35 minutes done!!!! I feel soooooo much better now that I am exercising. Grand Canyon is just 7 1/2 weeks away.

Maineali - Way to go walking outdoors. We still have snow on the ground so it's the treadmill for me.

Yesterday I walked both indoors and outdoors. It was a really nice day so we went to our local walking path. It was really beautiful but was I surprised at how different it was from walking indoors. There were hills! And a lot of other people with their dogs and strollers. I'm kind of a loner so this was weird for me. Overall I enjoyed it though!

I'm not training for a competition. I'm not trying to set a new record. I'm not trying to impress you. I'm saving my life!

Good morning and Happy Easter! emoticon

Today is a day off for me. I walk 6 days and take Sunday's off. Like you MTN_KTTEN, I should be increasing my time this week but I'm not sure I will be able to. I've come down with a cold and I'm thinking I'll just maintain this week. I really like your idea of increasing every other week. As the times get longer, that makes so much more sense! Thanks!

Doing great. Sunday is my day off! I have built up to 35 minutes. This coming week I stay at 35 ... I increase my time every other week. Striving towards 45 minutes.

I'm glad you rejoined MTN_KITTEN! I'm on the working up part too. 8 weeks ago I could hardly do a half a mile, now I'm up to 1.5 miles in 30 minutes. Next week it's going to have to go up again. I'm not sure I'm ready but so far I've done everything I've put my mind to. So here's to US!

I unjoined this team because I felt like I was the only one here.

I have rejoined ... I have increased my walking time slowly and I am up to 35 minutes five times a week.

Good Morning Sparklers! I guess we're all too busy walking to chat! That's a good thing. I joined this team yesterday because I like the idea of walking. I can't run, so walking it will be. I've never enjoyed walking. I would rather swim a mile than walk a mile! But as I watch other people walk, it has become more attractive to me. That and it's the only thing I have access to at the moment. Eventually I want to walk a 5K at a descent pace. Maybe this fall or next spring. I want to be good and ready.

So have a great day everyone and keep on walking!

I am planning on a 6 miler and will check back if I met that goal-I did 3.79 so less but I walked fast (for me) and did it in 60 min.
I see there is a thread for just miles so will post there next time

I am going to get myself in there and complete my 25 minutes on the treadmill. Got up late this morning, then grandson came to spend the night. We had to go to the grocery store before every one else so we could have some good things to eat (healthy). We see the bunnies tomorrow at the library.

Had a ... difficult week. My tummy hated me for three days. I still got in three days of walking 20 minutes each. Next week I move on to more time and intensity on the treadmill. Yeah, me!!!

just dropping by to say hi to all members, as i sit here on my couch, huddled under a blanket listening to the howling wind, and the things its blowing around on my porch and in my yard.
just yesterday i awoke to a world of white, snow covered ground. two days before i was at the walking track in the sun, sweating in long sleeves, last week i walked twice in short sleeves.
dont know whats going on with this weather, but i know that i look forward to sweating and walking, i wont well, ok, i will try not to complain too much about the heat.
my foot has been bothering me some, maybe from walking 4 days after being dormant for months. i am easing my way back in, but sure hoping soon to be back to at least 4 days a week. got out my old asics i hadnt worn since getting my kswiss last year, and put in the orthopedic inserts i had especially made to fit my shape of my foot, that day i walked my foot seemed to bother me much more, so im going to watch the days i wear those shoes, the quest for a new pair of good supportive, yet not clunky or heavy walking shoes is still on.

My two+ week ordeal with my knees seems to be coming to an end. I'm excited to add walking back to my schedule regularly. But I'm going to start slow! No more 3 mile walks every day for now!

I like to walk a river trail near my home, almost all year, except when it becomes too icy. Or I'll walk around Toronto city core, or go to the Toronto Islands, or a museum, art gallery, etc. I'm planning a trip to Ottawa for the spring, hopefully I can afford it.

Hope everyone is having fun walking....I haven't been out in a few days because of the weather and can't use the treadmill with my toddler in tow. I miss walking, but I'm using the exercise bike quite often...I can hold onto my daughter while I'm on that...

There are a lot of hay bales in the field next to my house that I walk by on my walks I couldn't imagine having to move those things they are huge. That is a workout in itself I think you missing your walk is forgiven LOL

Welcome to the team! We had wonderful temps here over the weekend. I didnt actually get out and walk, but we messed around hauling (sometimes pushing) 1000lb hay bales out to the barn lot. Thought we should take advantage of the nice day so we arent out doing that in the freezing rain/snow/ice

My dh and I took Friday off as we have some vacation time to use or lose. We took the dog and went to Fort Snelling State Park. It was kind of cold, and sleeting. I didn't care just because there was daylight. It felt like we had the entire park to ourselves.

Ouch, toe blister!!!

How about soaking your footsies in warm Epsom salt. Check the length of your toe nails. I let mine get me in trouble a while back ... and check the fluffiness of your socks around your tootsies.

My walking has been sporadic. I did get some in yesterday, as the yard needed mowed so I pushed it. I have been getting in my share of exercise but I do need to walk more.

I think I need new walking shoes!!! emoticon I have been putting so many miles on my shoes, that my feet are starting to be upset. I keep getting blisters on my toes, and this week I got a blister under my toenail!!! OWIE! Has anyone else experienced the toenail blister? I am not sure the best way to "treat" it, except to rest and let it heal on its own.

I was wrestling with my son several weeks ago and heard my knee pop and getting up was super painful - so much for showing him how I could keep up with him. "I can't" So, after many weeks of doing different exercises to build my knee up again, I'm finally back to walking more but I'm afraid to do planks or jumping jacks.

The good news is I'm back to doing my extra walking outside and on dvds again - I had to go super slow the past few weeks and not do anything extra that involved knee bends - couldn't even get off the floor properly. However, I was able to lift weights and do situps/leg lifts like you do for yoga. emoticon

I wish we had a Y near us - I'd love to go swimming - it's the best exercises for us "older" folks. emoticon

Got my walk in early today, even though it was warmer than I like, because I'll be at a dinner later this afternoon and evening. My son was kind enough to walk with me and keep me company. What a blessing!

emoticon I can now say my goal is to do my Winsor Pilates dvd's as if I'm training to be in the video - (laughing) Wow! I just did the Ab Sculpting and WOW! I'm sore - I stretched in so many ways - I was shaking during some of those moves - I do like the way she kept saying, "squeeze your buttocks - they will help you during this move" And she is right!

I walked 3 times last week. Doesnt sound like alot huh, well considering I havent been able to walk since Jan, I was very happy to get 3 30 minute walks.
Had planned to walk yesterday evening, it poured down rain here and by the time I got ready at 8pm last night to go walk, in the 10 minutes to drive to my local track, it started sprinkling rain again,
Woke this morning to cold cold gray skies and drizzle.
When will it ever end???
I can count on one hand the number of days we have had here in East Ky, that have had actual sunshine and warmth.
I just dont know.
My foot is finally beginning to heal and I still cant walk for the weather.

I am trying to get my house ready for company at the end of the month. I have a trail ride, about 25 riders AND our kids are all coming home the same weekend! I guess that is okay, only have to clean house once! ha

Been trying to work in the yard and garden, and help at the city park with our garden club flower bed. I am feeling it today, but rain in the forecast so I have to get our veggie garden in this weekend!
