I would not try a total turmeric mask unless you have med to dark skin, it will stain and you will turn yellow for awhile. On the one hand though it is great for acneic skin and is very antimicrobial. I have bought turmeric root and juiced it before during a cleanse. I use it alot but prefer to just use my curry powder which it is in already.

I think maybe for color, but not so much for flavor, but I could be wrong.

Is tumeric really a substitute for saffron?

Tumeric(saffron) is widely used in Indian culture.
As a mask it's used to even skin tone, shrink pores and fade marks.Don't apply pure tumeric to your face...it will stain.
Make a mask instead with 1" grated saffron, 1 tbsp yogurt , 1 tsp honey. Rinse with warm water. Indian brides use this.
I don't use masks. Instead i use saffron tea for its cleasing properties.
Grate 1" saffron and boil in 8oz water, let seap 5mins, add milk and sweetener to taste.I drink this for 1wk, usually after my period...makes my skin all glowy.

Ummmm.....haven't but it makes sense. I have put turmeric on moles, because it is supposed to shrink melanoma cells. I would kind of worry about staining my skin. Maybe, try it on your hand 1st!

okay, I have a malay friend who has an indian grandmother, and apparently indian swear by turmeric masks. then cleaning it off with yoghurt so the coloring doesn't stick.

has anyone ever tried this? I'm a little paranoid to try this.

I've used aloe very gel, jojoba oil, yoghurt masks, cucumber juice masks, etc.

Just not THIS.

I would love some extra input on this one.

thanx.
