I won my personal battle with the birthday cake. It is completely gone now and I did not have another piece, feeling good! I also had an strong urge to start binging yesterday but caught my self (standing in the kitchen with the fridge open) and made myself busy setting up my Spark Page and successfully avoided the urge to binge! emoticon

To start on a good note. Yesturday was my husband's birthday and we when out to dinner. Ahead of time I came on the Spark website and utilized the restaurant info and picked a healthy meal for myself. We came home and I had a very small piece of his birthday cake with everyone. So far, so good. My worry is now, I will be home all day alone, with a half of a birthday cake sitting in the kitchen!!

Must stay strong. This will be a great test for me, I hope I can . emoticon

I have been good since Jan. 10, 2011 and I have lost 97 lbs. but since last Wed, I have had a drinks every day except Fri. and yesterday. Since Sunday I have binged eating and can't stopped and the stuff that I have binged on doesn't taste that great and I am spiral out of control Once I started with sweets and alcohol and can't stop and in least than a week I am up 8 lbs. I don't know what to do. I am hoping to be back on my plan and lost 30- 35 more lbs to get to my goal. right now I am following six weeks, food lover and south beach I must be depersate in order to reach out to any one. Please help me before I get out of control.. emoticon

Maybe you haven't reached all your goals yet-but who has? And maybe you've made a few mistakes along the way-but who hasn't? You have every reason to feel proud of who you are. Notice your triumphs, big and small. There are so many.

There are two large grocery bags worth of chocolate and candy in the house from Halloween. I told my husband to take it to work and he didn't . I don't know what to do with them! I am trying to eat within my calorie range but that means I can only eat a cup of vegetables for supper this evening!!! I need to stop eating them and they are here. I can't stop thinking about them. I just want to keep eating them..

I was not as successful as you...I worked till midnight and came home and saw the pizza box...i knew what lurked behind that fridge door...it called for me again and again but i was able to resist to its temptations...lol...till at last in the end....i could not hold back..after the fog cleared...in my plate laid the 2 pizza crust...sadly i called the dog over to gobble the crust...the good news is that i did not eat the crust of the pizza...saving calories right...lol...oh well..there is no more pizza the kids had the rest for breakfast...and a new day has begun...was it a dream?...i only wish

I have a couple of tricks. One is to not think about 'never' or 'always'. One day at a time is too much sometimes; so I just think about not binging for an hour at a time.
Another thing that helps me is to focus on the things that are beneficial for me to eat, instead of focusing on what I'm trying to stop eating.
And most important, when I slip up, I use a feather to beat myself up with instead of a baseball bat! Life is about progress, not perfection. Start your day over as many times as you need to. Just don't quit, Tattoo, it gets better!

Y'all I wanted to binge last night but I didn't! I really wanted chili cheese fries and a oreo blast from sonic but I had to do some major talking to myself. I drank water and when I finally realized I was still a little hungry and didn't get full at dinner, I just ate a small bowl of cereal and was satisfied!!!
I know if I would have eaten those chili cheese fries; I would have felt guilty and had major heartburn because I was already in bed. I thought about the effort that I would have to put into going get the food and it wasn't worth it.

Yes! One day at a time!!!
Hope everyone is doing well! Thanks for the encouragement and keep up the good work everyone!!!

I love Jillian Michaels! Her 30 day shred dvd is killer. I used it after I had my first kid and the fat just melted off. I'm having trouble sticking to it this time, and I think it has a lot to do with my personal situation. I wasn't a binge eater before and I have fallen into that this time. I'm stuck at home everyday with my kids and I don't have a car right now to get us away from the house. All I have to do here is sit on my but and eat...and eat...and eat....and eat! You would think chasing after two kids all day would do it, but I guess its not as effective when you binge. Honestly, I don't think I have any trigger foods...unless I can say ALL food is trigger food for me! I am very thankful I can across this sight though. Maybe being able to talk to other people with similar problems will help me.

I am seeing a therapist about my binge eating/purging. She asked me about trigger foods, which I hadn't really thought about, but now I am very aware of which foods start a binge, so I am doing my best to avoid them altogether. When I feel I have enough control of the issue to let willpower take over, I will slowly add those foods back into my diet, in moderation. Progress begins with baby steps!

I eat only when I am hungry. I also don't have any foods that I know I will binge on that has been helping a lot so far. Staying away from the binge food.

I agree about the 100 cal packs. I will just eat all of them. Then i tell myself 'it's only 600 cal'
I need to keep away.
I am looking to fill my life this time, not my stomach.
Its tough for me, over the years i have lost most of my connections to people and groups because i was/am hiding my horrid eating habits.

I thought by buying the pack of 100 calorie ice cream snacks that I would only eat one every once in a while. Boy, was I fooling myself. I ate the whole box in five days. I couldn't stand it any longer and the last day I ate six of them just to empty the box and no more temptation.

I am going to start a streak of no binging. This is how I propose to do it:

1) Eat every 3 hours

2) 8 glasses of water

3) Exercise

4) None of my binge foods: Cookies, Ice Cream, Chips of any kind.

5) Eat lean protein, vegetables, fruit and whole grains!

Just for today:)

Friday August 28
Welcome to Losing It with Jillian Michaels, the program designed to help you shed pounds, increase energy, and finally get fit for life!

FRIDAY: FEELING GOOD

How to Beat Binge Eating

If you're inclined to binge, the most important thing you can do for yourself is to examine the emotional reasons for it. I know that processing such emotions is hard and takes time, but there are some good techniques that can help you modify your behavior and combat binge eating while you work on the underlying issues. Here are a few:

Banish binge foods from your environment. Don't buy or let into your house whatever you're prone to bingeing on whether it's cookies, chips, or ice cream. After all, you can't eat what's not there.

Decorate your fridge with images that motivate you. I have two pictures on mine: One is a photo of my cellulite, and the other is of Olympic swimmer Dara Torres. Let me tell ya, there is nothing that will turn you off to eating too much like pictures of cottage cheese on your butt.

Call a friend. The next time you want to stuff your face, reach out for support and try talking through your feelings instead of anesthetizing them by bingeing.

Try taking up a hobby. Keep yourself occupied so that rather than medicating yourself with food, you'll distract yourself with something productive.

Do something to screw up your binge. In other words, pamper yourself with something that's positive rather than self-destructive. Get a mani-pedi. Take a relaxing bath. Go to the gym. There are many places to go and activities to take part in that'll also lead you away from the temptation of food.

It takes time to break a bad habit, so it's good to have some techniques to fall back on when life gets the better of you! Remember to take it one day at a time. If you do end up bingeing, work out a little harder the next day. Every day is a new one got it?
