The first time that I rowed, I could only do three minutes and I was beat. Then I decided to go to the Concept2.com site and read about how to do it and it was so much easier. It is one of the few cardio exercises that actually helps you build muscle and it exercises every muscle in your body. You can row every day or every other day at first. I would start easy, set the indicator on the fly wheel at "4" and watch your breathing. You inhale as you push off with your feet and exhale on the slower recovery stroke as you slide forward. Remember that it is primarily a leg exercise first, then back, and lastly your arms are for follow through. I love this exercise above all other cardio machines, but I only found out about it right after my 60th birthday. People can row into their 90's+ as it is easy on your joints and helps protect your bones from calcium loss.
I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have for the last 2 years. I have almost rowed 5,000,000 meters, less than 100,000 meters to go. This challenge will put me over the top!
