Hmm ... I might be the only one on this thread.

Went to the grocery store and bought fresh fruit and veggies. Came home and sliced and diced so everything is ready when I need it.

Late night snacking is a thing of the past. Hot tea, good book or soothing hot shower has replaced it.

I ate a big spinach salad last night for supper and ... no evening snacking. This might be a hard habit to break, but it can be done.

I upped my walking from 28 to 34 minutes! Yeah, me!!!

Great will power. The more you succeed, the more you want to stick with your diet. Donuts are really just poison, like most processed food. And worse, the more sugar you have the more you crave. The bottom line is: avoid the downward spiral - don't start.

OSDOWNS -

ALL walking - even 2 minutes at a time - has remarkable benefits. Also, be sure you are doing lots of hip stretching exercises before and after you walk. The older we get the more we MUST stretch. If your hips are very severely arthritic, you may want to see a physical therapist for some good hip "opening" exercises that you can do safely.

I LOVE your screen name! You are not alone in "walking making you happier" - studies prove walking lessens anxiety and depression. If more people walked, there would be a lot fewer people on Prozac, Lexapro, and a host of other mind-altering garbage..... Keep up the good work

Great job! Keep in mind that jogging is much harder on our body than walking - and you should be sure to thoroughly stretch and pay attention to your jogging form. Frankly, long term, if have the time in your day, walking is safer and can get you just as fit as jogging. Of course, you have to walk briskly.

Fantastic. More studies are finding out that Aspartame, the sweet stuff in diet soda, actually changes how we process sugar and can make us gain weight!

Try to get rid of or limit artificial sweetners. I use a lot of Stevia now, at least until they find out that is no good for us either!

Good job on the walking. Keep it up!

MTN Kitten,

In reply to your post.... Night eating is a very difficult habit to break. Next time, maybe try varying your night routine or drinking water or tea, or munching carrots. If you must eat nuts, try to limit the portion and get unsalted nuts - much healthier.

I jogged 1.7 miles today. I JOGGED 1.7 miles today. I couldn't jog one lap in high school much less over mile. It wasn't fast, but it was faster than a walk. Go me!

Yesterday I had a lot of arthritic pain in my hips making it difficult to walk. I grabbed my hubby and we went for a walk, albeit very slowly. At least I moved this body!

I wrote a silly post about my new found thigh gap. Apparently, my bones are different now than they were when I was younger. It's small gap since my legs are thick and muscular. I'm just no longer knock kneed.

I am really proud of the fact that I "ran" for the first time. I wanted to see what the C25K program was so I downloaded it on my phone. I ran for 60 seconds and then walked briskly for 90 seconds for over a mile. (I walked 3.5 miles all together). Since I have never ran before that makes me proud. :) I am going to stick with the program and see if I can run for 30 minutes after 9 weeks. That would be amazing!

I really worked out this week. 3days in a row at Curves as well as a 5 minute fitness challenge. Walked this morning and then again after dinner. 59 total minutes of exercise today. I will do everything I can now to reach my goals!!!

emoticon I don't know if anyone's still using this thread....but my non scale victories are the following:
1. I'm posting and reading and writing down what I'm eating.
2. I think my eating habits are finally forming into good ones.
3. Off the scale I have a great life.

Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.

I have had a good year. I lost 37 pounds and made some good lifestyle changes. Got pregnant in May so now my ticker is going in the other direction! Looking forward to using the Spark People tools after our baby is born to rebound and get in great shape again.

OOh OOh! I have one. Yesterday I went to a birthday party serving barbecued chicken and steak, stuffed baked potatoes, corn, cake, ice cream.....and I stayed under my calorie limit!!!

It's a miracle!!

Mine is, that I am now able to walk a mile on the treadmill in under 10 minutes and when I first started it took me a little over 20 minutes.
