Great going Charles,
My main weight lifting excercise I get is from lifting pottery. The blocks of clay are in 5kg bags. Sometimes we lift 20 to thirty bags 2 to 3 times a week to and from various area's, as well as lifting boards of cups and mugs and whatever. Water wells and purifiers are the heaviest. When you are waxing and glazing you are always lifting them off and onto Shelves. When I am I am doing markets and unpacking boxes I always position the boxes so I am bending and standing great for a cardio workout. I walk up and down the hill to our workshop anything from 3 to 5 or more times a day. It is a steep hill I liken it to 3 flights of stairs. Most people would not enjoy having to do that I always think that I am getting exercise so it never bothers me. Its the added exercise I have trouble with like crunches and all the mid section exercises. I find them soooo boring and for some reason they never work for me. Maybe that's my answer I have to think they are exciting and what good they are doing. I have tried all sorts of them. Maybe I am not doing enough I now will work on that. I know I have to lesson my food intake. I am working on that. The filters that we have did you read The set ups you buy have have 2filters per unit. 22000ltrs. So 2 filters last if you were drinking 5 or 6 ltrs, a day 10 years. That is a huge saving if you are buying filters every 6mth to a year. You don't need any extra things as it is adsorption no bacteria stores in the filter. Self sterilizing. When the filter blocks you just use a scotch bright to clean. Really simply done. The filters we sell are for any water source Lakes streams dams. Anywhere were the water may be substandard. The sports bottles are excellent. 640 refills or 160 if the water is extremely unpleasant like water in bali or india. You just drop 2 drops of iodine in the bottle if you know the water is extremely viral. Great for camping trips and hiking. They don't allow any bacteria cysts or parasites through. They even raise the pH level in the water if you have extremely acidic water. I am not sure if the filter you have does all this. Herbicides and pesticides will not pass through either. It is really great when you really research the products. Peter and I have been and so far in Australia I haven't seen any thing close. Things are so much more advanced in the states though. I have not really looked at the one you mentioned does the bacteria store inside your filter. Nothing passes through ours only pure clean water. All the nasties cling to the outside like ball bearings to a magnet. I much prefer that. I only want to drink pure water. I will have to get my children to help me down load a picture of my puppy she is a real cutie. Well she is 3 now so she is not really a puppy any more but she still looks like a puppy. I love looking after her she brings me great joy and you know I realized that was one of my jobs in life if I didn't look after her who would, these little creatures could not possibly survive without human aid. Who would clip there wool. Take out the grass seeds she is so lucky to have me. So true the glass house thing. Wouldn't it be great if we had to live in them. That would really change the dynamics. I find it hard to talk about the world as it is so extreme. When you think you have it tough someone has it tougher. When you feel you have achieved greatness there is always some one greater. I am only happy with what I have now. Always grateful for the very next day when I wake up I say well I am lucky I am still experiencing what ever I have to. To day I witnessed a black bird eating a mouse, strange bird he has just moved onto my property. He even hangs his prey on a branch to pick at it I have never seen this before. I saw all this outside my kitchen window while I was doing the morning dishes.I will have to see what sort of bird he is at least I won't have a rodent problem with him around I hope he eats brown snakes too. Hope you have an excellent day. Where you going for your holiday sounds like it will be fun for you. Cheers.

Stephanie,
I've increased my exercise routine to include cross training with a stationery bike and my massage therapist wants me to add stair climbing and descending on my home stairway for 5 minutes to start and then add more time as it becomes easier. Two years ago, I injured my knee and could barely walk so rowing 10-16,000 meters a day, adding bicycling, and strength training is great progress, but I still have a ways to go to achieve my goal of being fit enough to ride and row on my new dream vacation next year.

We now used a compressed carbon and ultra-violet filter for our home drinking water. It is made by Quixtar/Amway and it is the highest rated filter on the market killing bacteria and viruses. We became distributors a few years ago and while we are not actively promoting the products, we use the health and skin care products ourselves and are very happy with them.

I watched the Olympic opening ceremonies last night and was amazed at the combination of technology and pure human energy and skill on such a giant scale. Truly impressive. China has come a long way--but it also has a long way to go...human rights, environmental protection, and ethical behavior, but so does the entire human race. As Krishnamurti once remarked about religion, "They are all equally distant from the truth." So it doesn't do to throw rocks and live an a glass house.

Good luck on all of your endeavors, professional and personal. It is a pleasure to get to know more about you. I want to see a picture of your Bishoodle some day. emoticon

Good Evening Charles,
I am saying that as it is 10.30pm here in Australia I am nearly ready to sleep as I have an early morning tomorrow marketing my wares. Smile. Interesting you now have made me realize I may have inhereted my abilities. I play piano not a mozart though. I learn't when I was young so if I put my mind to it because I can read music I could play what I choose. The rule though is practice, practice. Which I rarely do these day's I much prefer listening to my son he is so much more a natural early stages though he has also had a lovely friend who has taught him technique's and he has my Great grandfathers ear so I have been told as I never met him, he could play just by listening to a song he likes. He was an apothecary. He came out from England. I have two Son's 19 and 16.
Thankyou for the complement's for our pottery. Our Glazes do not contain any lead. We do Stoneware fired up to 1300 degree's. We also make Teapots coffee mugs Casserole dishes. I think we have done around 94 different items that are our design as well as the other things that people have wanted us to make over the years. My husband Peter has a great eye for his craft. He also has a really sound knowledge for glazes. He was very fortunate to have learn't from some really wonderful people. The first teachers he had were American. Well until we chat again. I hope you are working on your goals. I have been so motivated this week I have given up coffee. Green Tea for me. We import the filters from The U.S. New Millennium Concepts. If you were interested in the filters it would be much cheeper for you to by from them. They do not do the pottery water purifiers though. We are working on that. Seeya. Stephanie.

Stephanie,

I checked out your website. Your water amphoras are very interesting, functional, and beautiful. Imports have been a problem for many people. A friend has gone to China many times to find a manufacturer to produce his picture frames so that he can remain competitive. With all of the problems that China has had with lead paint and other toxic issues in manufacture, I would not buy anything related to "purification" from that country and perhaps that will continue to give you a quality and safety advantage.

My wife almost became a potter. She loved it in school and almost dropped out of pharmacy to become an artist. Her dean persuaded her that pharmacy would provide her a better future financially and she remained in the field. I was a painting and printmaking major in college. Interestingly, enough pharmacist and painters used to belong to the same guild, the apothecary guild, because of the mixing of pigments and medicine. We both have a love of art. My wife is very musical too. She has lovely voice and studied piano and taught it while in school. I became a furniture designer after college combining my industrial experience as a tool maker, aircraft assembler, and carpenter (which I worked at while I was in school) with my art training. I left design to become a teacher of my son in a Waldorf School in San Diego and I have been exploring other professions since he graduated. My son speaks 4 languages and lives in France. He just married a beautiful French woman and they are planning on returning to the US next year.

My past experience as an aircraft assembler and furniture maker give me the experience and skills to make my own boat for my next adventure, the building and trekking with my own amphibious boat and bike.

You both sound like you have quality lives together. My husband is a potter so I understand what you said about meeting your wife. We have both worked together for all the time we have been together in this industry. I am more the helper as it seems to work better that way. I also have an artist streak. I have the occasional flutter. Most of our time gets consumed with the pottery. The making of it and Markets and wholesale. We are now concentrating on water purification. Your welcome to look at our website. www.Kookaburrawaterconcepts.com.au. It will give you an idea of what we are into. Pottery has taught me a lot of skills. It is not an easy industry to be in. There are a lot of hobby potters, we are functional so it is a little different. We are not a huge pottery just cottage. My husband and I do all the work. We have gone into partnership with the web page I have shown you. A new venture, to help the pottery to survive. Not many of our kind at the moment in Australia. Some are training up in tafe so the new will come out eventually. It is an expensive industry to operate. We have been blessed to have been in the industry this long. You have to be very dedicated to be a potter. There is a lot of work involved. When you lift tonnes of clay. I liken it to that of a brick layer. Every thing is heavy. Especially the minerals. Now that there are a lot of imports in our country and a lot of work is factory, customers do not really appreciate that it is hand made. We have been perfecting our craft for all the time we have been together. My husband worked in a larger pottery before we met, as a decorator. He has decorated many many pots. He is now the complete potter. Although he does not dig his own he does know how. Today most of the clays are made and you buy it in a brick like block. It has been an interesting life and I have met interesting people because of it. The last few years have been difficult as the economy and all the other outside influences. That to me is another lesson in my life. The most important thing that this life of pottery has taught me is to stay centred. I have also found that challenging. Smile. I guess that is mine to master. A bit like staying in the present. Being Virgo/Libra is why you are attracted to your music and also where your artistic flair comes from. Also your planet your connected to is Venus the planet of love. You are a very lucky guy. Your wife is a very lucky woman. Smile Seeya.

Dear Stephanie,

I also married my soul mate. When I met my wife everyone in her family knew her by a nick name, but I loved her given name of Julieta and that is who she has always been to me. We met at my art gallery and I was smitten right away, but as I had other guest to take care of, I couldn’t devote any special time to her during the opening or the dinner part afterwards. Fortunately, she stayed in town after the opening and we met up later. We had a local astrologer do a reading for our combined charts and we are perfect compliments to each other. She is Pisces and I am a Virgo/Libra.

My wife is very youthful with perfect skin. We have been taking high quality vitamins and have practiced good nutrition for most of our lives. My wife is a pharmacist who researches health topics, and she recently read how vitamin C helps keep your skin young by keeping your collagen healthy. My hair has some fleck of grey. My former beard was growing white in the center with perfect symmetry, but I shaved it about 7 years ago when a friend who was slightly older died of a stroke and our beards were very similar. Looking into his coffin was a sobering experience. I prefer my much more youthful appearance now and won’t go back to growing a beard. I think that our society would be shocked if no one dyed their hair. There is one woman at our gym who had a very youthful face and body, but grey hair. She is very beautiful and would look younger if she did die her hair, but there is no need to. She looks great. I think that it is purely an individual decision based on a person’s wants and needs.

Faith and fear are both based on a belief that an unrealized event is inevitable. Neither has any reality in the present except for the reality that we give to it. Choose faith and you cannot experience the two simultaneously. Live your life as a reverse paranoid: everything that happens to you is for your highest and best interest.

Charles

Hi Charles,
Ooh I was writing before and I lost every thing now I am starting over. I visited your home page last night and I see you have been married for 29 years. Well done. I have been married for 20 years. A numerologist did our reading and supposedly we are the closest you can get to being soul mates earth and heaven. I can sure tell you that living with your soul mate for 20 years you sure get to learn a lot of stuff. Smile. I guess I did attract my partner as I always used my full name. Even before I found out about how it works. I have tried to be real as I can be. It is hard work to be real. Some people might not think so. But for me it is as I am still quiet young and I feel the world we live in is unreal. Smile I think that has a double meaning there. I am 45 I don't die my hair, people get quiet offended that I don't. Not that I am to greying. They seem to think I have a young face and should dye it. I explain well this is me, I am ok with it. What is really funny is it doesn't affect me, it affects the other person. I guess they don't like the reflection. I don't care if I dye my hair or not but I do feel more real if I don't. I think there is a lot to being real. I know I am over weight now I also know that when I get to the part of me that needs to go the rest will too. I just have to get to that part. I really think I am facing that stage of my life now. What ever may happen that's the part I do not know. I guess for me that's the scary part. Not knowing. At the same time it is really quite exciting. I guess living in the present which I do is the easiest thing to do and yet sometimes for me it is a challenge also. I am getting better at not being afraid. I have experienced a lot of things where you can be afraid in your life. I have got through all the events purely by having faith that I would. Some of the events I have had were to do with pain from illness I felt that I had felt the worst pain, silly thing to think as each of the events I experienced got worse and worse. I did however realize I had the strength inside to cope and thought wow I am quite a strong soul. So fortunately out of it came a good thing. Also I guess fear came in too as I was a little scared of what else I would experience in my life. I try not to go there very often. I think that could hold you back from all the good stuff. I am ready to experience that. Smile. If the universe permits it. Actually I have had a very balanced life I have experience a lot of good stuff too. P.S. Not to worry about leaving out the i in spell check I was just keeping my word about my name. Chill. Seeya Stephanie.

Stephanie, I'm sorry that I left out the "i" in your name. I misread it on my screen and actually added the "new" spelling to the SP spell check dictionary. According to Friedrich Rittelmeyer, a German author of the book, MEDITATION, a Guide to the Inner Life, we can influence our future incarnations through meditation in this one. Once we have learned the lessons from the challenges in our life, we no longer have to repeat them. But as Santayana, remarked, "Those who don't learn the lessons of history are condemned to repeat them." So it is possible to escape the wheel of Karma, it is not easy as it is there to help our Souls evolve. It is better to go through life as if everything that confronts us is put there for our spiritual benefit and our highest good. Be not afraid! emoticon

Reply from Stephanie. Just my reaction when you left the i out of my name. See it works. Smile. You have made me feel very guilty I have not been exercising lately and eating really crap food not that I want to its just what happening I am sure I will get back on track. You are truly an inspiration. Well I guess by using your real name you will attract the new person and you also will attract what you are really meant to in this life. I do know now, that I want things to be real in this life as I don't want to come back in another if there is one, and have to go over the crap I didn't experience in this one, also I don't want to miss out on all the good stuff either. Who know what's in store for Stephanie. Even if it is on the internet. What is ever meant to happen will. Can't be a Scardy Cat. Well that's what I keep telling myself I am probably the biggest scardy cat there is. But I will conquer it. Being a Scardy cat that is. Smile. Seeya.

Stephanie, Thank you for your wise advice. Everyone who is important to me knows me by Charles. It is interesting that when I have met people with my other identities, ultimately they are not compatible, because they did not really meet me, only the hologram that was projected by the altered name. As I have always been a bit skeptical about online networks, I have chosen not to use my real name, but a related aliases, but it has always derived from Charles. I am comfortable being Charles.

I have upped my performance goals by adding cross training on a stationery bike, floor core exercises, and increased strength training this week. My body had adapted to my usual routine, and now it is in for "shock and awe". Shock at the new intensity and awe at my new performance goals. We cannot control our "outcome goals" only our actions that will lead to those outcomes. Action is rewarded. emoticon emoticon

Hi there Charles,
Pleased to meet and greet you. You have had many name changes. You also have done many things under all of them. So I guess you understand a little of my thoughts from my post. I guess your name would affect many. I guess also it is quite a powerful name numerologically. Guess what we have got in common. There is a prince in this world called Charles and a princess called Stephanie. Notice how they don't change there names. Thats just came to me now. Not that it means anything to us just trivia. I enjoy all sorts of music. I met the manager of Russell Morris on the weekend.Russel Morris he wrote the song. The real thing. I do markets so every now and then an interesting person walks by. Use the name Charles for a while and insist on people calling you that. See what happens. Correct people if they call you anything other. You will notice certain reactions. It is very interesting. Have fun and keep your weight loss goal happening. Seeya.

I find it fascinating to follow this thread. According to the numerologist, your name has a certain destiny factor from your original naming. If you change your name, you affect this destiny factor for the better or worse. The first part of Chanetc comes from my given name, Charles. I was called Charlie by my grandfather, but Charles by everyone else through high school. When I was going to college, I worked in the evenings at Douglas Aircraft as an aircraft assembler and I put "Chuck" on my badge to create a less formal identity. I used to forget to take this off at school sometimes and I had a couple of friends who knew me by Chuck from college until fairly recently. One day they realized that no one else used that name and switched to calling me Charles like everyone else. When I first went online, my online name was "Chaz", another variation on my name, but rhyming with Jazz as I am a smooth jazz fan. When I joined SparkPeople, I chose to use Chanetc because it represented my highest aspirations according to my previous messages. emoticon

Really cool reading about the meaning behind our cover up names. I will introduce my self with my real name now it is Stephanie. This name means crown. It has been a different name for me to grow up with when I was young know one could remember it, as people didn't hear it often. Today it is popular.
When I was small people called me Stephy or Steph I have just learn't that our names contain an energy that we come into the world with and it is ours to claim any one who doesn't call you by your full name takes that energy away from you kinda like stealing I guess. Until someone told me this. I would not have realized this. But I realized I should be proud of the name that my parents were so happy to name me. So today I can truly say I love my name. In Full. No name change for me ever. It gives you something to think about when people don't want to call you by the name you were given or why you don't like the original one you have, it is a shame when we don't like who we truly are. Something to ponder with as I did. When we change our name we are not working with our true energy that was given to us as soon as we arrive on this beautiful earth. You can change it for better outcomes by depoll. But my thought on that was there must be a reason that we must work our true energy and deal with what it brings in us in our lives if we change it to me it is a little like cheating. Don't take my toughts to seriously it is just an opinion I came to for myself. That I felt like sharing just now.

ChanEtc, I read it the first time! Sorry I wasn't more clear and made you post it again. :) I was just saying that it was fun to finally learn the mystery behind the name. Ah, the perils of typed conversation! :) Roxell

As Yogi Berra once said, "deja vu all over again":

I call myself CHANETC. This name combines my first and last name, makes a reference to Zen Buddhism and its Tea Ceremony, Japanese Gardens, and the Eightfold Path. The "etc" part refers to all of my dreams, goals, and aspirations that aren't included in "Chan". While, I am not Buddhist, I love much that Buddhism has brought to the world and admire its creativity, so I have used this name for years to describe my personal aspirations to bring creative ideas into the world through "Right Livelihood", one of the Eight Fold paths.

I've used "chanetc" as a business name, on my business card, an email address, and a personalized license plate.

Fun topic! CHANETC, I always wondered about your name. :)

My name is a combination of two creatures that always, without fail, make me feel happy.

Rox=Roxy, my adorable dog
Ell=Elly, my beautiful cat

I totally agree about using positive words with yourself. I sometimes catch myself saying "I am so clumsy" and then wonder why I keep bumping into things!

My name is KrazyKat130

I think it kind of self explanatory because I'm just cat crazy! LOL!I currently have 6 cats.
But it wasn't always that way. growing up we only had dogs because my Mom didn't like cats. And as a child I always though cats were mean. (mom's thinking rubbing off on me)
When I met my husband he was a cat lover. So soon after we were married we adopted our 1st cat and I was hooked.
The 130 is just my b'day. It seems there are alot of cat lovers out there. LOL!!

Although my name is not that unique, I think it does describe part of who I am. I don't believe I could ever live with out a cat in my life.

Well Chan my word was made up. So an explanation of it well hear goes. It sprung into action when I received my puppy, she is a bishon poodle cross. I just knew this sort of dog would come into my life since early childhood. I new in my mind the kind of dog she would look like but not sure what she was. I only knew she would come to me at some point of my life. 3 years ago she came into my life. My husband didn't want any dogs as he has had 2 and felt he didn't want any more so the odds of me having a dog was slim. One day I new my puppy was going to come to me I said to my husband can I have a dog he asked me what sort. I said a white fluffy dog but I don't know what sort so I looked at all the breeds of white fluffy dogs and I either liked the toy poodle or the bishon poodle. My husband because he didn't want any more dogs said well you can have one if it is a cross between a bishon and a poodle. I didn't even know if they existed. He also said only look in one paper which was the local to my area. I looked that day I new she was coming to me. There was not one in the local. So I went out side the box and looked in another paper that day and to my surprise there was a bishon cross poodle in there. So I called her breed bishoodle. To Me it represents desire, love, joy, happiness. To always look out of the box and trust that the devine and universe always delivers its promises. Seeya have a wonderful day.

Zurdta is my name.

This is a name I chose a few years ago as an email address. It was chosen after a character played by the great Conrad Veidt in the 1933 film Rome Express (I am an old movie fan). I wanted Zurta, as that was the character's name - but that was taken, so I added the 'd' in there as this is how he actually pronounced it. He was German and had a strong accent.

I like the sound of the name - zurd-ta - and as Conny was such a slim and elegant gentleman (albeit one who often portrayed villains) it is a name I like to associate myself with.

So there you go - I like the exotic sound of the word, the connotations to my hobby and to my favourite actor.

(I also have a website dedicated to Conny:
www.conradveidt.co.uk
still a work in progress though!)

"A rose by any other name would smell the same." wrote the Bard of Avon.
What is the name that you selected for SparkPeople and why? What does it mean to you? What is it telling your subconscious? Sometimes we see names of people that seem to be negative, what do we do? Should we advise them of our thoughts?

One of the beliefs that I accept is that words have power. If my online name was FATGUY, I would always be programming myself to be a fat guy. Since this is not my goal, I call myself CHANETC.
