I Am whole and healthy. Brian Tracy calls this Telling the Truth in Advance. "I AM" statements activate the subconscious and it strives to meet the reality that we create in our minds and by our statements.

I so agree....

I have come to learn that for me to be healthy I need to maintain balance in all areas of my life...

SPIRITUALly * EMOTIONALly * MENTALly * PHYSICALly

Where I am now on this journey to a HEALthy SELF

it is even clearer to me that I need to give each area of myself ample nourishment...

Whats been working for me is...

for my
SPIRIT - Prayer / meditation 24/7 along with taking some time to REALly Consciously pray and meditate.

for my
EMOTIONS - Honoring my feelings and then dealing with them... taking the time to respect my own feelings and honor my own process

for my
MIND - Paying close attention to my thoughts and choosing carefully which thoughts to put my energy into...

for my
BODY - Using Spark people to keep track and keep myself on target with my goals...
eating *exercising *sleeping

and of course the online friends are aiding me with all of the above... and I am sooooo grateful for that..

We all have to find the path that is right for us. I go to the gym early in the morning, before breakfast and row for 40 minutes and then come home and eat. On the weekends, I row for an hour and a quarter before eating. I have read from several sources that this requires your body to burn fat and all of the stored glycogen is used up during the night and fat is the only source of energy available. I row moderately, which is supposed to be optimum for my body and endocrine type. I drink a cup of coffee on my way to the gym as this enhances fat burning and helps with muscle recovery too, according to Dr. Mirkin, the original sports medicine doctor from the 60's who is still competing today in his 80's. You can read his blog at DrMirkin.com.

What a great read always happy to read your stuff Chanetc. I am naturally progressing along these lines as well there are so many things our body's need to maintain to be healthy the mind boggles. I guess you awaken to it when the timing is right. Still 77kg down from 82 but at least I am not gaining so things are looking good I realized I am not like everyone else if I eat breakfast I gain weight so I eat exactly the same but don't eat until 10.30 or 12.00 I know this is not how you are supposed to do it but boy does it work for me my body does not burn calories while sleeping but it does during the day. See some of us are a little different I never did like breakfast even as a child. I don't miss it at all and I still have energy. From my meal I had the night before. Weird but thats good for me took ages to work out but I took my memory back to the time I was my healthiest which was when I was 23 I thought of how much energy i had and how good I felt and what did I eat and I ate much as you described like our anscestors millions of years ago. I feel great. Not recommending others should try it just works for me. Glad to read people are making progress. Stay happy.

It looks like you are taking steps in the right direction. It is important to make permanent lifestyle changes that you can live with as these will improve the quality of life in every area and will give you a much longer range perspective on achieving all of your life's goals.

I have been eating healthy foods like salmon, nuts, veggies etc. Also been doing exercises to help lose a few pounds, been drinking more water to stay hydrated and I try to get some quiet time in for meditating which helps relax me.

The first goal is to become healthy and only after that is achieved will we find our own personal healthy weight. You have moved away from negative food to positive food, now you have the task of finding which way of eating is healthiest for you. That is a journey that you can be advised on, but you have to make on your own. It is unique for each of us.

"All of these years of "healthy carbs" only feed my addiction to carbs." Well I definately CANT say that. lol I used to crave junk food; pasteries, pies, turn overs, sandwiches, breads...etc. Since switching to getting my carbs from corn, carrots, potatoes, nuts and ONLY whole grains...I dont have those CAKE cravings at all anymore. At least untill I eat it again. ROFL.

I have gained 20 pounds by adding more protiens. My hardest part of this experiment is that I cant seem to add enough veggies...or the right kinds.

Carollynn007-I can related to your journey. I have eaten whole grains for almost half of a century and in the last two years focused on eating only whole grains, beans, and fish for protein. I rowed over 5 million meters and still my weight was stuck at a plateau. All of these years of "healthy carbs" only feed my addiction to carbs. When I found the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and the research behind it, I felt liberated. I no longer eat whole grains of any kind as a regular part of my diet and have learned to enjoy low carb vegetables, protein from wild caught seafood, some chicken, pork and beef, but primarily seafood: salmon, shrimp, sardines, mackerel, and anchovies (all in olive oil, when canned). I have come to really love the cole family of cruciferous vegetables: cabbages of all colors, cauliflower, broccoli, and broccoli-flower. I also am really enjoying celery, cucumbers, and radishes. I eat red bell pepper, red onions, and a small amount of shredded carrots for color and texture. I suggest using the incremental approach of The 7-Day Low-Carb Rescue and Recovery Plan, where you gradually add foods before you take things away, and make a comfortable and self-timed transition. I have only heard great things about Rachael Heller's cookbooks, so you might look to these for inspiration to help you adjust to this "new" and healthier way of eating, which is actually closer to the way our ancestors ate for millions of years until 10,000 years ago and the way our bodies are adapted to ingesting food.

Thanks for the luck.
I spent about 2 years getting myself into eating wild brown rice, whole grain high fiber carbs, carbs in the form of carrots, cauliflower, baked beans and the like and staying away from too much breads or other forms of carbs. I rarely EVER eat white flour anything or starchy stuff because I did so much study with glycemic indexing and KNOW Im glucose sensitive. Frankly Im having a hard time sticking to the veggatable lists that have NO CARBS and eating that much protein.
But I am not that far into the whole thing yet so Im sure I will be fine once I can branch out more.

I find that the presence of MSG in food makes me stop losing or even gain a few pounds. MSG is found naturally in all soy products: tofu, soy sauce, soy beans, and all of the sauces and foods that contain soy. I love all oriental food, but now I no longer have soy sauce at home and when I eat sushi, I use lemon and salt and a littel wasabi for the dipping sauce and, of course, I leave the rice on the plate and only eat the fish. It take a while to really master the eating program and make it a habit, but it is the best that I have ever found. Good luck!

Yep yep an experiment of ONE, me. lol or YOU. We got to stick ourselves out there and TRY TRY TRY. Cant get discouraged when things dont work, simply track and record, scientific method of research and keep trying.
I have been reading the Carbhydrate addicts diet, and lifespan program, and Healthy heart program, and 7 day recovery plan. Its the easiest method of dealing with Carb Cravings Ive ever used. I have yet to see weight loss results, but its promising.

When we set goals, such as health it is not a one dimensional path that we travel. There are son many intertwined factors. We need a healthy diet, this is different for each person, one has to find it. There is no one size fits all. The food choices we make affect us both physically and mentally. We need healthy exercise, again this is unique to each person. What do you like to do, what can you do, what is good for you to do. etc. Like the food choices we make, exercise affects both our body and out mind. Our thoughts, whether they are positive or negative can affect our outcomes and our physical and mental health health. We are spirit beings, but the state of our health can affect us spiritually, it can enhance our spiritual experience, distort it, or diminish it.

My path is to find a way that balances all of these approaches, so that they aid mutual growth. One cannot neglect one area to only focus on another. There are not short cuts. We must vividly imagine our goals and take the appropriate actions to achieve them. We learn by trial an error. We start, we fail, we learn, and we start again, but wiser. We need to educate ourselves on what is best for us and then we will have the tools for Making Life Happen on Purpose.
