Hi Amanda, I found I've been more able to control the PB thing except the week before I get my period. I allow myself 1 serving a day & I seem to do ok with that. I might do better with the almond butter cause it's so expensive :) I'm from the old school of jar of PB & spoon, just me & the bf here so it's ok :) It is very healthy, maybe if you just take that 1 serving out & put it on a dish or whatever you want to eat it with, put the jar away, try it for a week & see what happens? I totally won't keep sweets in the house, although I found a good recipe for diet chocolate mousse that is helpful, wish it didn't have all the chemicals in it but hey, you can't have everything. Hope you find a way with the peanut or almond butter, Liz

This is interesting, because peanut butter is a huge issue for me too. I really don't want to put it on the list of things I don't buy, and almond butter was suggested to me and turned out to be worse (I would eat anything in the house just so I could put almond butter on it). I know no one has had any suggestions, but I would love any advice or tips as well.

I'm lacto ovo too, just cow's milk in my cereal & tea, one piece of fat free crapola 'cheese' a day & eggs in baked products. I need to stay away from animal protein. Anyway, I'm doing pretty well with the pb, surprisingly, just can't keep it around the house 'the week before' if you know what I mean ;) I appreciate your interest & suggestions, I'm hoping eventually to start actually losing some weight!

How did you make out with the pb issue? I get into those peanut butter modes myself. I should also note that I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian (but I dont drink cows milk, just soy and i eat cheese but not alot, and eat mostly egg whites when i do eat eggs or if eggs are baked into something) I wonder sometimes, if my body doesn't crave PB because I need the protein?
I also love cashew butter... It's sweeter but Mmmm.... Good. But very expensive. I already by the organic and all natural PB, which is expensive enough. Like anything I tend to over indulge in, I first ration out my portion, put the food item away BEFORE I even have the first taste, otherwise, it is inevitable that I will "taste" it and just keep going, or add just a little bit more to things or pop it in my mouth without accounting for it, and with PB being so high in calories for such a small amount, it is easy to consume mass amounts of calories quickly.
Perhaps if you eat the PB wth something, such as an apple or banana or even on some chocolate graham crakers that may ward off eating it spoonful by spoonful?
Good luck and hope this helps!

I stick with my fat free American cheese(?)crapola, you put that on some wheat bread or bagel thins with veggie slices(I do like Tofurky better)& some mustard, not too shabby, for me :) I'm not too crazy about the texture of vegan cheese either.

Thanks anyway! I decided(probably wisely)to hold off until I drop at least a couple of pounds. Will do my Whole Foods shopping this week, skip the pb for now. They have Yves Veggie Slices on sale-yay!

thanks yes, i use whole foods natural(actually natural just peanuts & salt)pb. i love nuts, i could eat a jar of soy butter just as easily. although that's a thought...as long as it's non-gmo.

Have you tried different kind of nut butters?
Ones without all the added salt and sugar of regular peanut butter?

Peanut butter is a real trigger food for me. Sometimes I can have a spoonful or a sandwich, sometimes, it just gets ugly. I'm going shopping tomorrow and am entertaining the thought of picking some up. I don't eat much animal protein(a little fat free cheese & 1% milk are about it), or nightshades(tomatoes, potatoes, peppers or eggplant)& I'm a brittle type 1 diabetic, so my food choices are kind of limited. So some natural peanut butter would actually be a good addition to my diet but I'm afraid I will lose control on it. I would like to develop a healthy relationship with it, but, not sure I'm ready. If anyone has any thoughts, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
