This can certainly be a difficult for many family members to discuss and many refuse to do so but that can actually make the whole process much more painful than it needs to be.

I have discussed what I want with my sister (When she should pull the plug, what to do with my stuff, how to look after my finances if I am incapacitated, and so forth) and she took me to see a lawyer a couple of years ago. I told him what I wanted and he sent me an email of a living will and POA for me to read over, but I had a couple of questions before I signed them, so emailed him back but I never heard from him again. I could not even get to make another appointment with him. Don't know what happened there......

I had been thinking about this very thing somewhat lately so I realize I need to find another lawyer and get it done for sure this time...... It is all very straightforward, but It should be in writting and legal.....

We own our home, so that is the reason for the will. Plus, we wanted to be sure we would keep it if the other died. Maybe the next time someone comes to help clean up your living room you can ask them to help you find your DNR papers.

I don't have much to be giving away after my death. I may go ahead and give what I want to give beforehand.

I have been trying to get a DNR done since before this last episode with pain. I have the papers but with everyone trying to help and keep my living room straightened up I have not found them yet.

This is a serious one.... Do you have a will and a living will?

Yes and yes. We have a will because we own our home and we have a living will with a do not resustitate clause and we are each other's medical power of attorney. We also have someone assigned to be our medical power of attorney if both of us are in no shape to make medical decisions or one or the other has already passed.
