footwork
CSS - Let's Make Love...
Calvin Harris - Disco Heat

Kudos to everyone listing MGMT! They're my favorite to work out to. I also listen to TV on the Radio, The Ting Tings, The Faint, The Knife, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Vampire Weekend to name a few.
But I must admit, when working out, I sometimes stray from indie and go for some electro-pop like Calvin Harris, (good) hip hop like N.E.R.D or even some Massive Attack.
I found Spark People by googling Indie Workout Music which landed me at this discussion board here... (so of course I had to sign-up, didn't I)! I was inspried to make myself a workout mixtape on iTunes today, w/ tracks including:
Mushaboom - Feist
Love is Hell - Ryan Adams

Huddle Formation - The Go! Team
Lisztomania - Phoenix (possibly THE best workout song ever)

A luvverly workout today.
'That Beep' by Architecture in Helsinki is SUCH a fun song!
i didn't read the whole thread so i'm not sure if someone already mentioned them or not but i'm totally loving natalie portman's shaved head. i love them at the gym and sometimes when i don't feel like going to the gym and it's raining outside, i'll put on their cd and just dance to the whole thing...it gets you about 45 minutes of a workout...seriously, so much fun!
So... I think this group is the best thing since sliced bread. Lucky me I was parousing the music area in hopes of maybe finding something good!
Lately I've been listening to alot of.....

Hey Jules, I love working out to Justice too:) Have you seen their video for Genesis? It is crazaayyy!
Totally seconding Junior Senior & Stellastarr*! The Chalets are great to work out too, very much in that line.
I have to say I like my French electrofunk duos when it comes to being up on the treadmill - I have taken to making Daft Punk/Justice playlists on Spotify and they get me through my 3 km like that.

The Mending of the Gown - Sunset Rubdown
Fighter Girl - Mason Jennings
Yucatan Gold - Throw Me The Statue
5 Years Time - Noah And The Whale
Oversleeping - I'm from Barcelona
Your mix looks good!
I'm into the idea of music sharing (duh I joined this group ), I tried to do a mix tape/cd trading thing in one of my other spark groups...didn't pan out so well, I sent out two cds and never heard a word of response about it and now neither of those people respond to my spark mail...I don't even care that they didn't reciprocate I just want to know what they thought of my mix, lol!
Putting the playlist up in the thread is cool too, but I just get a kick out of the idea of getting a mixtape in the mail, its like a little present. There are more people in this group so maybe it would work? Anybody interested or should we just keep it to the internets?
We should get some sort of workout song exchange going, I'm always looking for new stuff...
I just did a quick run through of some of my favorite indie songs on itunes:
Apples in Stereo-Tidal Wave
Artic Monkeys-I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor

The Moldy Peaches-Steak For Chicken
Desaparecidos-Mall of America
Park Ave.- It's a Life

Shiny toy guns- le disko
The smiths- heaven knows i'm miserable now
(LOVE the smiths for working out)

Violent Femmes- Kiss Off
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Date With The Night
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Y Control
The Zombies- Early in the Morning
(Not so much indie as it is super awesome classic rock, but it gets me going and I bet you would like it too.)

I love Stellastarr* to work out-- some of their stuff is really slow, but the upbeat ones are fantastic. I love that band:)
All things Modest Mouse...get on the treadmill and just go.
I like to throw in a little Goldfrapp into my workout mix. Mostly anything from "Black Cherry" or "Supernature" would work.
I'll second that. The Rapture + Junior Senior are totally upbeat and great for any workout play-list.
Hi there! I'm new to SparkPeople and thought I would join some teams and maybe find a thread I liked!
As for indie music, I listen to a lot of podcasts while I am working out. After trying out Podrunner and some others and finding them very lame, I started listening to a non-workout podcast for my jogs. It is called GaragePunk.com and it is seriously amazing and fun, especially the episodes called "Get Drunk and Play Records."
I also really love the Dallas Does Indie podcast, although it isn't as fun for workouts as GaragePunk.
Lot's of great suggestions on here! I also love woking out to Muse, Interpol, and MGMT. Right now I have been working out to CSS and the Kooks. They give me energy when I want to quit:)
I don't know if MUSE is considered Indie...there should be a new category...EPIC alternative rock. Coz that is them. Anyway. I love working out to anything by MUSE.
I also love Interpol, White Stripes, Shins, Raconteurs, Radiohead, Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Gorillaz, Blur, Stereophonics, Ting Tings, old stuff too Smiths, New Order, Cure etc...
Oh, and I dare they these would be more alt rock but I love Foo Fighters and Nirvana. Great for running.

"Never say trapped. Just...incoveniently circumstanced."
I'm not sure if they're actually indie (but they're definatley indie in spirit) anything by the Rapture or Jr. Sr.
Just a fun fact- I lost my first 40 lbs by grooving to a Mindless Self Indulgence album.
Too much fun
"Here we go again" -Ok Go
I've been working out to "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John lately.
