Yep! I'm actually on spring break this week, but I teach online classes that go on even during spring break. Plus I had to catch up on the work I missed last week! Sometimes I feel like I don't want to work any more, but then I reconsider and realize I need to keep busy! I had a great time!

Linda, that sounds wonderful! I sure wish there could be improvement at all in my sight or lack there of! Good luck with all the arrangements! Keeps us posted as you can! Glad you like your doctor too! That is always a plus! Have you heard from Anna at all this past week?

I didn't run into any problems except my pump decided to not work well the first day of the trip, but we changed the site and it worked fine after that. Had a great time and walked alot! We all slept very late today! Me, hubby and our dog! Talk to everyone later!

As I mentioned on another thread, I went to see the retinologist last Wednesday and this was a new guy and I really liked him. I suggested I get the membrane removed which involves surgery) and at the same time he will remove the cateract and when the new lens is inserted, it will make a big difference in the quality of my vision. I will have to wear readers because I will no longer be so myopic (short sighted) but my vision will not be able to adjust from distance to near so I would need new glasses.

Once that has healed, I can get the cateract on the other eye done, and with the two of them, I should be able to see much better than I can currently. I am trying to see if I can get some home care where someone can come in twice a day for 2 to 5 weeks to put drops in my eye as I cannot do that myself. I will also need someone to come in at least once a day or every two days to make sure all is going well as I will not be able to bend over to pick up anything if it falls on the floor. For the first 3 to 5 days I have to wear an eye patch at night.

There are a couple of other things to be considered but I will know more when I go see my GP next week and discuss it all with him. And if he gives it the green light, I get back to the retinologist and have him schedule the surgery....

More to follow later....

The only thing that came close to being a problem was once I flew to a northern city of a job interview and at the airport on the way home the guy was sure looking at my syringes and meds..... Told me in no uncertain terms that if I had not still had some insulin left on the return, I would not have been able to keep the unused syringes. Funny thing was, on the way up there, the Vancouver airport did not even blink when they say them. I started to tell them that I had a letter from my doc and they said it was ok, they could tell it was diabetic supplies.... I guess those guys up north don't see them often enough to know what it looks like.

Hi! Sorry I missed our question yesterday! Been busy getting ahead on work and packing. I leave Friday for my cruise! I'll be gone all week! Won't be back until the 11th.

Have you ever had any problems while traveling with your diabetes?

Yes! I went on a cruise with just some friends in 2010 and they did not know how to insert my insulin pump correctly and I ended up with a mix of very high blood sugars and very low! At least it was toward the very end of the cruise. The nurse on board didn't even know how to do it. My friend who wears a pump also has had numerous problems with customs and such. My problem was relatively minor execpt for me feeling so badly.
