Shame base is such a big deal for most of us who have issues with compulsive overeating. Just remember that YOU are worth all the effort that it is taking on this journey to a healthier you. Please... don't give up on YOU! Love yourself! You DESERVE it!

Still looking for motivation, I have so much shame that you would think that would motivate me, but it isn't, most times I just say to hell with it and hide. Haven't quit the Spark yet, I know my motivation is just a click away.

I have been struggling with staying motivated this summer. I am going to work on that. Right now... just getting back on track is motivation for me! I took today as a DO-OVER and cleared all my trackers. I hope that being the best I can be will be my motivation!

My motivation today is: the healthier that I am getting the better I am feeling.
Accountability. I feel accountable to my spark friends and am determined not to let THEM down and not to let MYSELF down. I honestly believe with all my heart that this is a WE thing!

MY MOTIVATION WOULD HAVE TO BE MY GRAND KIDS...I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PLAY AND CHASE THEM AROUND. TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM TO THE PARK AND PLAY ON THE EQUIPMENT WITH THEM AND NOT WORRY IF IT'S STRONG ENOUGH OR IF I'M GOING TO GET STUCK. TO BE HERE HEALTHY THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES AND BE HERE AS LONG AS I CAN!!!

I want to play more with my 4 year old. I want to be able to clean my whole house without help. I to hike with my husband. I am going to Michigan next year to see one of my older sons and his wife and there are places I can only see if I can walk well. I want to do Bloomsday again.
What has recently motivated me, and kept me from over-eating lately is a new devlopment... I like eating a small portioned meal and not eating until I'm full. That way, when I go for a walk, I don't feel so heavy and bogged-down. It feels healthy, light, and I feel proud of myself.

My motivations are many and varried but the top one is, BECAUSE I CAN!
I always thought my weight was inevitable and that there was nothing I could do to change it. I realized within the last three years that ANYTHING is possible with persistence and determination.
Anything.
I have always made things more complicated and difficult than they need to be. (I probably am doing that with my healthy lifestyle as well, but hey... it's working this time so I won't knock it.)
I have in the past failed to FULLY commit to myself.
And now that I am facing my obesity it is going away! So I want to defeat it completely.
And also because I want to be BUFF. I want to be Amazonian! I want to be firm and strong and fit. I want to RUN, JUMP, KICK, and throw punches like a man. I want to do chin up and push ups and BE A MARINE! Yeah I said it, I want to be a soldier. I want to fight! YEAH! So one of my "Dare to dream" goals is to lose the weight and see about joining the armed forces.
Because yeah, I never thought i could before but now I know I can do ANYTHING!
LITERB93, what a nice acrostic. . . As for me, I am motivated by the people at my job. A lot of them are trying to become more healthy. Also, my parents recently cut back on eating out, red meat, etc. I feel that if they can do it, so can I.

Im new to the team, its nice to talk to people who have the same weight issues as I do. Lets see .. My motivation has changed alot in the last year. First thing that motivates me are my children. I want to live to see them grow up and have children of their own. Second thing.. I just recently got married to the love of my life, and I had my girls before we met, so I would love to have a baby. We've been trying for close to 2 years. Third motivation, Im 26 yrs young and I have found out this year, that I have sleep apnea and also have recently been put on cholestrol medicine. So Im on day 2 of my new start and IM GOING TO STICK TO IT.

I want to lose weight to be healthier, so i can do things that are currently either difficult for me now or I can't do them at all, and to be hot! I want all the other men to be envious of my boyfriend when we are out places together. I also know there's a fashion diva screaming to get out and I wanna release her! I can't wait until I can fit in normal sizes and looking for clothes is an enjoyable experience, not a chore.

I've taken a long time to become serious about losing weight. People always say that once you lose weight, you'll feel better about yourself. However, losing weight requires that you feel strongly enough about your wellbeing to improve it. I had to care care about myself first and move towards a healthier lifestyle second.
Me, that's my motivation. I feel like there is a gulf between the person I am and the one I want to be. I'm motivated to learn more about myself and to experience life more fully with a smaller butt.

Hi Karen. I read your message with great empathy. I know how you feel. Let me share something that has helped me.
I know everyone has their own reasons for losing weight. Most of us have several reasons. However, the first thing to consider is WHO you are doing it for. You said you started off thinking you wanted to live longer for your kids. While that is admirable and shows your love for your kids, you really have to do it for yourself first. After all, you have to be happy with yourself before you can share that happiness with others.
Try to take one little step at a time and one small goal at a time. When you reach your small goals, do something special for yourself. Take a hot bath. Buy a pair of socks with hearts on them. Have lunch with a friend. Go to a movie. It doesn't have to be expensive, just something that rewards you for your hard work and sticking to your plan. On the other hand, you can't beat yourself up if you don't lose or even gain. Everyone has bad days and bad weeks; we just have to move forward and eventually we will reach our goal.
If you want to chat, drop me a line. Take care of YOU because YOU are worth it!

Wow, you all have such great motivations! When I started off, I really thought it is to live longer for my kids. They are still very small. Let me be honest. Lately all my motivation just flew out the window. I don't know where it has gone. I have been feeling so discouraged lately that I don't think I can try any longer! sorry I am such a joykill, but I just needed to get it out there!

What motivates me is knowing I can do it .. I have a friend who got rid of over 200 pounds with weight watchers and I know I can do it too! I need to use a scooter if I want to shop and I cant wait until I don't need it anymore. I can walk for 10 minutes before I get all sweaty and in pain so considering I usually go after work I am already tired. I want to be a healthy grandma one day that can crawl around the floor with my grand babies!
Being it is Lent I made some decisions..
It is not about giving up "stuff", even though we do fast. It is a time to take a spiritual inventory if you will. Time for reflection, trying to be the best you can be and giving of yourself. If it means giving up that $3 latte everyday and giving the $ to a charitable organization so be it.
As for me, I will be going hard core (on weight watchers core/no count program) to improve my life. NO BREAD, NO SUGAR, NO FLOUR, FF dairy, NO processed foods, and also I will eat meat only 2 days a week.(including fish) I also will be reading my bible more and reflecting on my life and seeing what I can do to improve it.
I also will be making a hardened effort at decluttering my home. I believe it thwarts my efforts to be the best I can be..
SO that is my motivation! Lent will start me on my journey and hopefully I can continue it!

What motivates me is most importantly, living a longer, healthier life. Also, being able to go out and do things. I have to use a wheelchair right now to "walk" around the mall and I look forward to being able to actually WALK around the mall someday!

What motivates you to make this change in your life?
For me the answer is simple, I want children, I have PCOS a, it's series of symptoms related to hormone imbalances in my body and is directly related to my weight. Simply put my girlie bits do not work right because I am over weight, I want to be healthy and active and I want to be a parent with all my heart.
SO WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
