I always lack self confidence when it comes to the way I look. They say that beauty is on the inside but yet that's not the case at all. People are always gonna judge you by the way you look and when they point things out about me that I already know is true or feel bad about, it hurts a lot. Some days I look in the mirror and think I do look good. But then there are the days where I just wish I was skinnier or prettier and want to be someone else.

I give different meaning to the words fat and beauty. I don't always feel ugly when I feel fat cuz a lot of the time I think of ugliness and beauty as more how I *feel* than how I perceive my own appearance. Does that make sense? So if people tell me I'm not fat it will likely have zero impact on my self-image. But if people tell me I'm beautiful it does.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

Drives me nuts! If I feel fat or I feel ugly...someone telling me otherwise itsn't going to change it. It's nice to hear from some people...but until you realize it for yourself how you REALLY look, then what anyone else says doesn't matter.

You can be the hottest thing on the planet and it wouldn't matter if you didn't FEEL like it about yourself. Likewise, you can be incredibly unattractive, but if you FEEl beautiful, then THAT's what matters. How you see yourself.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2 Cor 5:17

No, you did. I feel like my opinion is the only one that matters too, so if I think I'm fat then it doesn't matter if my friends say, "Well I have the same amount of fat. Do you think I'm fat?" It doesn't make my self-image any better. In fact, it makes me feel more screwed up for having my self-images issues pointed out. Maybe I'm just PMS'ing and am being oversensitive.

How do you mean? My 1st thought was, "well, if they tell me I'm not AS fat as Momma Cass Elliot...NO!" But, if they say, "you're silly, you're not fat!" It really doesn't matter, it's my opion that matters. Did I totally NOT get what you are asking?

Does it help you with your self-esteem when friends put your self-image issues in perspective?
