Hi there! Didn't mean to open anything up with the quote! I just love it and it is something I can read everyday and it really makes me think about life! There is another quote from Mother Teresa I put in my blog today. I love quotes that help to lift the spirit, motivate and inspire!!

It is better to let it out than keep it in. That is what causes illness dis ease. Thanks Chanetc you are a great team leader. Something really special went on here today. I am glad there are such wonderful people in this world.

Thank you all for sharing. This is a difficult topic and an uncomfortable one. I'm glad that we have developed a closeness to be able to trust one another.

Please can we please drop the subject I should have never opended up. Being severally depressed is horrible, really hard for you to deal with, but it is not the same as being bi-polar. So many people think they know what we live with day to day, even my husband but you really can't unless you have walked in my path. I have been mentaly abused, raped, laughed at behind my back, an overdose of meds. and do not dwell on any of that. It is in the past and I can not change any of it. It is just a part of me that no lonnger exist.
Please, I am thankful for all you given unto me, It is accepted in the good will it was offered. I love you all for your replies. Maybe today will be my first day of out this depression. There is always hope and sun in the future.

Mycoza it was wonderful for you to share your story and to here of your success overcoming your illness. I am so proud of my mother today. She doesn't take any medication and has not had any relapses since she was 45 she is 78 today and enjoying her life. She studies at uni and has many interests and many friends. When she was ill it was a different story. Her true friends stood by her. The people who didn't well they are missing the wonderful person she has become. Our family all stood by her. Though it was difficult. Especially in those days when mental illness wasn't as out in the open as it is today. I guess what that did for me as a child was taught me compassion. I am 45 now. Those days are long behind me. As that how it is. If you leave it in the past it stays there. You can be reminded of it as life goes by you just learn more things. I am glad Crotty voiced how she felt as it is a very difficult thing to work through.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate." Is from Marianne Williamson. Nelson Mandela is credited for it a lot because he used it in a speech. Thanks for posting this, I just sent it to my daughter last night. I think I needed to hear it also. When coincidences happen, I like to think that my Higher Power is trying to tell me something.

I've been in the process of letting go of my 'victim' stories and other stories that no longer serve my highest good. So this is a wonderful thread for me to read.

Chanetec, what a compassionate insight. I like the B.T. Washington quote also.

There is another quote that has been coming up for me lately that I like from Howard Thurman (I'm pretty sure he's Uma Thurman's dad): "Don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that because the world needs more people who come alive."

Crotty, years ago I saw Former Miss America Marilyn Van Derbur speak at a college campus about her struggle to heal from incest. She said that she discovered that when she reacted strongly to a comment or suggestion it was usually something that required her to do her work. That it touched a nerve that she was trying to avoid.

12 years ago I was so severly depressed that I had to go on disability. 5 years ago I was on Depakote, trileptal, and a couple other meds. Today I take vitamins and mineral suppliments. Bi Polar is an illness that you can outgrow. For me the process started by simply writing out a 5 item gratitude list every night before I went to bed. Yes it is a genetic, physical disease, that is were I rec'vd my propensity for it, but our habits of thoughts/beliefs tend to have a greater impact than we understand. Read "Molecules of Emotion" by Dr. Candace Pert.

I liked what Chanetc wrote. Crotty it is great to know you will be happy again in a few days but you can choose to be happy now if you want. I am sorry you didn't like what I typed before. Just know that I do feel for you and I am not excactly in your shoes and I don't know what it is like for you. It sure sounds bad. I just don't want you to stay in that bad place thats all. You sound like you have been struggling with illness for a while. My mother has been medicated all her life I lived with her all my teenage life it was not always great, she now is the happiest person I know. She overcame her illness. It did impact me when I was young as what I witnessed was not a lot of fun. I do know that people can live better lives when the learn to overcome there situation. I wish the best for you even though I don't know you. Good luck.

"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome."
-- Booker T. Washington, Educator

It has been said the reason that some people seem to have an unfair burden in this life is that their souls are so beautiful, so generous, and so powerful that they agreed to take on these burdens before they were born to save some of the rest of us, whose souls are not yet mature or strong enough from having to shoulder the burden.

St. Paul wrote that suffering was a blessing that brought him closer to Christ, the Greatest Soul of all. Christ took on the burden of the sins of us all and since He was also a human, He felt every sting of the whip, every needle of the crown of thorns, every step of the weight of the cross, every nail driven into his hands, and the pain, shame, and loneliness of hanging on the Cross like a common murderer or thief. His suffering has been an inspiration to others for over two thousand years. No one who does not share your personal burdens can know the weight that they bear upon your soul. We can only express gratitude that you are our friend and that we have the honor of knowing you, if only a little bit.

Thank you for your post but a lot of what you said is way off base. I get depressed becaause it runs through my body and even the meds don't always help. My mother wanted to control all of us, she spent her life putting us down. I never heard a compliment
from her.
There are no solutions except for the meds I take. I realize we can never understand anothers pain until we walk in their shoes. Right now I have 3 doctors who tell me there is something else wrong but they just don't know what it is. yes I am severly depressed, in many days I will be happy again.
If I had given up, I would have been gone a long time ago. I fight each day to make myself and others understand.

Well at least you know what you have had dealt out to you. You know what you are a victim of. Now its all about change dear Crotty and God did create you in his image. You just have to know that. I could get depressed if I thought about all the things that have happened to me. My father died when I was 17 I will never see him again. My mother is overbearing but aren't they all. Your mum is probably dominating as she loves you very much. You might just have to speak up, my kids tell me, it hurts sometimes to tell someone the truth. But Parents do need to give there childeren space to grow and experience life for themselves there are always solutions to life problems. You just have to look for them. Maybe this is you first step joining this spark people. You are never alone dear crotty this is a big world. You just have to get brave and find people who do care for you. When your attitude changes doors will open. Don't give up Crotty. Be Brave. Nice to meet you.

TRY BEING BORN BIPOLAR-DEPRESSIVE, with a dominating mother, a father who was not allowed to see us.I will spare you the rest.
No I don't feel smart, worthy, happy, or gorgeous. I feel lonely, like an outsider, unloved, unwanted. And yes GOD also created me.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates other.

(Not sure who said this originally, but from the movie Coach Carter. When I heard it, I use it for inspiration & motivation. Thought it might help others!)
