I have found that coming up with a mantra to help me embrace a situation I am resisting can move me forward by leaps and bounds. I am not a person that is usually resistant to change, but on occasion - a mantra can be priceless when I hit a block.
I was recently going to visit my brother and his long-time girlfriend. I do not appreciate her to put it gently. So as I'm heading to this visit I tell myself I need to come up with a mantra that will help me open my mind to her experience in the world so that I can be nice to her and respect my brother's choices. Or at least just get through dinner without wanting to throttle her. So finally - as we're in the car I say to my husband "I've got my mantra!" and I start repeating to aloud "It can't be easy to date my brother. It can't be easy to date my brother..." Thinking to myself that this girl's experience in dating my brother can't be pleasant all the time - my brother can be very set in his ways and 'my way or the highway' sometimes.
So my Husband starts laughing his ass off and says to me "Honey, I do not think that sounds the way you think it sounds." And then I realize that I'm sitting in a car next to my husband and chanting about dating my brother. It sounded so wrong! I laughed until I cried and it was just the levity I needed to relax the tension I had going into the visit with her.
A mantra is lovely - but just remember - not all of them are meant to be said aloud.

Change is the only constant!
It is strange that we fear change so greatly when it is happening all around us all the time.
We like the familiar and surround ourselves with routines like a cocoon against change.
As you say Anita we should embrace change and allow ourselves to blossom.
Make one small change today. Take a different route to work. Choose a different type of coffee for your break. a small change today could lead on to bigger and greater things.
Sometimes change is forced on us and when it is we find that it is not as terrifying as we feared; just different!

That made me giggle Chanetc very good. My Grandmother told me the only animal that can't change its spots is a leopard. You are not a leopard so you can change as many times as you want. I have never forgotten her words. It has helped me get through life on many occasions. There is that little lizzard called the camileon he changes all the time. Maybe we should learn a few things from observing him. Smile. Thanks Everyone for all your wisdom and your advice. It is very special that you are sharing and much appreciated.
I read a quote recently that said that you can tell how old your are by how much change upsets you. As the Borg used to say on Startrek, "Resistance is futile!"

Considering change is all there is, we either learn to embrace it, or we let it get the best of us, so I say embrace it and make the best of it!

In most people's eyes change is something that should be resisted at all costs.
Why should you upset the current 'status quo'…when you know that whatever change is going to happen is going to involve effort, stress, and fear?
Successful people LOVE change. They love the fact that every time a change happens, it gives them a new opportunity to take advantage of…and another chance to be even more successful.
They know that EVERYTHING will change eventually, so they automatically look upon it as another challenge to their talents.
They know that it won't be easy…but instead focus on how they can benefit from it.
How can you change your views on change so that you can embrace it instead of resisting it?
It's easy to resent change…it always seems so unwelcome, doesn't it?
But, once you change your view and look at ways that you can use it to your advantage…a whole new world will open up to you.
